/Wayne Campbell ftw - LMControl, on 08/03/2008, -2/+16Well, hell.... when you're only shipping them 20 a week, there's bound to be a shortage sooner or later.
- Darkangel754, on 08/03/2008, -0/+14FFXIII on 360 is only for English speaking countries.
- M724, on 08/02/2008, -2/+14What we enjoy on the 360: Halo, Gears of War, etc... doesn't sell in Japan. Final Fantasy XIII and Tales of Vesperia will be what encourages Japanese gamers to invest in a 360.
- Jhiaxuz, on 08/03/2008, -5/+16They sold four units and are now out of stock.
- JazzFlight, on 08/03/2008, -0/+11I heard "Exqueeze Me" in Wayne's voice (as in Wayne's World).
As long as you're referencing that movie/skit and not Jar Jar, I think it's okay. - inactive, on 08/01/2008, -14/+25The little engine that could deserves to do better over here in Japan.
- loganhid, on 08/01/2008, -7/+17to be honest, their not stocking high quantity 360's in Japan.
- Arkz, on 08/03/2008, -0/+9Only north america? that's odd cause i live in europe and il be getting it on 360
- sdubois92, on 08/03/2008, -0/+9baking powder?
- staticneuron, on 08/03/2008, -0/+9because the 360's there are mainly owned by foreigners. Stationed troops, students, teachers, journalists and more.
- DlGG, on 08/03/2008, -2/+11Insert "Japan has sold their [some low number] 360s and now there's no more left," joke.
- riyehn, on 08/03/2008, -3/+11Agreed; buried.
- GamaFu, on 08/03/2008, -0/+7FF XIII is coming everywhere but Japan.
- Klisk, on 08/03/2008, -0/+7Gears of War actually sold well in Japan, surprisingly, even though they usually hate shooter games over there.
- Klisk, on 08/03/2008, -6/+13@mywhitenoise.
Uncharted and Warhawk aren't very good games. Ratchet is old and grey at this point. Long in the tooth so to speak. Rock Band, GTAIV, and COD4 are all also on the Xbox360 and feature multiplayer that is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the PS3's version.
What's on the 360 that's not on the PS3? Jeez... Gears of War, Blue Dragon, (I won't mention Halo since true FPSers don't do well in Japan anyways..) Super Street Fighter 2 HD REMIX, Ninja Gaiden II, TOO HUMAN, Fable 2, Banjo-Kazooie 3, Left 4 Dead, and Alan Wake.
The PS3 has.... LittleBigPlanet. That's it.
Furthermore, the PC doesn't even count in this argument since 1) PC gaming and console is a different niche, even amongst the people who do both... And 2) PC gaming isn't very popular at all in Japan, considering the thread here. Most internet usage in Japan is not done over a traditional PC as we know it. - KrazyKoala, on 08/03/2008, -3/+9Do your research, we aren't talking about the original Xbox.
- pjkli, on 08/03/2008, -3/+9It "deserves" to give strong competition against the ps3 so that no matter what console you want, you get a good solid product. The one thing I don't like about the 360 is the lifespan. (Sony says 10 years on ps3 I think that the 360 will be like 5?)
Other than that, go with your gut. Love your choice. And GAME ON. - Klisk, on 08/03/2008, -0/+6I could believe that, honestly.
- Bigcolby, on 08/03/2008, -0/+6Screw you guys...exqueeze me has never wronged me and I stand in it's place. Take me, not it.

- dhVyse, on 08/03/2008, -1/+6My thoughts exactly, awful submission.
- TonyTheTerrible, on 08/03/2008, -1/+6Too bold of a move to be on purpose to promote sales. You gotta realize some stores only carry them as an obligation.

- volacide, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Congratulations. That sounds like an absolute waste of money. Not sure why you're boasting.
- DesdinovaEL, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4there, they're, their.... whatever
- coffeeserpent, on 08/03/2008, -2/+61. there are alot of japanese that play FPS, i honestly get my butt kicked on the 360 alot, especially since they get on xbox live and actually COMMUNICATE. in a game like bad company where teams actually can mean something the japs clean up because of it.
so you cant say they dont like FPS, its growing here quickly.
now why does anyone still care about fighting over the systems? xbox is going to get certain kinds of games because of its large demographic that likes shooters and the ps3 is going to get the rpgers and simulators because its made in japan.
i swear this fight is only between redneck ***** and japanophiles who love boring ass jrpgs. buy the system you like and shut up. - artofwot, on 08/02/2008, -2/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZoRfgLO6cc
- mywhitenoise, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4I was thinking Wayne's World up until everyone mentioned Jar Jar.
- GamaFu, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Infinite Undiscovery, too. AFAIK, it's a xbox exclusive, and it will release just few days after Tales of Vesperia.
- EtherGnat, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4@staticneuron
If that were true I would expect the sales chart to look similar for both regions, but in fact they're totally different. As an example Blue Dragon outsold Gears of War by nearly 3-to-1 in Japan, but the latter outsold the former by over 15-to-1 in the US.
