- coltrane68, on 11/27/2007, -9/+85It's hard to believe that the 360 operating system and Vista came from the same company. The 360 OS is attractive, easy to navigate, functional, and snappy. Moreover, MS regularly adds new features via updates. And the updates don't break the 360. Amazing.
- squirrelza, on 11/27/2007, -2/+38It feels like the whole world is becoming one big social network
- iluvatar, on 11/27/2007, -1/+31the whole world has always been one big social network. It's just now you can join it without leaving your couch.
- Megaten, on 11/27/2007, -6/+33I know you're just making a simple silly comment - but you're not honestly comparing an OS that has to bend over backwards with all sorts of compatibility issues and hurdles to something like the 360 which has requirements and licensing policies more akin to what Apple has on it's OS-X platforms, are you? I've always been of the mind that, yes...while Vista sucks now, I'd hate to put myself in their programmer's shoes in trying to make it this magical wonderchild of an OS that can handle each and every little thing anyone has ever tried to run on it.
Nevermind all that - I'm just curious as to what all this feature is going to entail on the 360. Is it like the article said and 'very MySpace'-like,or something more? I don't want something like Home...I'd probably never bother with anything like that, hell I'd be content with just more than two people in private chat...but I'm wondering if this is just some other little bullet point on the Live features list or something that'll evolve into a huge portion of Live. - Christbait, on 11/27/2007, -2/+28Does this mean a new blade? I can has stalkers on teh Xbox?
- salmonmoose, on 11/27/2007, -0/+11I take it you're giving the PS3 fanbase the benefit of the doubt then?
- proliance, on 11/27/2007, -3/+12More kids expecting to make a name for themselves by using the "F" word. Great.
- pegisys, on 11/27/2007, -3/+11I don't know why people insist on blaming updates/games/movies for breaking their 360, if it broke, it was going to break no matter what it was doing at the time
- mroffroad, on 11/27/2007, -6/+13i just wanna chat wit teh bitches
- ptxyz, on 11/27/2007, -2/+8I've had Vista running on my T60P ThinkPad for past half a year or so. I am yet to have a single problem.
I would take Linux over windows any day (except for playing games), and I have Ubuntu running in vmware... I haven't had any game problems in Vista. Why is everyone bashing Vista - i.e. what makes it worse than XP? - Nerfdude, on 11/27/2007, -4/+10that's all well and good, but where's divx support? seriously, i want to retire my XBMC box.
- allenmwnc1, on 11/27/2007, -4/+9Which one?
- AvidPreatorian, on 11/27/2007, -1/+6good idea, but think about all those 13-year-olds and their valuable input (i.e. vulgarism, racism, sexism, and all the other goods)
- Nerfdude, on 11/27/2007, -12/+16both are glossy, slick, well-made products. one just isn't in direct competition with a product made by a company known for its rabid, ignorant fanbase.
- Izacus, on 11/27/2007, -4/+8Useless. I already have voice chat on permanent mute because of all the screaming children. Rather give us goddamn divX/Xvid support already so I won't have to use Transcode360 to watch a movie.
- lcmatt, on 11/27/2007, -1/+5Download ORB onto your computer and stream the file over to your 360. Simple and works without any problems.
- stonedgeek, on 11/28/2007, -1/+5Microsoft says a lot of things
- formulathree, on 11/28/2007, -1/+5
This is fantastic news. The racist name calling low life douche bags on Xbox live will now be able to collaborate together. - beervolcano, on 11/27/2007, -0/+4I wonder if we can BLOCK all of those 13-year-olds! There's nothing worse than hearing a prepubescent voice squeal out with, "*squeak squeak* you just got pwnd! *squeak squeak squeal*".
- salmonmoose, on 11/27/2007, -3/+7Because they are cheapskates who are trying to run it on cheap hardware.
- Murdats, on 11/28/2007, -1/+4whats funny is all they did with these sorts of things is instead of having a tab, they have a link, with a paragraph explaining whats in the option, rather then 'desktop' you get 'desktop background' and then 'choose from available backgrounds or colors or use one of your own pictures to decorate the desktop'
but thats too complicated - Aharoni, on 11/27/2007, -2/+5Why are people surprised? Microsoft always said that Live was the biggest social network of gamers.
- MrFisty, on 11/28/2007, -0/+3Based on what figures? I'm not blindly leaping to their defense – I'm on my second after a faulty fan – but of the three shops in my area I've spoken to, they all say it's less than 5% returns and that all this drama is more a case of a vocal few than an affected majority.
- MeatBiProduct, on 11/28/2007, -2/+5They also don't like change, they don't like to 'learn' how to reuse their O/S. Lets be real these are the people that roll back to XP because Microsoft moved the place you change the f'n wallpapers in.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Other people may not know as much as you.
