- errictshunn, on 10/10/2007, -33/+105Man Sony is catching NO breaks. I think the 360 is just a better structured system than PS3. It seems Sony was just throwing technology in the PS3 (blu-ray, the Cell) And not really thinking about how the technologies would work together as far as gaming went. I am beginning to feel that Sony put out the PS3 to push Blu-ray to the market.
- Midir21, on 10/10/2007, -17/+65"360 version of Devil May Cry 4 has better visuals than PS3" I love the title spin... And no mention of what IGN said was the biggest difference which was the awkward control scheme for the 360.
Actual quote from IGN,
"The PS3 version looks marginally less refined to us, but anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here. Both games look amazing. It's the controls, however, where we felt the biggest difference."
Actually, after reading the article it seems overall they like the PS3 version more because of the controls. - Dreamscar, on 10/10/2007, -16/+59"Now that we've gotten to play a build of Devil May Cry 4 for Xbox 360, we can safely say that it's just as amazing-looking as the PS3 version, if not a hair more polished. It's still pretty much the same demo that we tried out a few months ago during a Capcom media event, so there weren't many surprises for us in regard to expectations."
if not a hair more polished, not really an outcry on the level of Madden 2008. Relax Microsoft fanboys/Sony haters, read the article first - tacroy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+40The real point of this story is that they are not happy with the 360's control feel. Not the graphics. I'm a 360 owner, but seriously guys... spin much?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30Title spin on Digg? I shan't believe this.
- jesushitler, on 10/10/2007, -21/+43a 3rd party game looks better on 360? GTFO! Seems to be a trend. Someone better unlock that mysterious "potential" buried deep inside teh cell soon before people start thinking the 360 can compete with the mighty PS3.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+24Wait, title spin by someone who seems to spend his life on Digg trashing PS3 and praising Xbox 360?
http://www.neaveru.com/digg/stats/cool8man/max_comments/100/days/90#c8491456 - andydumi, on 10/10/2007, -8/+28If you read the article carefully you will realize they were comparing a new build for MS and a months old build for PS3. ("same build we played back in April and previewed in early May".)
Also "anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here. Both games look amazing. It's the controls, however, where we felt the biggest difference."
So keep your stupid comments to yourself. - iRoy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20"...anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here."
Why the ***** are you starting an argument with dumb-ass title? - Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Even though it looks like pretty much nobody rated this comment at all, it's actually been dugg up 18 times and buried 18 times. Controversial!
- errictshunn, on 10/10/2007, -13/+29It's not so much the fact that it looks better, It that it look better on 360 even though the PS3 is it's original home of development.
- Hickeroar, on 10/10/2007, -12/+27Well, the PS3 is a helluva "computer" but unfortunately it's not especially suited for game programming. Its very good at some things, and gaming just isn't really its strongest point from a technical aspect.
The ps3 still stands as one of the cheapest Blu-Ray players out there and offers some other cool features for the price of just the player...but the 360 was designed for gaming from the ground up and is a better gaming machine....period.
All the launch title comparison shots and cross platform games have had screens posted showing the graphical superiority of the 360... it's slight, but it's there. - mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14"360 version has very marginal visual edge over PS3 version, but not enough to start a flame war."
lol. Woops. - Shane1983, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18They played both at Liepzig
"...and based on our fifteen minutes with each one (PS3 first to jog our memory, then 360 to see the difference), we think that the two versions are fairly similar visually. The PS3 version looks marginally less refined to us, but anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here. Both games look amazing." - scxzor, on 10/10/2007, -12/+25"As it stands now, we're not sure we could tolerate using the Right Bumper so excessively on the Xbox 360 controller instead of the triggers, which are much more comfortable."
- mercano, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14What makes you so sure that the PS4 will be Blu-Ray? Every Sony console so far has used a different media, all of which, save the CD in the PS1, was pretty much brand new at the time of release. The PS4 could wind up using holographic media or something.
- musters, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12In the end of the article it says they are graphically the same.
Buried because it is inaccurate, because a system cannot be generalized due to one or two game developers (cough EA Madden cough). - nublet, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13nice spin on the title submitter.
FTA:
"No matter what poison you pick, you'll probably end up happy, even if we have some small misgivings about the 360 controller's configuration."
"The PS3 version looks marginally less refined to us, but anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here. Both games look amazing. It's the controls, however, where we felt the biggest difference." - waynehoggett, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Buried as inaccurate, sorry it is...
- vajra918, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Whenever the console battle shows up, I tent to root for Microsoft... but I can't think of a way to get behind this title after reading the aticle.
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Yeah, the moment you use Madden as the reason why one console is better than the other, you lose.
We're talking Devil May Cry here, in a league FAR above Madden.
Even then, what someone above pointed out is that the PS3 version is older than the 360 version. I would be surprised if there were improvements. - Rovient, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I'd rather have worse graphics by a "hair" than have a difficult controller set-up. I bet the same people losing their load over this article are the same people who cry defence of the Wii's ***** graphical performance anyway!
- Authustian, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13"read the article carefully", see that's where you lost about 50% of digg, and 90% of xbox fan boys
- jacksons98, on 10/10/2007, -11/+20I'll take the PS3's better controls over marginally better graphics any day.
