- osmow, on 10/15/2007, -1/+21These are just the "core" units that are sitting around in a warehouse somewhere and they need to get rid of them so they redesign the box and add in some arcade classics...
- RodTheCritic, on 10/15/2007, -2/+13Or $279.99 as predicted by the article.
- Desolite, on 10/15/2007, -0/+11the box makes me want to go outside, not sit inside & play video games.
- cmcguire, on 10/15/2007, -0/+10Premiums already do have HDMI out, I bought mine a few months ago and it does.
- BarryChuckle, on 10/15/2007, -2/+11Yeh, cos i'm really going to go out and buy a 360 to play Pac-Man and Uno...
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -0/+8It's their cheapest 360 sku. It also doesn't have an HDD, so it's stripped back to the basics to keep the price down.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -0/+8It's for casual players. If you want those, get the normal version you moron.
- noahhoward, on 10/15/2007, -0/+8Ding Ding!
- merdiesel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Did you really just say "not"?
I bet your still playing pogs too. - feshmania, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7because they can charge us for the component cables?
- merdiesel, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7If your going to make a cheaper version of your console, don't half-ass it...
MS really should have tried a little harder get the price down around $250. - Deano3041, on 10/15/2007, -1/+7"super-secret inside source" - I'm sure
- totorototoro, on 10/15/2007, -0/+5So...if it doesn't have a hard drive, is it backwards compatible with the original Xbox?
- falkonv7l, on 10/15/2007, -1/+5Your comment was too long to read
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -1/+5no!
- noahhoward, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4Damn it! How is Bil supposed to make money if you keep using your old hardware?
- lemurballs, on 10/15/2007, -1/+5i grabbed a 360 Premium off half.com for $300 last week. why would anyone settle for this pack?
- drshorty, on 10/15/2007, -1/+5HDMI units are out, in fact I think all units now have HDMI, and this one should as well. It just doesn't come with the cable(mine didn't and it has HDMI out as well, but I use VGA) Hell this one only has a composite out, not eve S-video. NO HDD either, lame.
- aywwts4, on 10/15/2007, -1/+4When I am an elderly old man ***** myself in an old folks home while the kids fly around on jetpacks I am bringing my pog collection, I saved them for a reason, I'm going to bring pogs back.
Who else still has their ultra-heavy metal slammer? - johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Doesn't look like it. It's basically the Core units sitting around that are being reboxed with some extras.
- turbopro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3is this the 65nm chipset? Cause honestly, that is the only thing that I am really holding out on.
- Ghiren, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3True, but it makes a much better entry-level system than the Core system for people who've never owned a 360 before. It would probably be worth it to buy this, then get a 20GB HDD cheaply, off of someone who upgraded to the 120GB drive.
- TheVigilante, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3That's what the system looks like without a hard drive.
- razor150, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3You have anger management issues.
- shartman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think that I just wet my pants. NOT!
Who cares. - DarkShroud, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2All 360's now have HDMI 1.2.
This is just a core unit with a cheaper cable, wireless controller, and a memory card. This is probably how the core should have been released. - inactive, on 10/15/2007, -1/+3No.
- theaceoffire, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2Because this is going to hurt Microsoft even more in the long run.
With even more consoles without hard drives, they can not rely on the consoles having one for development. - munkyxtc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Onto the memory card. Arcade games are usually about 30MB each.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2it also isnt a premium or elite so why would it?
- Jibberwalk, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2It's a means to rebuild chatter for a product that isn't popular (Core) by rebranding it in order to clear out remaning stock.
- Shawn4168, on 10/15/2007, -2/+4Sorry, I've never owned a 360, so I'm not totally sure about how XBLA works, but don't you need a hard drive to store those games on? Or are those going on the included memory card?
- jimvwmoss, on 10/15/2007, -2/+4Wireless controller as standard?
- razor150, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2I've never been a big fan of the Core but people really have to understand that the Core is a good deal for quite a few people out there. My father wants to play Halo 3 and maybe a couple of others games down the road. This new Arcade bundle is perfect for him. He doesn't play online or even connect his console online and he doesn't have an HDTV. Why pay extra money for stuff he doesn't need or even want?
- DarkShroud, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2Probably not. This seem more like them trying to get rid of core units.
- dscomeau, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2a digg to both comments above...it's standard product marketing procedure.
- postalblowfish7, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2moms still want wii sports
- NessTheHero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why do you still have to pay more if you reached parity?
- Chrysophrase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sure, you can hook up a USB HDD to it, but it will be read only, you'll be able to play movies, music and show pictures from it.
In order for the system to save stuff to the HDD you have to get the official one. - SpaceNinjaDino, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1The only good reason to get these is for 2nd-4th extra consoles for system link play. Consumers should get a Premium or Elite for their main 360 console.
- DarkShroud, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1All new 360's now have HDMI. Just make sure Zyphr is in the serial #.
- xXGeechXx, on 10/13/2007, -2/+3I might be the only one who likes how microsofts marketing strategy turned out... They started with the Core and the Premium and the Core was stupid, generally a waste of money and anyone with half a brain bought the Premium.
They introduced the Elite which is exactly that its for people who are Gamers with a awesome Home theatre and people who plan on not only playing games but downloading HD Movies and TV shows...
They continued with the Premium which is for your average gamer, someone who may or may not have an HDTV but is most likely to get one and they are just there to play xbox maybe a little of xbox live
Now they introduced the Arcade Pack to replace the Core, this is for your basic player not planning on playing on live, maybe diving into the xbox world for the first time. Its a perfect option because it gives you everything you need to play (Wireless controllers, Memory Card) but everything can soon be upgraded if you really decide your down with the xbox.
Me Personally? Im own a premium (from launch) but if offered the choice between the elite, Premium, or Arcade... I'd pick the Elite. - jdhammer, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1Isn't this the exact same thing we saw posted about a month or so ago, except the "ARCADE" part isn't so obviously faked this time. That one was confirmed fake, so if everything looks exactly the same besides the word "arcade", this one is obviously fake as well.
- razor150, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've read elsewhere they are coming on a disc, not on the memory card.
- UberC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I already have a pro but I might get this because my current console sounds like a helicopter
- Redchannel, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1The box is pretty cool though...
- dvdipodbiz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1 To rip DVD movies to Xbox 360, and convert video files to Xbox 360
Try this software
http://www.soft29.com/xbox360/dvd_to_xbox360_arcad ... - Nafla, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1You sir, are an idiot. The first leakage of it wasn't faked at all, just presented horribly and I can't wait to see you eat delicious crow.
- eddie72, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2This article isn't about Sony's console,money pit the PS3, but the new cheap version of the 360.
- DarkShroud, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1All new 360's have HDMI 1.2 standard.