Bestsellers in Japan: http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=&console= ... - HRF1, on 08/03/2008, -1/+5Or shops don't want to lose money by stocking up their inventory with products that are bound to collect dust in Japan? And please, 2ch is probably the one place you don't want to be quoting, especially for an author of a gaming blog site. People say inaccurate and crazy ***** when you can post online anonymously.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -4/+8@pjkli: Yeah exactly, someone needs to stand up against this Sony bully and make a truly next-gen architecture console with high storage capacity, high quality, a long lifespan...oh wait. Microsoft's beast has none of these qualities. Nevermind.
/flame on - arcticblue, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4My wife is Japanese and she calls herself and other Japanese people "japs". At least where I am in Japan, they don't really take offense to it. When I told her many American's will act funny if she says "jap", she didn't understand why. She had no idea it can be considered a racist term.
- Vanor, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4Any given Tales of.... > FF13. Square really needs to just let FF take a hiatus, and focus on say, I don't know, any number of their other games that they've ***** neglected over the years. Ya know, Vagrant Story, Tobal (maybe like you all could release the first two over here on the PSP or DS or something), Einhander, PARASITE EVE GOD DAMMIT and bringing Front Mission 5 over here would be nice too.
FF 8, 10, and 12 have all just sucked in one way or another. 8 was just bad, period; bad dialogue, bad characters, schitzoid plot, and the battle system was too annoying for it's own good and unskippable 2 minute long summons. 10 had a very annoying main character, though the rest of the game was all right, especially compared to 8. 12...All I can say is they should've just made Vagrant Story 2 instead, what a ***** waste of a talented developers.
13, I don't care how pretty it looks, it just looks like more of the same, just prettier. That's all Square can do now is "pretty" they can't engage us with an actual plot or *gasp* likeable, sympathetic, well-written characters. All they do is rehash the same thing, over, and over, and over, and over. Save the world the world from some evil force, blah blah blah. The Tales of games might have cliched plots but at least the characters are so likeable and endearing that it actually makes you forget you're playing a game at times. Like Tales of Legendia, where two deputies randomly show up dressed like a cowboy and cowgirl and start singing about the fact they're gonna kick your ass....before you kick their ass.
I'm sure I'll get dugg down for having an opinion, but whatever, just wish I could play a game that helped me remember some ***** from biology class (Parasite Eve). - volacide, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4To a certain extent I agree wholeheartedly. I know I'm going to come off sounding like a complete fanboy but hear me out. I used to own a 360, the reason I sold it was simply because it didn't get nearly as much playtime as my PC or PS3 and the inevitable hardware failure. It just didn't seem worthwhile to hold onto it any longer and I had an opportunity to sell it and make most of what I had spent back.
Yes, there is quite a variety of games available on the 360, and good ones at that, the problem is, most of their best ones are multiplatform on the PC. There are also some pretty cool Arcade titles and XBL is a great service for the price. Let's face it though, the diversity of the games on the PS3, even now which has so many less titles, is so much greater than the diversity of the games on the 360 and that's a huge selling point to me and I'm certain, to others. If you like anything to do with shooting then you're more than sitting pretty on the 360, which is without a doubt that consoles focus, and that's not a bad thing, I love shooters, I own more shooters than any other game type, but that's also why I have a PC.
On the PS3 however you're going to get such a great variety of different games though. You have some very cool shooters if you like, the acclaimed COD4 for instance and let's be honest, Killzone 2 looks ***** badass through and through. But then you've also got a great action adventure platformer in the form of Uncharted, something the 360 really doesn't have at all. If you're looking for something more lighthearted but just as highly polished you can enjoy Ratchet and Clank. If you're looking for a truly unique racing experience MotorStorm is what you go to, and Pacific Rift looks like an improvement upon the original in every facet. A game that was truly awesome but missing the most important modes in a racing game, split-screen versus. Then you have a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 which is just a true gem and GTA4 the other massive hit also available.
But here's where it really gets different, the PlayStation Store Arcade games versus the 360 games are just completely different. Super Stardust and Geometry Wars can be compared and they're both pretty awesome but that's where the similarities in the games end. 360 arcade is full of old ports of awesome games, and while that's cool, what's so much cooler are the original arcade games. Built from the ground up for the casual style of play that we all love, just not as much as our hardcore style of play. On the PS3 you have some great games like Flow, Flower (unreleased), Echochrome, and the recently released Pixel Junk Eden. I wasn't too interested in Pixel Junk Mosnters, strategy games aren't my thing so I won't make any comment on that, but boy is Pixel Junk Eden freaking awesome and it completely took me by surprise.
Not to mention I'm confident Little Big Planet is about to unleash a gaming phenomenon on us all that we've never even dreamed of before.
The 360 is by no means a bad console, but when it comes to target markets, it's got a much smaller one in comparison to the PS3 and it's to be expected that it won't sell as well in certain regions as seen here. The 360 is an excellent buy if you love those types of games. Undoubtedly. It's just that, if you're fine with waiting for Gears of War and Mass Effect on the PC a couple months after debut and want more variety from your gaming console, the PS3 is a no-brainer. - staticneuron, on 08/03/2008, -1/+4Vesperia is horrible so It be strange if it were a breakout title. Infinite undiscovery seems more fit to be the block builder.
