- CollapseControl, on 02/06/2008, -9/+83Mass Effect is a great game, and adding new enemies to an already great game = Awesome!
Mass Effect = one of the greatest games released! - Mr.Gone, on 02/06/2008, -2/+52Finally, that pornographic explicit sex patch I've been hearing so much about!
- spartanblue, on 02/06/2008, -4/+36Some may think an hour and a half isn't worth the money, but considering the detail Bioware puts into their narratives (and this one definitely sounds intriguing) I'm all for it.
- navster15, on 02/06/2008, -1/+27Kick ass. I've been looking for an excuse to start another play-through and pick up the achievements I missed. Plus, I think this is the first time we get to actually see the Batarians, so that's a bonus.
- InfinitySnatch, on 02/06/2008, -2/+26Where's the download where you can do it with Tali?
- TaeBoX, on 02/06/2008, -5/+23Have I got some great news for you. You don't have to buy it, you can just eat a dick instead!
- lcmatt, on 02/06/2008, -4/+21Mass Effect will never be released on the PS3.
- coldfirenj, on 02/06/2008, -2/+15Mass Effect was really, really good. I played through it three times and even my girlfriend got into it.
- nhavar, on 02/06/2008, -0/+12There's also a nice little psychological disconnect where points don't equal cash and therefore people spend more. Nice little benefit for the companies that use points.
Also companies already have to do the exchange rate conversion within the software when the user purchases points. What's the difference in maintaining that versus showing the prices based on local. - spartanblue, on 02/06/2008, -0/+11It's a more advanced side quest, not an extension of the main story.
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -0/+11$5 for another hour and a half worth of content in an awesome game? I'm there.
- thinman1189, on 02/06/2008, -4/+15I hope there's better sex this time.
- LazurWulf, on 02/06/2008, -3/+14It's not content that should have been included in the original game, it's more of a game that was already complete. Think of it this way, it's a few bucks for more content for what you already know to be a good game, you don't have to shell out another $60 bucks for an entirely new game. I think this stuff is great, keeps wonderful games going long after the original part is done.
- DrywallThief, on 02/06/2008, -0/+10They're already working on another Mass Effect. It's definitely not over.
- Glenn711A, on 02/06/2008, -3/+13It's called "exchange rates"
- Hipple, on 02/06/2008, -3/+12I would say it rivals even those games that are unreleased
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -0/+9Bioware doesn't make the Call of Duty games. Ask Infinity Ward.
- totorototoro, on 02/06/2008, -3/+12While I wasn't overall as impressed with Mass Effect as I was with previous Bioware games (KOTOR, Planescape, etc.) I don't think you can claim the game as shipped wasn't complete, and worth the $60. This isn't horse armor they are adding, its a new sub-quest. Not sure how you think it should've been included in an already sub-quest filled game.
- cigawoot, on 02/06/2008, -1/+10Hopefully they'll add all that "sexual" content that Fox claimed existed in Mass Effect.
- BassCadet, on 02/06/2008, -1/+9I love Mass Effect but there is a huge, glaring problem with the pacing in the game. Once you start off on the Citadel the game unloads tons of missions, information, and content onto the player. But once you finally hit your stride and start to understand what all this stuff means to you, you're halfway through the game. And by this point, the spigot is turned down and the gamer is begging for new experiences. And what do we get? More "investigate a distress call on this former mining colony" missions where we land, drive our stupid landbuggy up impossible inclines, and walk into caves that are EXACTLY THE SAME SHAPE AND SIZE as every other cave on every planet in the galaxy.
C'mon, Bioware. Is it really that hard to use some sort of random cave generator? Or maybe even populate some of those caves with enemies that drop things more interesting than gun ammunition that poisons my enemies (not that they had a chance anyway).
The game also makes it impossible to understand with which character I can explore further conversation. Why not include a diary of sorts that comments "Maybe you should talk to Wrex." so I know exactly when I can get more conversation out of him rather than forcing me to walk up to him, explore the dialog trees for the 5138th time, and then walk away....only to have to wait another 60 seconds to ride a stupid elevator up 15 feet.
I wouldn't normally complain about these little things in a game that I love so much. But I complain because these are easy, EASY things for Bioware to do and somehow it didn't strike anybody on their dev team to include these things in the game? - trizzlelv, on 02/06/2008, -2/+10Digg if you're such a fan you read the prequel "Revelation" book. Damn those Batarians and that evil Krogran bounty hunter, Skarr!!
