- McGrude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Um... the Team Slayer play list is slayer and the Rumble Pit play list is free for all slayer. So um, yeah there is slayer. I've played a CTF match so that is in there too. Just because 2o2p didn't cover those doesn't mean they don't exist. 2o2p just covered the new or changed game types. No need to describe game types many already know.
Also, tea-bagging works just fine. - oldtimegamer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12No need.

- SAOSiN, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11I don't need hi-end graphics for me to enjoy a game, as long as its fun to play you'll get my $50-60.
- Smills, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Ahh, finally some info on the missile pod. Also, people, stop bitching about the graphics. This isn't Gears of War, it is Halo 3. Different art styles. I think it looks awesome anyway, a very noticeable difference from Halo 2.
- PaulC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Sorry SoupNazzi I edited my comment after seeing my question addressed in the article. With the change in control scheme, I knew that any combos involving the X button wouldn't work, but I was hoping it would be possible using the left bumper or something.
It's kind of a shame because the quick melee combo has been second nature since I discovered it playing LAN games of the original Halo. Combos like these have also become staples to many of the professional Halo players. I wonder how this will impact the competitive aspect of the community? - slimbooty, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Official gameplay videos for the Beta:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=19447&type=wmv - SoupNazzi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9From what I have read on MLGpro.com, the majority of the "Pro" players are not overly saddened by the loss of the button combos.
Many comments stated that they felt it made H2 easy enough for anyone to play competitively. They want competitive play to be more about overall skill and not button glitches that anyone can pull off with practice. (though, some of those combos are pretty difficult).
They are viewing this initial Beta as a mix between HaloCE and H2 and for the majority, are pleased with it. So far. - twistedcaboose, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Great details.
- HeReCoMeSdAbOoM, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Thanks for the info. I have a general idea and can get to fragging once given the chance! Only a few hrs left.
- SoupNazzi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Whoever asked about the "BXB" Melee - No, it isn't back. None of the current H2 button combos that use the "X" button work.
However, it is possible that the "YY" reload, and the "BYB" melee still work. Guess we'll just have to see if they make it to the final build. - LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It's a glitch that gives an unfair advantage to those "in the know". Of course they wouldn't add it back in. At least I hope they wouldn't...
Yes, it's a staple for current players but that's because it's a well-known glitch. If no one can do, the effect will very simply be "nobody can do it so no one gets the edge". - SoupNazzi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5asif5th - "One thing I want answered, is humping like in Halo 1, or slow like in Halo 2? The slowness the just ruined the intimidation. Also...looking at the gametypes...very disappointing that they kept out slayer and CTF."
Here's your answer:
Quote from MLGpro forums:
"Someone has told me that the crotch animation is fast, like H1's. So we can have our super fast teabags back!" - estvir, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Than ignore it.
Digg isn't your personal site, it's for everyone and if Halo3 is currently a popular thing than deal with it or go to another site. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Thank God they've seemed to realize that Halo 2 was waaay too easy to get kills with auto aiming headshots and Plasma Pistol bursts. It seems like Halo 3 is what Halo 2 should have been.
- The1337Dude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Why the hell did my console have to break days before the Beta?!
- ravage386, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2People just don't give the updated lighting engine enough credit. It looks awesome.
- arcticblue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1For those that want to see the teabagging animation, the Red vs Blue Halo 3 PSA has it (it's in the Marketplace for free). They also have the "man cannon" which I thought was pretty cool. Enjoy :)
- cawpin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh man, that sucks that rockets don't track. I have that down to a science in Halo 2. I love my rockets.

http://www.flightattendanttrainingonline.com/fligh ... - tjsocr1, on 02/22/2008, -0/+0You could also check out http://www.lamelime.com and express your thoughts and opinons on Halo 3 =)
- doorgunnerjgs, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Really great write up Drost! Probably the very best I've seen on our forums at 2o2p or on Bungie. As a F&F participant, I think you have captured not only the details, but the feel for the game.
- inajeep, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Great article and worth the read.
- miochza, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Great article, best of the beta impressions so far.
- rashanii, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Thank you, Drost. Me love you LONG TIME!
- fugazi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I pretty much did the same thing over at http://onthexbox.com/article71.html
- tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Although I will cry over the removal of these X-cancel glitches, it will certainly level the playing field and give everyone a fair fighting chance.
- BigUncleMike, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2nice write
- asif5th, on 10/11/2007, -11/+6One thing I want answered, is humping like in Halo 1, or slow like in Halo 2? The slowness the just ruined the intimidation. Also...looking at the gametypes...very disappointing that they kept out slayer and CTF.
- th3midnighter, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3I will still send hate messages until I'm playing the game tomorrow. As for the write up, Good Job!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3What a terrible ***** article. Half of it sounded like the guy was on the defensive ("I read in some other review that it doesn’t look “next gen.” Honestly, what the hell does that really mean anyway?"). The other half was manual-style descriptions of various in-game items. The guy even admitted to be a fanboy at the end, after heaping insane hype-building praise on this game.
I feel dumber for reading this. Honestly, it sounds like it was written by a 12 year old. The writing style was just, ughh... "raving fanboy" sounds like a proper name for this writing style.
If you find any redeeming part of this article, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to wait for slightly more impartial people to describe this hyped-beyond-belief game for me. It's like reading a description of the iPod by an Apple fanboy, what the hell could you possibly get from something like this?
And yes, I DO own an Xbox 360, and yes, I AM hoping this game turns out well, because I'll probably buy it and hopefully enjoy it. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1This looks no better than the last one.

- cevil203, on 10/11/2007, -15/+1im all for halo3, but jesus how many articles on it are gonna hit the front page of digg...seriously i dont give a ***** about unboxing the halo3 zune..
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -20/+6FTA: "What’s a “next gen” game supposed to look like? Crysis?"
...yes - RationalAntaxia, on 10/11/2007, -17/+1http://www.duggmirror.com/xbox_360/Halo_3_Beta_A_Seriously_In_Depth_Review/
