Chances are you need to tweak the port forwarding settings on your system to keep the fragging flowing freely. Here's a quick rundown of this fairly straight-forward process.

Network engineers at Microsoft test these routers rigorously to ensure that they can support up to four simultaneously connected Xbox 360 consoles, will have an "Open" NAT (meaning they will add translations to the NAT address table without a connection being explicitly established), and usually have built-in support for UPnP along with the streaming protocols the Xbox 360 console uses for to receive media from a client computer.

If you haven't FWD'ed your ports yet, then you've got some problems.