- JoeRW, on 11/28/2007, -0/+2They should totally be quarantined, some pigs are more equal than others squeak squeek. No but seriously, they should be.
- AvidPreatorian, on 11/28/2007, -2/+4vulgarism |ˈvəlgəˌrizəm|
noun
a word or expression that is considered inelegant, esp. one that makes explicit and offensive reference to sex or bodily functions.
• archaic an instance of rude or offensive behavior. - MeatBiProduct, on 11/28/2007, -1/+3Get Winamp Remote - youtube, xvid, mpeg, and more my friend. All straight from the xbox 360s menus with little setup needed. Works flawlessly.
- Ajajadude, on 11/28/2007, -0/+2For the most part, I like it. The only thing I don't like with the layout is that I sometimes have a hard time finding console info (i.e. the MAC address). It's somewhat more appealing to me than the PS3's setup, even though I like the wallpaper options with the unintrusive menu categories.
- CollapseControl, on 11/28/2007, -1/+2I'm really curious to see what ads you are talking about? You're not the first one I seen say that the ads are bad, but I have yet to see any ad that messed up my experience on LIVE. If anything I love seeing little squares on my Dashboard letting me know of some DVD or Movie coming out.
To make things short, I don't see anything annoying or wrong with the Dashboard... nothing at all.... especially when the ads have to do a video game and its contents. - m00nstone, on 11/28/2007, -1/+2I like Live and I like most of the changes they've made so far. Just one request for MS. Please remove all advertising content for Gold users. For the love of God!
- Dracusis, on 11/28/2007, -1/+2You lost me at attractive.
When I want an opinion from someone who finds wads of play school like primary colours attractive, I'll ask my nephew. The 360 dashboard is an add riddled mess. I'll take the PS3s XMB or the Wii interface any day. - alkajazz, on 11/28/2007, -0/+1Yeah sometimes my xbox 360 locks up on me or hangs and don't blame it on me. I'm using an intercooler and its not in a confined area. Stupid Fanboy.
- SadFlask, on 11/28/2007, -1/+2"I haven't touched my Wii in months."
I dug you up for making me chuckle. - krische, on 11/27/2007, -5/+6Xbox 360: Myspace Edition

- CollapseControl, on 11/28/2007, -2/+3Gotta love the posts from people who think that when you turn on an Xbox you automatically hear thousands of screaming children. It's sad really, that some people won't give the Xbox 360 a good chance with LIVE (a free account and you will never hear children, unless it's a relative or friend), I never hear little children when I play on my 360.... never.
- CollapseControl, on 11/28/2007, -0/+1I really wish that they would just drop the FULL list of what we will be dealing with in 1 week. Either they don't think that an update for the 360 is "big" or they just don't know if it is worth bragging about. A lot of people, who use XBL almost everyday, is excited to see an update to the dashboard. LET US KNOW!!! FILL ME IN!!!
- Murdats, on 11/28/2007, -2/+3If men could only know each other, they would neither idolize nor hate.
Elbert Hubbard (1856 - 1915) - Murdats, on 11/28/2007, -1/+2yeah, how dare they make an OS that runs on a VERY restricted set of hardware that runs a very limited number of apps that more pretty much all first party that has/needs no backwards compatibilty run better then one that must run on as much 10 year old hardware is as possible and run every program made for any of its previous versions from 10+ years ago?
- inactive, on 11/28/2007, -2/+3Look at all the Apple fanboys being jealous about the fact that MS could crack the gaming market while Apple failed miserably
- RubberBand, on 11/28/2007, -2/+3Nintendo should really get their ***** together. Xbox Live completely destroys Friend Codes
- finalfantasyIII, on 11/29/2007, -0/+0so?
- Razoso, on 11/30/2007, -0/+0Uselessness at its finest.
- Yeago, on 11/28/2007, -1/+1Did I hear "Sausage party"?
- finalfantasyIII, on 11/29/2007, -0/+0that's lame like.. something that's really lame. Like an Intercooler!!! (talkin to you alkajazz)
Your 360 is locking up on ya huh? Maybe you should do a little research on that intercooler... You might be feeding the fire. - ieataquacrayons, on 11/28/2007, -2/+2I haven't touched my Wii in months. I get more enjoyment out of the 360. Granted I will probably play Wii when I invite friends and family over for Christmas eve and we can get drunk and try to play Wii sports.
- laggyz, on 11/28/2007, -1/+1Not all young people are like that, even my little brother who is 10 years old is very mature.
- gbak39, on 12/04/2007, -0/+0I love the online community gaming experience. Can't wait to get my 360 online!
- finalfantasyIII, on 11/29/2007, -0/+0You can't be serious!!
As Megaten said.. You're comparing two different mediums. How hard is it to screw up a console based GUI? Which essentially is all what that "OS" is. -
