- stevenwalters, on 11/07/2009, -2/+35On a side note; Dragon Age is ***** awesome as hell.
- Cougarcat, on 11/07/2009, -1/+30On another side note, the first game is 9.99 on steam this weekend.
- OverZealousHobo, on 11/07/2009, -1/+13I feel like DLC is getting out of control, and it is only a matter of time before games are released completely in an episodic format...(with the DRM ***** to boot)
(I own DLC for many games, and in the beginning saw it as a positive thing, but now that companies are obviously having pre-meditated DLC...they are more likely to hold out on us) - fantasyflamz, on 11/07/2009, -1/+11I completely agree. I played as Jane Shepherd as well and with the voice acting, character animations, and the story, I really felt connected to the character and I'm glad we can bring our character to ME2.
- SantaDuJuan, on 11/07/2009, -3/+12I'm a man, but I always play games as a female when I have a choice. It's not that I want to be a woman I just think it's more interesting. I mean who imagines a woman marine saving the galaxy?!
- wilf_brim, on 11/07/2009, -1/+10DO WANT. But no Wrex for me, he bought it in the first go around. I am really happy that my Jane Sheperd comes back: she was one of my favorite characters in video gaming, ever.
- MercenarySlick, on 11/07/2009, -1/+9Mass Effect was awesome. My favorite game ever. The scale of the exploration, the epic plot, and the overall feel and mood of the game were all terrific. The graphics were amazing, just the overall aesthetic of the game was great. What I liked a lot too was the character customization. I made my character look almost exactly like me, which made me very attached to to him.
I don't even like most RPGs but Mass Effect was incredible. I can't wait for ME2. I hope they stay true to the original and don't destroy it like most sequels do. - happytheclam, on 11/07/2009, -1/+8Should be cool. They are updating a lot of ***** that was lacking from the first I hear.
- MercenarySlick, on 11/07/2009, -2/+9Yeah, I liked Jane because she was a dirty, dirty lesbian.
- kinsider, on 11/07/2009, -1/+7hopefully
- Jaffi, on 11/07/2009, -4/+10Bioware always makes good stuff. They must be German.
- Fazzmania, on 11/07/2009, -1/+6So excited, I hope they do go ahead with the promises of making the combat a lot better than than ME1 though, that was it's downfall.
- Skyplatoon, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3I would have to agree. Dragon Age is the *****.
- elgilicious, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3Why is "downloadable content" abbreviated as "DLC," when "downloadable" is one word? It should just be "DC."
Oh, and Mass Effect 2 looks awesome... - ChileanGoD, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I can already see all the mass effect 2 background and story ads that will flood Digg.
- BiscuitChief, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1"So if you have a level 40, 50, or 60 character you get different kinds of starting bonuses, so you feel like you start off with a character with more experience depending on how experienced you were in the first one."
Just when I thought I was free from the first one I find out about this. - volacide, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1I don't care as long as the actual game I paid for is of a substantial size and quality.
Mass Effect 2 doesn't look like it'll fall under the category of offenders to this rule in my eyes. - IKORKYI, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I HEAR IT GOT A 9/10! DID YOU HEAR IT GOT A 9/10!?!?! I don't know where I heard that, but somewhere I heard it got a 9/10 and i'm not sure where. Probably similar to where I heard Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. I don't know where I heard that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 but i doubt that its true. But, it does concern me. I FEAR that he did, but i don't think he actually did do it.
- patrusk, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1That's what tabs are for.
- kakwakas, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Time to finish those damned sidequests...
- Spire3660, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2Dragon Age: Origin is simply off the hook, and im fresh off a re-run of Fallout 3/Mothership Zeta. The camera system alone is killer.
- danwallace, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2Yeah, I really don't like seeing games launch with DLC already planned. All it does is encourage developers to hold back content for the sake of additional revenue.
- danwallace, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2Short-form for download isn't D, it's DL.
- SpazAttack5000, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1Nothing made me laugh more on the game than when Jane said "The council can kiss my ass!"
- elliotys, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1By the looks of the new baddies, they will have too, otherwise the game may be too hard.
