- smiley2billion, on 10/14/2007, -4/+43Halo Tournament 2009?
- RonAcierno, on 02/07/2008, -7/+43I hope that they continue to put out installments of the game, even if it's just multiplayer. Like every so many years come out with another multiplayer game with ALL the same maps plus many more since they will have the space because of no single player. I dont understand why shooting games get rid of old maps or only keep a few, I think they should just add to it.
- mattcoady, on 10/14/2007, -4/+39I'd rather get downloadable updates to the game I've already bought instead of milking it out like a madden.
- swatward, on 10/10/2007, -4/+37My life is like a black abyss, my soul so dark, razors penetrate my heart.
Go back to myspace. - aldenhg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34I disagree. I love the campaign play just as much as the muliplayer (I still pick up Halo and Halo 2 from time to time) and I think they should make full games until they start to suck. The ending left it wide open for MC and Cortana to go have some crazy adventures, so why not let them?
- edaz323, on 10/10/2007, -6/+36hi mom
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27If that doesn't make the majority take video games more seriously in the same respect as movies, I don't know what will.
- dunlop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Here are some of your intellectual contributions to digg:
"Stand back everybody! Internet Weak Guy is here",
"***** awesome. I hate reality TV.",
"Use the ***** reply button" ,
"I know!! Haha. People clap at stupid ***** all the damn time. Like at movies. What's the point in it? People are just dumb, I think.",
So how about you shut the ***** up and let people enjoy the success of their game? - Modestexcuse, on 10/10/2007, -14/+28Congrats to Bungie and M$, despite all the naysayers, these are amazing figures. Who cares what the PS fanboys say....those numbers speak for themselves.
- MomentDEFINED, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12These are so retardedly inaccurate it's not even worth digging you down myself.
- bluenullity, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Thats great and all but damn if I need more time to play these things. Damn gaming for creating a perfect storm of games; Bioshock (again), TF2, Hellgate, Tabulu Rasa, Zelda, Halo 3, ETQW, UT3. Arrgh!
Calling on Lord Mighty Hiro master of S/T to grant me more time! - ZephyrNinety, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I think maybe they can continue the Halo series, but the trilogy has to end there or it's just cheesy.
Would love "Halo: Subtitle Here" but not a Halo 4 - Rabbittt, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Wow, they could have made Billion$ if not for the devastating effect of EVIL PIRATES..
/sarcasm - gwolf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9How is that your problem.
You should leave the business strategy to the experts, your telling MS how to succeed in business is hysterically funny. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13Sorry, who mentioned sony??
- m00nstone, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Microsoft/Bungie timing is perfect. Right when the PS3 couldn't be in worse shape, Halo 3 comes along to turn the knife. This wave should carry the 360 through the holiday season quite nicely. However, I still think the Wii/DS will outsell everyone through the holiday season.
- ThinkBox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Dreamcast?
- deuceswilde, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I don't know what comments you're reading, but absolutely no one talked about paying for map packs at all in this thread. Although it is ironic that you criticize everyone for being idiots.
- moskaudancer, on 10/14/2007, -0/+6Ooh, I've got one! How about they go to that alternate universe where everyone has little goatees? You know, like in that episode of Star Trek!
Problem is, you wouldn't be able to tell the Evil MC from the good one, so there would be hijinks!
BTW, not trying to be an ass. I actually liked how they ended the story, but left room for another without it being too contrived. - ThinkBox, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11A lot of people on Digg are idiots. Also, a lot of people on Digg like to sarcastically leave comments like the Digg idiots do.
Thusly, when i scroll the comments. I see a lot of people being idiots and a lot of people talking like idiots.
Both are annoying, neither are funny, Both need to stop, neither make Digg a better place. - GatorLCA, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Right becasue you really do not understand the story or were immersed in the storyline since the original Halo. I'm sure people who watched Return of the Jedi didn't like it or said, "Meh, what's so great about that". You need to play the other 2 games
- m00nstone, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Hey Sony fanboy, go troll somewhere else!
- moskaudancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I laughed mainly at the word "retardedly". I intend to use it in formal presentations from now on.
- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7You must be thinking of the PC industry. Piracy has never made much of a dent in the console market. At least in the US.
- litheon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5*sigh* http://beta.majornelson.com
- secretrk1313, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!
- martyFREEDOM, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Don't forget HL2: Ep 2
- jpjandrade, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Nope, I want the console I bought to win, and I want everyone who didn't choose what I chose to lose. Sorry.