- ScottoGato, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Time to quit knocking each other's consoles. Is everyone being paid by these corporate entities to slam each other? It's Devil May Cry 4...the king of all button mashing. Give the console war a break until after they've been competing for about 3 years before you make judgments.
- wheezy360, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Who cares? Buy the one for the console you own and shut up
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12If the PS3 is the "cheapest" Blu-Ray player at $500, all that means is that Blu-Ray players are overpriced.
- andydumi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Even with all those losses they still manage to make a profit as a company as a whole. Just like MS they DO have the deep pockets.
And they will have another console in 5-6 years, what they mean by the 10 year plan is that they will support it and publish games, much like PS2 games and consoles are selling great even though the PS3 came out a year ago. Unlike Nintendo and MS, who dumped their old consoles and focus on the new one, Sony actually can and does support more than one at the same time. In a couple years PS2 will slowly die as the PS3 picks up, and then they can focus on the next console. A 10 year plan does not mean exclusively one console...and it sure beats MSes and Nintendos 3-5 year plan of support. - pixelate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"The PS3 version looks marginally less refined to us, but anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn't have much ammo here. Both games look amazing." -FTFA
- datdamonfoo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Is "aweful" halfway between awesome and awful?
- RunningboardV2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8What Gamespy REALLY STATES: "360 version has very marginal visual edge over PS3 version, but not enough to start a flame war."
What this poster states: "According to Gamespy the visual difference is only marginal, but noteworthy considering the game originally started development on the PS3 and used to be a PS3 exclusive."
Stfu fanboy. Innacurate'd. - eohano, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13Because it was programmed on the 360 then ported to the PS3...
- Lamtd, on 10/10/2007, -8/+14"360 was designed for gaming from the ground up and is a better gaming machine....period. "
I wouldn't bet on that. If you look at the difference between first-gen and last-gen PS2 games, there is a huge difference, much more than between first-gen and last-gen Xbox games; just because the two systems are starting with somewhat equal graphics doesn't mean that one or the other won't take off.
PS3 has much more potential to that regard -- even though I wouldn't bet either that it's going to be incredibly superior to the 360 in terms of graphics. Time will tell. - ahatter, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8you do remeber when the PS3 was suppose to launch right?
devs have had PS3 kits longer than people think. - Danjak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6lol... nice find.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9how did they "have more time"? please engage the thinking gear in your brain. it was a ps3 exclusive!
- CelineDionsMuff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6How do you keep living? It seems your lack of brain cells should have caused you to die by now.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -8/+13You honestly think Blu-ray is gonna actually win? Based on what? Sony doesn't have the best rep right now. Hasn't for a while now. The company I work for has dumped Sony as a hardware vendor due to crappy quality and horrible customer support. Blu-ray is Pretty much DRM's bitch. If people really care about limiting the abuse of DRM then Blu-ray should not win the format war.
- yournamehere, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7i didnt know they were out. they're out? where? i want to get them! oh wait, they aren't. if you want to go up and compare titles that are coming out then i think you already know the 360 has some serious ***** coming... and very soon.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8This seems to be the case for every cross-platform game.
The only one I can think of that has better graphics for the PS3 is Oblivion, because they were able to spend more time on it.. but they said they'll be releasing a patch for 360 to make them equal in quality. (has it been released yet?) - staticneuron, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10The PS3 was designed similar to the PS2's architecture but with more flexibility in mind. The thing about making a game is that there is more than one way to skin a cat. If you honestly talk to people deving for these consoles they will tell you that both systems have their advantages and disadvantages.
The PS3 not built for gaming is BS. People who have spoken out on the PS3 negatively obviously have a preference on how they make their games. The 360 actually sacrifices some Dev control to be easier while the PS3 is considered harder because it forces devs to be more aware and specific about what they want to do.
Also because DMC4 was announced for PS3 doesn't mean it was dev'ed for the system first. Capcom is using MT framework for the design of DMC4. Capcoms MT framework was built with the 360 and the PC in mind first and then later came the PS3. MT framework was being worked on after onimusha 3 and it has been used for dead rising and lost planet already. - FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6If you didn't think those things, you wouldn't own a PS3, because all it is is hype so far. "Buy our crummy console, put down lots of money... we promise we'll have good games!"
Enjoy watching Taladega Nights while you wait. :D - wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -11/+15Remap the default controls, problem solved. Virtually every game allows you to do this.
- jesushitler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I really hope you can customize the controls on the 360 version. Using the right bumper would suck. Hopefully Capcom hears the complaints and does something about it. I'm sure they will. They know most of the money for this game will come from the 360 version anyway.
- Zipp425, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why does it have to be solid state. To me it seems the future lies in the internet. You just buy games online from developers and play them on any console via your online account.
- FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5They aren't even of the same genre... you fail.
- tacojohn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I never liked XBox's controller for button mashing games.
The buttons stick out too far and don't allow you to slide your fingers easily between them... - trump48257, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5cool8man, do you happen to work for Redmond or just not have much of a life--because it's gotta be one or the other. No one would spend that much time praising MS and trashing Sony unless they were getting paid for doing it or had nothing better to do.
- gwolf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I never liked button mashing games.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Who cares. You're annoying, and you have an agenda.
