- LordSkywalker, on 11/19/2007, -4/+122I'd consider it at 5 bucks for a 3-map pack, but not $10. Buying at these prices just encourages them to do it more often by letting them know we're accepting of it. What's the point of complaining if you end up buying them? As they say, money talks.
- Synn, on 11/19/2007, -10/+116I have this feeling that they had these maps finished before Halo 3 was even released.
- rikwakefield, on 11/19/2007, -2/+99I'm just going to wait till they're free. I'm in no rush.
- saunders45, on 11/19/2007, -13/+92Screw this. They gave us less maps than Halo 1 or 2, and they are definitely not as good. I knew this was going to happen. Give us crappy maps.... and then start charging out the ass for good ones. Like the article says, you can only play the same 3 maps in a playlist 1,00 times over. At least COD 4 give you 16 out of the box...
- sUGArDawg, on 11/19/2007, -7/+60Always best to link the actual source:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/h/halo3/news/20071 ... - MrBogard, on 11/19/2007, -9/+60Way overpriced. The game has sold extremely well, and has probably achieved record profits for a single title for MGS, yet they continue to treat the fanbase like crap. And it's not just the COST that pisses me off--it's the idea that they can segregate the community like this (those willing to pay, versus those smart enough to hold out) and it won't effect us. It's so very unfortunate that this will probably sell well enough to justify ripping a community in two. They *made* Epic do the same thing to Gears of War, which ruined the game for me.
They can keep it. I'll keep playing Call of Duty 4 (on PC) instead.. where I'll probably be treated to free support and additional maps free of charge. It amazes me to think that there are people out there that paid $130 for this game, and they're being asked for more. It's only made worse by the fact that the game didn't ship with enough content out of the box, every playlist feels so limited, and we keep getting the same maps over and over again. How many times can one man play Snowbound?
Shame on you MGS. Stop putting yourselves first in every scenario. - rupprupp29, on 11/19/2007, -5/+54I already paid 60 bucks for Halo 3 - I'm not paying another 10. And if I'm not allowed to play online without the new maps, oh well! Just leaves more time for CoD 4.
- tbunreal, on 11/19/2007, -0/+263 doubles are less then 5 bucks =] i work there i know. yes i know, im going places in life

I love playing Halo 3 but paying that much for such a small amount of content is just setting gamers up for further (worse) wallet-rapings in the future. And here I thought the Guitar Hero downloads were ridiculous.
- trogdorBURN, on 11/19/2007, -3/+24Agreed, but they will be free in Spring. Good things come to those who wait. Free things also.
- HeatVision, on 11/19/2007, -3/+24Wow, that's some nerve. Microsoft brags how Halo 3 has made over $300 Million so far, but won't spread any goodwill back to the people who made that happen. Hey Microsoft, would it kill you to release a 3-level map pack for free, and I don't mean "free in six months" free?
- BDLou, on 11/19/2007, -11/+32Do half the people commenting here even play Halo 3? If you're a Halo 3 player and can afford it, you're buying these maps. You know you are...
- ronnsprocket, on 11/19/2007, -5/+24they really did this right. the only reason I stopped playing Halo recently was because the thought of playing snowbound (or any other map) one more time would just make me sick. I totally agree that released this game with subpar map content in order to penetrate our pockets with ***** map packs. Christ, its ***** like this that make me hate these companies. They are completely taking advantage the consumers.
I remember being excited about all the "extra content" that would be available with the xbox live and hard drive onboard. And, fighting this as long as possible, I always gave the devs and MS the benefit of the doubt...feeding their babies and *****. Especially when we got some free maps from the Huge sales of GoW, you would think bungie could slip us a bone considering some of us payed like 130 for the damn game. Now, I really have lost respect. This trend of companies selling half complete titles in order to charge more for the full experience is going to continue to grow. which will do nothing but increase piracy in console gaming. Jesus Christ, this is getting out of hand. - gglynn07, on 11/19/2007, -0/+19Dugg for admitting you work at Mcdonalds...We all have to start somewhere: )
- SaladCactusKing, on 11/19/2007, -3/+2210 bucks :/
- mtrip, on 11/19/2007, -1/+19The maps are worth whatever the consumer is willing to pay for them period.
- krekc, on 11/19/2007, -0/+17Its not the cost that bothers me so much its the size of the maps. We have one small map so far and its decent. Other than that every map is midrange to large. I would love to see Chiron or Damnation.
- Timan, on 11/19/2007, -1/+18I think they're 400 / 5$ too much, but its halo so everyone will buy em. Game needed maps badly too, hopefully one or two of them show up in big team battle.
- saunders45, on 11/19/2007, -6/+22@ panteradactyl. I have an excellent job, a wife, and plenty of things to be happy about. However, this is one more step down a scary path the gaming industry has taken. The days of getting good & complete games is over. Studio's are holding back content, just to charge you extra. Look at what EA did with Need For Speed, they were charging extra for content ALREADY ON THE DISK. It's not so much the money, as it is the principle.
