There are pages that list phone numbers, emails. names, birthdates, and there city. With that information you can get into there email accounts and IM accounts, which then you can get more information through social engineering. Its very easy to a skilled person, and doesn't take much time. Just invest a few hours in there myspace profile and there friends myspace profile and there you go. - Information from sectorse7en.com

Also if he knew anything about her he can piece together the puzzle, there are reverse lookups, phone books etc online. Apperently he was obsessed enough because he drove 40 hours to her house. And some of these teens post total profiles on facebook and myspace all it takes is a little digging.
