- Sarawanan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+114Friday September 27th - Sunday September 30th ...... Owning friends, forming allies and murdering XBOX Live servers. it's going to be a great weekend.
- SlightlyStoopid, on 10/10/2007, -13/+115honestly it needed this to set itself apart from the bajillion other shooters on the xbox. Yes I know it's Halo, but in its 3rd iteration, it really needed to bring something new to the table
- decay, on 10/10/2007, -8/+75And Bungie pulls through ftw !
Can't wait to tear it up with friends, don't have to get shafted with the split screen :/ - dunlop, on 10/10/2007, -5/+69Awesome, can't wait until Sept 25
- BLyn, on 10/10/2007, -7/+71Quick... i need a new pair of pants. Work is definitely not the place to be right now.
- AdamTReineke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+63Be sure to warn your family that in 55 days you are going to start ignoring them.
- truspector, on 10/10/2007, -16/+66My life is complete.
- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -3/+52If you don't think Halo 3 has shown enough content at this point to set itself apart from Halo 1/2, I don't know what you are looking for. There are tons of new vehicles (and square miles of maps to use them in), a new equipment class, potentially FOUR types of grenades, better graphics, the camera-controllable video replay system, a revamped player customization system (including the new armor permutations), a new music-switching system...and all of these things are just the elements. The gameplay itself can only benefit.
- jayenator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+51Online co-op is the best thing to hit FPSs since FPSs.
- dolemite5005, on 10/10/2007, -2/+45Love,
Bungie - BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -5/+45Everytime a story like this hits I visualize the back end of a black hole spewing out infinite awesomeness and redefining the nature of our existence.
- drworthless, on 10/10/2007, -0/+364 players on legendary over live is going to be fantastic, great news.
- TwoDee, on 10/10/2007, -4/+35Gears of what?
- nodonoug, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24he's on digg...what do you expect?
- jjb123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22"But then again, who needs a chick with you have a stuffed animal with a hole cut out and lined with saran wrap and vaseline?"
What the hell? - GurneyHalloc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Every morning when Bungie wakes up they piss excellence.
- Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22They're really trying to be new. Look at the Saved Films/ Screenshots, and the Forge. Looks good to me, but then again, I am biased.
- JonahNYC, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Well, the $180M+ in first day preorders may actually go up now.
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21This is great news!, part of me thinks that Bungie did this to restart the hype surrounding Halo 3 though. I bet Bungie was going to leave the 4 player co-op in the whole time, they were just bluffing.
- macbookpromat, on 10/10/2007, -9/+26You know, I had this thought a few days back. I looked at Halo and Halo 2 and said to myself, Halo brought awesome gameplay to the table and Halo 2 was just like a patch. If Halo 3 doesn't want to be just another patch, they need the online co-op. This one little thing is what sets Halo 3 apart from all the first person shooters out there. This is going to make the game that much more of a hard hitter title.
- hokeywebb22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16That is by far the most disturbing visual image I have ever gotten from Digg.
- JonahNYC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16It NEEDED to? $180M already in preorders doesn't exactly make me think that Halo 3 wasn't going to be a hot item without it. It certainly is attractive - you have to wonder if they'd already included it and held off mentioning it til preorder sales had plateaued.
- ManIs5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16The Halo 3 beta allowed two local players to join Xbox Live games. I'd be surprised if they took it out.
- SourWorm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18epic
- nhowe, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21BUT... will you be able to play on live with a local guest??
To me the biggest problem with live is that when friends come over they can never play with me on live...
Tried to play these games with no luck
Rainbow 6 Vegas
NBA Jam
Tiger Woods
and a few others i think...
Hopefully more games will support guests and two player local VS live
my 2 cents - paravis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Not imo. There isn't a single FPS to this date, that has matched Halo's enemy AI or even come near it with the exception of F.E.A.R. As long as it retains that crown, I'm more than happy with just more content, with some new weapons and new small gameplay changes, and good old legendary (and heroic) mode.