- Rooplee, on 11/19/2007, -0/+15Microsoft....... give us back Chillout, Prisoner, Damnation, and Hang Em High for Halo 3. That would be awesome.
- Nobi-Wan, on 11/19/2007, -0/+15This isn't the movies, we're talking about DLC for a game we already spent a lot of money on. I rarely watch the "turds" you're talking about because most movies nowadays are complete crap. If you want to try to make a fair comparison this would be like paying for deleted/bonus scenes on a DVD release of your favorite movie or TV show.
- MerlinTW, on 11/19/2007, -4/+17Sounds like they are pulling the same stunts that EA does for BF2. Better not to buy it and wait for it to be free.
- Jomwilli, on 11/19/2007, -2/+15Veto! VEeeeeeto!! No VIP, Veeeetooooooo! (background "mom, make me a hot pocket"), Veto! Veeeeeeetooooo! Veto, veto, veetoooooo!
- PhrosTT, on 11/19/2007, -1/+13Does anybody know if TF2 will be getting new maps soon. One ***** CTF map is *****.
- Nobi-Wan, on 11/19/2007, -0/+12Um, yeah...I think I said that already.
- talmaximus, on 11/19/2007, -2/+14Obviously you don't play Halo online much.
- suppah, on 11/19/2007, -4/+15OK, no more halo3 until next spring. now I'll have plenty o'time to study ;)
- munkyxtc, on 11/19/2007, -2/+12$10 for 3 maps is too much. I'll hang tight until spring and download for free; Halo 3 will still be wildly popular still and I'll actually get a chance to play some of the others I've gotten for the holidays
- crawf061, on 11/19/2007, -1/+11That is the real problem in it all. This isn't them improving a game to keep the users happy. This is them excluding part of the game in order to generate more income. Companies lose respect this way.
- Chrino, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10I agree. It's gotten to the point when I get way too excited to see Guardian come up in multiplayer.
- MrBogard, on 11/19/2007, -3/+12Yeah.. and by then the next set of new maps will be available. I'm surprised I'm getting dugg down. I love Halo 3, but this is absurd. But go ahead people--pay for these maps and see if it doesn't just get worse from here on out.
- Nobi-Wan, on 11/19/2007, -1/+10You forgot "/opinion."
Why the hell do you care if other people enjoy a different FPS than you? COD4 is fun but it's not my style and I've got a ton of other games in the meantime to play. Sue me. - kwazyJAS, on 11/19/2007, -0/+9Here is a better link with more info:
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topne ... - Frostman3D, on 11/19/2007, -3/+12This is a bad move by Bungie or Microsoft. There's no way in Hell I'm paying $10 for 3 maps. That's $3.33 per map.
I paid $60 for the game, and it came with 11 maps that I'm sick of. I'm pretty sure I can wait till spring, but it's ***** for them to do that.
They should support the game, not rape wallets of the people that have already forked out so much money. - talmaximus, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9Slight exaggerations there...come back when there are more people playing COD4 world wide than Halo, and more copies of COD4 being sold than Halo 3. Then we'll take that comment seriously.
- Cubsman44, on 11/19/2007, -3/+11Since when???
- hollismb, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8Yes, he means Call of Duty 4. It's got 16 maps.
- munkyxtc, on 11/19/2007, -2/+10I won't disagree that the maps will surely be fun. Think that $3.33 per map is too expensive; 5 for $10 would be acceptable.
- joegibes, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9Reminds me of Team Fortress 2 (only has 6 maps).
But VALVe has the Source SDK for free download (if you own the game of course), so community-made maps can fill that gap. - rubbers0ul, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8They call that a pelican in some parts...
- Toast1185, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8Meh, just don't buy it then, I'm not.
- crawf061, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8Seriously, between COD4, Assassin's Creed, Orange Box, and Halo 3, I'm beginning to forget what trees look like.
- Shaflugi, on 11/20/2007, -0/+8Then maybe you should play some Crysis!
- xino, on 11/20/2007, -0/+73 maps is the better value, but the better of any 2 choices isn't always good. Some times it just isn't as bad as the other. Another good comparison would be these 3 maps for $10 with the 5 maps that were $10.99 in Halo 2.
- MuffinPatrol, on 11/19/2007, -0/+7lol, ya right.
- Nobi-Wan, on 11/19/2007, -0/+7I hear you. I still have a ton of games to play until they're free. Plus there are only THREE MAPS. It's not like it's going to cripple matchmaking. I'm going to be playing a ton of Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, Rock Band, The Orange Box, Mass Effect, and Halo 3. I can deal without 3 maps that are probably going to rarely show up in the mix anyway.
- cap11235, on 11/19/2007, -4/+11That argument against PC gaming is BS. You don't have to upgrade, just reduce the settings. Instead of getting graphics boost each time a new game comes out, you will instead have similar graphics over all games, just like consoles. It's nice to have a choice.
- skyfire1, on 11/19/2007, -1/+7Whooosh!
- PunkRampant, on 11/19/2007, -1/+7I think you just quoted my little brother, word for word.
