- NamesTwister, on 07/24/2009, -16/+72***** you Bungie, stop making me pay to keep playing Halo 3 multiplayer!
- acevoncash, on 07/24/2009, -4/+54I've heard that one before.
- duggtodeath, on 07/24/2009, -20/+55Halo Reacharound to be last Halo game - Bungie working on new IP
/fixed - smashingmonkey, on 07/25/2009, -1/+32Corrected: Halo Reach to be *Bungie's* last Halo game.
As for the new IP, that's really old news. - smashingmonkey, on 07/25/2009, -0/+30Won't happen on the PS3. MS owns everything Halo.
- Firespray1138, on 07/25/2009, -1/+30With Halo 3 they said it would be the last game in the story arc, not the last Halo game.
- wcaclimbing, on 07/25/2009, -1/+30I'm pretty sure it stands for 'Intellectual Property'.
- smoothmann, on 07/25/2009, -1/+26I apologize for this......and I know this will get dugg down, but..
What is IP? Not sure if I've heard of that one yet - Frozenfuryblade, on 07/24/2009, -2/+26hasn't that basically been bungie in the past few years? They haven't done anything other than Halo for years.
- bstockwell, on 07/24/2009, -2/+25Hearing this, I'd rather they have killed Master Chief than leave him to float through space.
- MrLazySmurf, on 07/24/2009, -9/+31didn't they say the same thing about Halo 3? Keep making em. Ill keep playing em.. Screw the new IP; just make a division dedicated to Halo games.
- MarvelingOne, on 07/25/2009, -0/+20Please be Pimps at sea it has been so long since we have had any new information on it.
- GooGaming, on 08/07/2009, -1/+18I doubt it will be the last. If sales are good they will consider another.
- BugMeNot2, on 07/25/2009, -0/+16Funny you say that, because Microsoft did just announce a new division to work just on Halo products.
343 Industries. - Chewie67, on 07/25/2009, -0/+16Last by Bungie.
They'll probably have some 3rd rate company keep pumping out sequels.
See also: Sonic and Spyro - _Caboose_, on 07/25/2009, -0/+15IP stands for Intellectual Property, which is (according to Wikipedia) the "legal property rights over creations of the mind, both artistic and commercial, and the corresponding fields of law." Basically they're working on something new, something that they've created independently.
- inactive, on 07/24/2009, -0/+12Lol, sales will be just fine - don't worry about that!
- Konrad9, on 07/25/2009, -3/+15If it was up to Bungie, all of the DLC would be free.
- V3NOM, on 07/25/2009, -0/+12Many fans misconstrued it to indicate a new IP as the next project though, hence the confusion.
Halo is a cash cow. If nothing else, this is ample reason to be doubtful unless another sequel is denied it absolute terms. - doshindude, on 07/24/2009, -4/+15Suuuure, "Finish The Fight" was supposed to mean that back in the day too. There will be more Halo games.
- jesusxenu, on 07/25/2009, -0/+11its funny, because Microsoft doesn't own Bungie....
- MJM573, on 07/25/2009, -2/+11Idk if I really believe that. You may be right but the way some of Bungie's developers talk on the Bungie.net forums at least what I've seen makes me think otherwise. Its just my opinion and I could be wrong but if Bungie was cool about DLC then why do I need all the maps to play the same game I bought two years ago?
- suntzusputnik, on 07/25/2009, -1/+10the new ip will have master chief as a playable character
- SolidSamus, on 07/25/2009, -0/+8yeah, because they are now an INDEPENDENT developer. so they can indeed develop for other platforms/consoles.
- ACiDGRiM, on 07/25/2009, -0/+8Intellectual Property, It's the general term for ideas and concepts that companies own rights to.
E.G. The sims, Fallout, and Halo are IP's
Not Internet Protocol. - fanfablebig, on 07/25/2009, -0/+8Probably wont be anymore Halo games but i'm sure they will make a Marathon trilogy.
- Cheesepuffly, on 07/25/2009, -2/+10Yes but this is a new franchise, thus not Halo, thus possibility on PS3
- strictnein, on 07/25/2009, -1/+8Yep. And I think everyone who finished Halo 3 on Legendary knows what the first game will be about.
It's kind of a win-win. I want Bungie to do stuff other than Halo, but I also want another FPS with Master Chief in it. - ACiDGRiM, on 07/25/2009, -0/+7They still own ALL of Halo.
- bagelmaster, on 07/25/2009, -0/+6ACiDGRiM is correct. A jackass, but correct. Almost all companies refer to any new franchises as IPs at some point.
- Joshislong, on 07/25/2009, -4/+10It really is ***** that Bungie forces you to buy the maps to play a majority of the multiplayer online. It's a shame they haven't taken more flak about this from the media.
- V3NOM, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5Certain playlists require all of them. Most playlists, in fact.
- pocketjacks, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5Hooray original ideas!!
- ShingoEX, on 07/25/2009, -1/+6I buried it because you're acting like a stupid child.
- strictnein, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5MS has a new dev studio, 343 Industries, that will continue making Halo games. The first choice for a new game is clearly to expand on the end of Halo 3.
- ACiDGRiM, on 07/25/2009, -3/+8Who the ***** says they're working on a new intellectual property? Well, besides bungie
Um, EVERYONE refers to their projects as IP, it's the standard term, and It makes you look pretty dumb to say "Who the ***** says they're working on a new intellectual property?" - cthellis, on 07/26/2009, -0/+5Yeah, but it's not like they had to do anything but have the janitor update the code for that, now is it? ;-)
- Cheesepuffly, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5im talking about what ever they start next, not this.
- V3NOM, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5Since their new IP will be their first developed since they separated from Microsoft, I hope there's a lot less of a money-whoring influence on the way the game works. I hate having to pay for maps to continue playing any of the Matchmaking playlists in Halo 3.
- ShingoEX, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5Uh...Sonic Team still does Sonic. Bad analogy.
- goodnewsevery1, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5What would be nice is a full blown story/map editor so that expansions can be created and disturbed by players. Why do I have to pay over and over for the same engine.
- Frozenfuryblade, on 07/24/2009, -2/+7Doesn't mean bungie will be making them.
- DarkShroud, on 07/25/2009, -0/+5I'm actually a Windows guy, you must not have seen any of my posts before.
I listed Mac because that's the plateform Marathon started on. I expect companies to show some loyality to their base/history you know the people who buy their products. Silly me for thinking that way. - spartan8103, on 07/25/2009, -1/+6My guess. Last Halo game Bungie works on. Microsoft Game Studios will likely continue the franchise. I believe that was the condition of Bungie splitting away from MS. They get to keep the rights to Halo.
- DarkShroud, on 07/25/2009, -1/+5I guess it would kill them to make a new Marathon for Mac & PC.
- CaptZomborg, on 07/25/2009, -0/+4Didn't they say this early in Halo 3 development?
- JudgeMonkey, on 07/25/2009, -0/+4I am fairly sure he meant all of the DLC, and now basically the need to buy a whole new game, not the cost of xbox live.
- Kbriggs, on 07/24/2009, -7/+11Ding dong the chief is dead!
- SMELLtheGluv, on 07/25/2009, -0/+4WAT DID U SAY NUB 1V1 GUARDIAN NO RADAR NO HAMMER SENDING INV NOW