To truly appreciate and understand how amazing halo is, you have to play halo and 2 on Legendary mode (or heroic on halo 2 as they changed the spawn system in 2 and it makes it insanely harder) preferably co-op. It's only then do you start to see the incredible intelligence of the enemies, as they flank you, pull back, dive from grenades, warn others, react to seeing your light, and much more. Best thing is, each time you replay any encounter, it does not play out the exact same way, every single time it is different.
There are so many gamers out there, there majority of which are PC gamer elitists, you disregard halo or call it overrated, yet they have either not even played it, and/or have not play it on Legendary. I myself, have been pc gaming since wolfenstein, and played quake, near daily, for 10 years almost, online. I went through the q1, q2, and q3 eras, and have played a ton of CS, HL, FEAR, RTCW, farcry etc etc. While all are great games, none of them shocked me as much as halo's single player did. Unbelievable AI (I'm repeating myself sorry), and FUN physics. Halo was the first game, where when you'd throw a grenade into a pile of objects and enemies, they would fly across the map as it explodes. Albeit not too realistic, it makes it so much more satisfying to see that happen. Now you are seeing FPS games imitating those very physics, or at least trying to. - Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16You don't need to, and you can easily mute them.
- MaynardJK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Maybe you shouldn't fill your friends list with foul-mouthed 12 year olds then.
- NorCal05, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Whoa...thats heavy
- truspector, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13He's really got it planned out thought.
- hollismb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Yes, three local guests, I believe, just like Halo 2 (for multiplayer at least).
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Admittedly, I'm biased because I love all things Halo. But I feel that the gameplay itself is still unmatched. Yes, Halo 2 was a patch with a subpar singleplayer campaign. But Halo 3 (from the beta) brings all sorts of awesome stuff to the table. The sound effects were the first thing I noticed--never have I heard more realistic distant gunshots or sound effects. The graphics, while not incredible, are definitely "next-gen." This co-op, combined with a hopefully lethal Legendary difficulty, should make this game incredible.
- celkin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12"That is by far the most disturbing visual image I have ever gotten from Digg."
You must be new here. - JonahNYC, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14TMI, big time.
- sk8ordiemofo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13***** YES
- HeatVision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Yes, Bungie's website confirms that you can have 2-player co-op split-screen and join a campaign over Live with your guest.
- lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -12/+21Sounds like you need to get one.
- spooniep, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Here's the official post from Bungie on this:
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=thesoundofsack
Looks like we'll have 4-player co-op Campaign mode one either Xbox Live or System Link.
Hoorah! - mobber, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i really wish someone would offer suggestions to finish up this halo 2.5 hating. what will define halo 3 to you? i'll wait....
halo 3 has everything that can be offered. great graphics, great multiplayer, sound, physics. campaign was halo 2s only weakness. but hell, i've played the multiplayer way more than probally any other games campaign. - DavidGX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It's official, you're a dumbass.
- Sairgem, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Then don't be an ***** and make stupid comments like that. Simple.
- manbearpigm16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I merely tolerate people, so i'm okay.
- GSullivan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Oh yeah, adding a feature that countless players have been asking for was a wretched idea, what will they screw up next?
- jarckitekt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7red vs blue the blood gulch chronicles ended. I bet they have a red vs blue but it will be set somewhere else other than blood gulch. and kinda be a new story line.
- BLyn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7They said this was one of the reasons why they were considering not putting in 4 player co-op, and that it was not going to be in at all unless arrangements were made. Therefore, i'm assuming we'll see some 4 people vehicle transports... (there have been leaks already haven't there?)
- PunkRampant, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I ignore my family already, but this will take me away from my friends as well, except the ones who play Live with me.
- rishid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Yep. a little over 55 days. http://www.halo3countdown.com/
It is a fun site to set as your background using Active Desktop... I sometimes just sit there and watch it.. hoping it goes quicker... ;) - BattleScars, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Of course
- mashw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Luke Smith, Neogaf, confirmed.
- NinjaBoy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I just bought my 360 about two weeks ago. So you can be assured there will be a price drop.
