- metalfire, on 10/16/2007, -16/+299WOO HOO 1 more game was just saved from hollywood
- EvanVolm, on 10/16/2007, -7/+111Hah, I'm the one who merged all those clips together in that YouTube video. I didn't think anyone would actually watch it.
- shinythingy, on 10/16/2007, -15/+100This was expected. No matter how good the story of the game is the movie would end up sucking balls somehow
- techmaster, on 10/10/2007, -3/+77But we can still at least look forward to the Halo movie from Bollywood. It has much greater potential.
- whatthefu, on 10/16/2007, -20/+92It wouldn't have made a good movie anyway, honestly.
- kindrobot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+61Ah yes. Master Chief dancing toward his love interest in a foreboding yet oddly enchanting manner as she dances toward, then away... toward then away. I think I just tingled.
- neoprometheush, on 10/16/2007, -2/+53Hugo Weaving never showed his face in V for Vendetta, and that was a great movie.
- zephc, on 10/16/2007, -2/+41Good, this is energy and money that could be better spent on a zombie movie
- Easyoffbam, on 10/16/2007, -0/+33Cue hundreds of Halo home movies being uploaded onto youtube
- SeventhSon, on 10/16/2007, -2/+31I could make the Halo movie. Give me a gun in one hand and a camera on the other shoulder.
- PurpZeY, on 10/16/2007, -4/+32I heard that the guy in the Donatello costume suffocated and that's why they aren't making it.
- Wingnut233, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20You did a great job there! Really made it look seamless, like they were supposed to be put together like that in the first place.
- monkbot1, on 10/16/2007, -1/+20didn't they make make $300 million on the first weeks sales of Halo 3? they could finance it themselves with loose change, get P.J. and Weta to do the effects and have a great little indie movie. As most of you seem to be saying it would probably be the suckiest movie that ever sucked but if they even managed to make a half decent movie it would mean a good night out in the cinema, and Halo players might actually leave the house and see the real world.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Halo is the dumbest looking game? Yeah, and red is the dumbest tasting Kool Aid flavor. It's just a simple recreational activity, no need to get so personal.
- loganhid, on 10/16/2007, -5/+24The only Movie based on a game so far that is actually good is Silent Hill. Metal Gear Solid will be an instant hit so long as Hideo Kojima plays a massive part in directing the movie - if you have ever played any of the MGS games, you will know what i am talking about.
Halo movie would have been nice though so long as Peter Jackson directed it. - GravitySpec, on 10/16/2007, -1/+17I think people miss the point that the movie is only dead as the execs are in a deadlock about the director, who is commenting on this in a kind of sour grapes tone as the execs don't trust him with the movie. If they found a director that the boys upstairs could agree on to produce the film then it would be back on in a heartbeat. The guys running the studios know that the movie will net them a lot of money, thus they are being really careful about who would direct it.
I've seen many movies made from games, and I can agree that not one has really captured the essence of the game. Who knows, maybe there is someone out there that can pull it off one day. It doesn't mean people should give up trying to catch that elusive genie of movie-making. - RobotBuddha, on 10/16/2007, -1/+17In space. Fighting the leprechaun....who is also now in space....along with Jason.
- Skanadian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Going to see it in theatres would be hell. There would be a bunch of 12 year old console fanboys jerking each other off at the site of Master Chief.
- evildeadman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16I trust you're speaking of the cinematography in Silent Hill and not the storyline. Silent Hill is a beautiful film, and if you throw out most of the developed characteristics of the SH universe then the story was probably just ok. I would only watch the film again if I had the option to mute all of the dialogue so the visuals and sound effects could shine through without being spoiled by boring characters and a hackneyed plot (though the ending was a bit interesting, by that point I just didn't care).
- hadessniper, on 10/16/2007, -11/+25I never thought it would get made, my reasoning is that there is no way the big shot movie execs would make a movie where the main character never shows his face. The average movie goer would not be able to connect emotionally with a helmet. So unless they give Master chef a face it wont happen.
- DDDavinnn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Perfect example.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -4/+18Great news!
No, that wasn't sarcasm. - inactive, on 10/16/2007, -5/+18It would be ***** anyway, face it. Just because a game is good, is not an excuse to go make a movie out of it. I'm trying to think of one movie made from a game that has turned out: a) faithful to the game, and b) actually any good.
Coming up blank. - crakbot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Well done.
- modifiedbears, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Blog spam

- MrM1yagi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Oh come on Super Mario Bros. was a classic.
- builtby, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11"Could be incredible if done right." With that ideology you could say that about any movie. Catwoman would have been awesome as a porno.
- betterth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Say what you want, Resident Jovovich, erhm, Mila Evil, Dammit, I mean the Resident Evil movies are quite splendid. I mean, you have Mila Jovovich and slinky red dresses, and really that's all you need to have a great time.
- zmjone2992, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10.....in a galaxy far far away where darth malak is fighting the alien infestation with snake and samus....
- 0260, on 10/16/2007, -3/+12you're right. even predator showed his sexy face.
- counterplex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9...and a young predator who is coming to age in the midst of an all out war with the aliens...
- thomasprebble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Ah well at least it will save Peter Jackson's career from going down the gurgler. Movie adaptations of games almost always suck and digging me down won't change that.
- giveer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Yeah.. there's that dude from Heroes with the blood thing. That's... well, that's one anyway.
- monkbot1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Darth Vadar???
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+8MMm...purple...
- DDDavinnn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7OK, they did show Vader's face so that parallel doesn't really work (you're correct though, it's not Jones). And if you think that's the only reason they didn't show V's face in the movie, then you missed the point entirely.
- gameforge, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8They could just show part of his face like Wilson on Home Improvement.
- luet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Uh... Blomkamp would've made a fantastic director for a Halo movie. Have you seen any of his previous works? They're really quite great. With a larger budget he could've made it the best game-to-movie ever.
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Not dead, just really delayed. There's no way a movie about Halo would NOT get made, it's just a matter of who and when. Mark my words.
- L4WL3RS34L, on 10/16/2007, -1/+8The storyline went completely downhill in Halo 2. I loved it in Halo 1, but now I think it has one of the worst storylines on a new-gen console.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -11/+18Nah.. not dead until Netcraft confirms it.
- modifiedbears, on 10/16/2007, -2/+9The Flood are mutated zombies.
- terminal157, on 10/16/2007, -4/+10They'd just have him take the helmet off then. And then all the Halo fans would hate it and it would flop anyway.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13Idiot.
- diadem2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7,,,,least we forget about the Mortal Kombat movie.
- dpl_, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I completely agree that they were headed in the wrong direction. The style of the shorts was way too gritty. Take a look at this quote:
"I wanted it to feel like the most brutal, real version of science fiction in a war environment that you've seen in a while."
That just doesn't sound like Halo at all. There's nothing at all about Halo that feels brutal, in fact it feels quite cartoony (not a bad thing, I think the art direction in Halo has a certain charm.) - TheJokerV, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6That's because most directors feel they need to change the story for some reason. I know they have to make the story appeal to a wider audience but when u change the story of the video game it ceases being the story of the video game. Doom is a perfect example. I just wish for once they would take a story and just translate it into the big screen.
- nico623, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6UWE BOLL ALL THE WAY !!!!!!!!
Just kidding me...kill me now.
Consider this though : Paul W. Anderson was one of the BEST directiors for ***** ass game-to-movie adeptations when he made the original MK movie...besides the recent Silent Hill movie...no props ? - ProfChaosOmega, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Ugh. I was hoping Fox would push this thing hard until it gets finished but NOOO, Universal has to have a stick up their asses.