- mercurysquad, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7crysis is turning out to be another duke nukem forever
- adrenaline33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You bring up a good point but there are still things to consider. For example, a family of 4 needs one copy of Halo but needs to buy 4 movie tickets. And 4 people can easily have a good time with 1 copy. This makes it closer. If the video game industry had only 1 format, 1 system then Halo 3 would probably have sold $500 million by now. And even if we accept your logic that it is a 6x ratio(which is irrelevant anyways, I'm not sure what your point is with that), Halo 3 will continue to sell throughout the year(especially xmas time), whereas a movie falls apart after 2-3 weeks.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I wonder how much money has been made on xbox purchases that were waiting on Halo 3... (me, well, next weekend)
- Dynamo418, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9Yeah i bet all the people who play Halo are uncivilized barbarians, who have never played REAL MAN games! What makes a game mediocre? You not liking it? Boo hoo, go play Half Life some more. The game is fun. It's a blast to play. That's why people buy it. I'd say it's the best multiplayer game I've ever played, and yeah i've played CS, Unreal, the lot.
- Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Your testimony proves it.
Okay guys, this might be a bit of a spoiler for the rest of the thread, but here goes.
Halo 3 is a fun game. It's true. Co-operative is a blast, multiplayer is also good.
Halo 3 is not the best game in the world. It's not the most innovative, but it's a well polished product.
People who say it's a terrible game are tools. I've played terrible games, Halo 3 is not terrible. Nor is it the best game, but it's definitely in my Top 20. - gwolf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Thanks for sharing, now go back to doing... well whatever it is you do when your not trolling.
- 1337Einstein, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Chances are that there will be a prequel, perhaps taking place during Halo Wars.
- PartOfTheNoise, on 10/31/2007, -2/+5CRYSIS is what u´re waiting for... ;-)
- getrealnow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3More like 100 million
- drakethegreat, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10(puts on digg idiot cap)
OMG but Halo 3 Singleplayer sucks because some Aussie told me its cool to think that in a youtube video. RABBLE RABBLE. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I know a hell of a lot of people who waited for the Gears of War maps to become free. So much for your "brainless legion of robots." Hell, I didn't even download the Halo 2 maps until they became free, either.
And why are you making fun of the way some people choose to have fun with their money? Do you stand in front of Disneyland and yell at people buying tickets telling them that they should go to Sea World? Let people have fun with their money in their own way. I don't get how some people are personally offended by stuff like this. - HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Jeeze, it must be true!
What a fool I am for enjoying this game! - adrenaline33, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I don't really think there is a reason to compare Wii sales with anything though. The "battle" between 360 and PS3 is actually somewhat warranted because they are directly competing for exclusives and "focus" on multi-platform games. I'm not sure that a developer is going to scrap their revolutionary big game because the Wii is in a few more homes than the 360.
- battletrax, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2yeah add geometry editing to forge.
- Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Or go the Mario route. Master Chief Warthog racing! Master Chief Pinball! And Arbiter ware, where you do fun party games like flip the warthog, and whack-the-grunt.
- Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Halo 3 has a much smaller audience, so the fact that it can even compare financially is impressive.
In the smaller world of Gamers, Halo 3 has been the biggest entertainment release in recent times. - dunlop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"So the Microsoft hype machine needs to get over that."
This is the point of hype...they will play with any numbers that server their purpose. My problem with your response is that if this same situation happens for the Wii, you would be screaming it from the highest cliffs. - KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Actually no I wouldnt... I did say that this is the biggest launch in console game history, I gave them that. And if Galaxy sells more I will say woohooo look at that, beat halo's first week. But if Nintendo tries to compare it to movies and such based on money earned and not units sold I will be saying the same thing. Its just a pet peeve of mine. I mean going by that then PS3 is more successful then 360 or Wii this year isn't it? It sold less but since its more money then the other two systems it may have made more money wise (not profit, just money earned from hardware sales because of its higher price).
Halo 3 made a huuuuuuuuuuuge amount of money, many units sold, record breaking first day sales and I assume first week sales too. I am not denying its success... - scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9I'm still waiting for an actually good PC game to come out this year.
- DrThunder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2$300,000,000 / $60 = 5,000,000 copies, but with the box sets it is probably closer to 3 to 4 million copies sold. That means 6 to 7 million 360 owners did not care much about Halo 3.