- NoQuarter, on 02/06/2008, -0/+7You can play from the start again with your fully equipped and levelled characters, just choose the Shepard you used when starting a new game.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -0/+7I was hoping for something a little bit closer to, say, the Knights of The Nine DLC for Oblivion. ie: about 6 hours.
- maybeinoregon, on 02/06/2008, -0/+7Yep. There is something intriguing about her - especially her good-bye 'C-ya later'....
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -0/+7DLC used how it should be, not just adding two new cars and a track like cough cough NFS
- av4rice, on 02/06/2008, -4/+11Did they put explicit sex and nudity in the game this time? Might as well if they're going to get criticized for it anyway.
- PeteTech, on 02/06/2008, -6/+13That's great, but where are my COD4 maps?
- moofree, on 02/06/2008, -0/+6It's akin to buying tokens at an arcade.
Except xbox live won't take aluminum slugs :( - lovedunks, on 02/07/2008, -0/+6One of the reasons they do it is to keep credit card transaction fees down.
- kyrre, on 02/06/2008, -4/+10That point system is just plain dumb. What is wrong with the good old dollar?
- FredFredrickson, on 02/06/2008, -1/+7If you've played the game at all, you'd know that they didn't skimp on on-disc content at all... this is just extra.
- FredFredrickson, on 02/06/2008, -0/+6Next up: Mass Effect Hot Coffee patch.
Stupid jokes aside, this really is a great game - I'm on my third or fourth play-through now, and loving every minute of it. - eastbeast314, on 02/06/2008, -0/+6Single Player: ME
Multiplayer: COD4 - tacroy, on 02/07/2008, -0/+6Combat it Oblivion was rather boring. Mass effects comabt is quite enjoyable.
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -1/+7I don't mind paying for brand new content on a game that's already awesome. It's not like horse armor or something.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -3/+9Considering that with each Mass Effect DLC they have to write dialogue, script scenes and record voice work on top of typical asset development, there's probably a pretty decent amount of work involved in prepping 90 minutes of gameplay. I'll pay.
- FredFredrickson, on 02/06/2008, -0/+5Comparing it to Orange Box is hard because the genre's are so different. Saying it wasn't as good as BioShock though? I think of the two, the title of over-rated has got to go to BioShock. Good game, but 10/10 it isn't.
- Evolutuon, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5So in terms of gameplay, ME is more valuable. Sounds like I have a winner. Thanks.
- CollapseControl, on 02/06/2008, -0/+5You can all bitch & complain or voice your dislikes about Mass Effect, but it is a great game whether you believe it or not.
I may also be highly into this game because 1) I don't play RPGs (I don't like Final Fantasy or whatever RPG is held so dear to whomever) & 2) I never played the original Xbox games Bioware made.
I just enjoy playing video games and this game is at the top of my list (as well as many other people I know) as being a great addition to the already enjoyable Xbox 360 console. - lovedunks, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5I think it's funny how Fox has drawn more attention to the sex scene than was previously known. On my first play through I didn't even do it (didn't even know it existed). Fox told me it exists, so now on my 2nd play through I'm trying to find it like a porn fiend without internet access.
- FredFredrickson, on 02/06/2008, -0/+5...what was wrong with Gears? Aside from the lame Live match-making system, everything was fine with it.
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -0/+5Actually it was pretty good. The same writer for the game wrote the book.
- HigherLogic, on 02/07/2008, -0/+4Buy both.
- CrimsonBlur, on 02/06/2008, -0/+4It depends heavily on what type of gaming experience you are in the mood for. ME has no multiplayer and the FPS elements aren't anything like the action in COD4. You'll put hundreds of hours into ME if you go all-out on the quests, the COD4 Campaign is only 8 hours.
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -1/+5Yes, I'm sure the developers would love to go to work every day and make zero dollars for their hard work.
This is actual, legitimate downloadable content. It's not some 128k "key" you pay for that unlocks content already on the disc like a lot of games already do. - Nobi-Wan, on 02/06/2008, -1/+5You're right. Once they were done with the game they should have left it as it was and not kept supporting it. I mean, what would be the fun in that, right?
- Nobi-Wan, on 02/07/2008, -0/+4What game were you playing?
- totorototoro, on 02/06/2008, -1/+5There is going back, in terms of starting a Game+ with all the good stuff you found/bought during the game.
- thebaron2, on 02/07/2008, -1/+5Stop bitching and get a job. You could probably scrounge up $5 in change under your bed, couches, and in your car (if you have one).
If you don't have any of those beg your friends. If you don't have any of those... get a job. - Misinformant, on 02/06/2008, -3/+7WOOWOO
Great news! Can't wait.
Neither can Wrex. -