- stevenwalters, on 11/07/2009, -2/+2I think this more or less depends on some of the choices you make.
Without giving away too much, I chose to go to Circle Tower when faced with the issue regarding Conner in Redcliffe Castle. I would have eventually had to go to Circle Tower anyway to do that whole area. Had I chosen one of the other options in the Conner situation, I think it would have ended that situation much more quickly. I would still eventually have gone to Circle Tower anyhow, but through choosing to go there as a means to end the Conner situation, it simply makes doing Circle Tower part of the Arl Eamon quest line.
That's what I think is going on at least, I'm honestly still on that part myself.
I've been extremely impressed by the way your choices can have a huge effect on what happens. Haven't seen anything on this scale in another video game that I can think of. - SantaDuJuan, on 11/07/2009, -2/+2I am so excited for this game, ME 1 is probably my favorite game on the 360. I'm also SO DAMN GLAD they are releasing this on PC at the same time. Is it me or is it a thousand times easier using powers on the PC rather than on the 360.
- DolphinGL, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1I play tested ME2 at Bioware. It was awesome. Can't wait for it.
- Titan615, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1The first game is well worth the download. I bought it when it was 30$. Also, I can't wait for this to come out, first Dragon Age, now Mass Effect 2, and L4D2. It's going to be a busy winter for me!
- reticulate, on 11/07/2009, -2/+2As a minor spoiler-iffic question: are all the major quests as long as Redcliffe's/Arl Eamon's? It just keeps going and going and going, and then you think you've done it, and it branches again.
Unbelieveable mission depth. - elgilicious, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1That may be how it's abbreviated, but in an acronym like this, each letter is supposed to signify a separate word.
- iPlunder, on 11/07/2009, -4/+4Does this one feature full frontal nudity and sex too Fox News?
- kinsider, on 11/07/2009, -3/+3Argh, so sick of IGN redirecting me to a different page so I can't read the article while video is loading!
- SpazAttack5000, on 11/07/2009, -2/+2Those Edmontonians sure know their epic video games.
- neozeed, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1Uh let me guess. MOAR elevator action right? Or should that be total LACK of action.
I don't think I can play this game ever again... The elevators are WAY TOOO PAINFUL!!! - Stemnin, on 11/07/2009, -2/+1Gay sex too. Wait until Limbaugh gets to that point. (doh, thought we were talking about Dragon Age.. damn those guys above!)
- MrSteamTank, on 11/07/2009, -2/+1If you want to play a LONG game try out the witcher. I'm playing dragon age right now but I doubt it can compare to the Witcher in length. 8P That game is absurdly long.
- Apocadall, on 11/07/2009, -3/+2Canadian :P
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/07/2009, -6/+4So it's like Super Mario Bros 3? Did they add a Tanooki suit?
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/07/2009, -4/+1some of the Bioware guys were interviewed on the latest Retronauts podcast.
- pbhawks45, on 11/07/2009, -6/+1*fap*
January cannot come soon enough. - Animan351, on 11/07/2009, -11/+3First one sucked. Why would I want another?
- jadenton, on 11/07/2009, -14/+4Mass Effect was relentlessly mediocre. The pointless exploration which just led to more computer generated terrain punctuated with copies of the same building filled with more stock enemies. The mildly interesting railroad plot and shallow writing. A karma system that hasn't evolved since it was ripped off of Ultima IV (best game of 1985, hands down). Graphics that looked like the belong on the ps2. Long load times for areas with very limit geometry and no objects to interact with beyond opening crates. Dialog that took too long but could only be skipped at risk of choosing the wrong response at the next level of the tree. Game breaking bugs that prevented unlocked abilities from being used. An inventory system that was completely rubish. Absolutely zero depth of simulation; the players options are strictly limited to the pre-scripted choices.
People who have fond memories of Mass Effect, Jade Empire, or KoToR need to go play something like Oblivion or Fallout 3. Heck, even Majora's Mask, or Ultima 7/7b, despite their age, hold up better than Mass Effect.
