- TruEKuma, on 06/01/2009, -4/+46Need to see some gameplay but I am really excited about this game.
The teaser sounded and looked interesting, it did its job of whetting my appetite.
Gotta love bungie - Cawzality, on 06/02/2009, -1/+41Wow if it takes place on reach that means we'll have a ***** of Spartans on our team in the campaign!
Hope its a FPS... - BedPost, on 06/02/2009, -4/+28Anyone who's read the book (Halo: The Fall of Reach) knows this has just gotta be a squad-based shooter. There's no way it's not, I just can't envision it any other way.
- TriggerHappyGTR, on 06/02/2009, -1/+19This should be good, people that have read 'Halo: Fall of Reach' know why.
- handheldchimp, on 06/02/2009, -3/+21Anyone else catch this?
If you haven't seen the legendary ending to Halo 3, check it out on youtube. Master Chief is seen floating in the back half of the frigate towards a planet. The planet is mostly blacked out, then a blue line(the atmosphere) and sun appear in the distance and you see a very faint bit of the planet glowing (cities). In the Halo: Reach trailer, Reach eventually blacks out, and we get the same blue line and sun effect.
My theory is that at the end of Halo 3, Master Chief is floating towards a covenant occupied Reach. Halo: Reach will simply be there to explain to everyone what happened there and that it is covenant occupied (alternatively, read the books), this way, once Halo 4 comes out and Chief plunges back onto Reach, we won't be confused about what is going on. - username9000, on 06/02/2009, -5/+23ODST is not even out and you are bitching about Halo Reach? They showed OSDT gameplay. Reach is a ***** huge announcement. Bungie making another Halo game? who thought that was gonna happen? where better to announce it than E3? get a grip.
- ricemonster, on 06/02/2009, -4/+21Make sure you read the book.
- mntnbkr7, on 06/02/2009, -2/+18Reach happens before Halo CE
- username9000, on 06/02/2009, -2/+17I thought another development studio would take it over rather than Bungie making another one. Couldn't be in better hands.
- handheldchimp, on 06/02/2009, -0/+13That's what Teaser Trailers do, they "tease" you and don't reveal very much at all...
- badenglishihave, on 06/02/2009, -2/+15They're really reaching with this one.
- Krekko, on 06/02/2009, -0/+12Let me tell you, Halo has NEVER failed to impress me with either their games, or their trailers.
This is going to keep me clawing at their feet for the next several months.
Simple but extremely sweet trailer, cant wait for more info! - christianw, on 06/02/2009, -0/+11i had as much fun reading "the fall of reach" as i did reading "without remorse" by tom clancy
seriously, its worth the 9 bucks or so for the paperback. great book - gametavern, on 06/02/2009, -0/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j5sA7n1-u0&hd= ...
SPARTAN-259, is a member of the SPARTAN Project, and one of the characters of Halo: Reach. He is refered to as Nova One, although this may refer to his team. It is speculated he is a SPARTAN-II Class Two, as his tag is 259, which is over the 150 limit of the Class One SPARTAN-II's. - Red989, on 06/02/2009, -1/+12He said Bungie is making Reach to explain why it's Covenant occupied when Master Chief gets there
- adml_shake, on 06/02/2009, -1/+11So if we get OSDT then we get a beta invite to Reach? Sold.
- odseraphim, on 06/02/2009, -3/+13Sorry, you'll have to buy Crackdown 2 to get into the beta ;-)
- papashawn, on 06/02/2009, -0/+10if i go to gamespot i wonder if they'll have Reach around?
- ShadowMarth, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9No, we'll see most of the spartans KICKING ASS, then get killed in a really ***** way.
- kinseyincanada, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Halo Wars was made by Ensamble.
- jadedsunrise, on 06/02/2009, -1/+10I didn't know reading a 300 page book makes you elitist.
- mr138, on 06/02/2009, -2/+11So I'm confused, do we only bitch about old IP's if it's Nintendo's, or can I complain about MS not making new IP's too?
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8I believe that was explained in some of the other fiction, might have been one of the graphic novels.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9Actually I read the books after getting them for my son and I thought Fall of Reach wasn't bad for a book based on a video game.
- Diggnabbit, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8I would like to see a new non-Halo project, too.
But not a re-make of Marathon, which is basically what Halo is already. - Carrot1991, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9I like the idea of this being a sequal it but I honestly don't see the possibility of Reach being occupied. Unless Covenant were stationed on Reach to recover 'stolen' forerunner artefacts (Which is unlikely as I don't think the covenant would have made this step as they would have needed their forces on Earth) I think it's safe to say this will be a prequel.
Is this bad, NO! Be excited people, if we get to fight through the fall of Reach ( Which is Earths 'War Planet' in the Halo universe) this means we will fight with ***** load of Spartans in ***** loads of vehicles kicking ***** loads of arse!
Awesome =D
(Also, ODST looked Wakkapwn, I <3 Bungie) - strictnein, on 06/02/2009, -1/+8Get the stick out of your ass. It wasn't meant to compete with Moby Dick as a work of fiction. It's meant to be entertaining, which it was.
- XxModestMousexX, on 06/02/2009, -2/+9They sure are milking the ***** out of the Halo franchise, am I the only one who wants to see them come up with a new project unrelated to Halo, maybe even a remake of Marathon?
- handheldchimp, on 06/02/2009, -0/+7Halo 3: ODST is a standalone expansion to Halo 3, not a whole new game...
- Velvolver, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7Maybe they'll actually have a section that explains what happens between the two games instead of magically crashing in the jungle for part 3, which couldn't possibly fit in with the time line from halo 2.
- Nebarik, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7what about it? this is like a whole new game. unlike ODST's short campagin and being a expansion pack
- govsucks, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6Man, I have been giving these people my money since Marathon, here we go again.
Unlike SOOOOO many others around here, Bungie actually gives me the what I pay for. They have an exciting, immersive FPS game. Now if they could just add destructible environments like Bad Company it would be freakin sweet! - NYC10004, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7For anybody who has read the books, I assure you, that announcing a Halo game based on planet Reach is no small thing.
For many people Halo Reach will be their first experience with the expanded Halo universe. And for those already familiar with it, you'll get to play through the campaign and see characters you've only read about. - NYC10004, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7Damn. . . that actually sounds feasible.
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -1/+7this could either be a sequel or a prequel to the first three halo games. if this is a prequel, we'll see most of the spartans die :(
- Snooper1989, on 06/02/2009, -1/+6Have you even watched the game play footage, it plays entirely different to halo - you're no longer an ass kicking spartan who can take down a couple of brutes with no problem... The game will play a lot different than the halo games where you control 117.
- ehaugan, on 06/02/2009, -4/+9Nope, I'm proud to say I havent read any books based on video games :P
- christianw, on 06/02/2009, -1/+6as i stated above. the fall of reach is a really good book. anyone who doesnt read it, is missing out.
that said, theres another possibility based on the book. it could be all about ship and fleet combat. which would kick ass. the capital ship battles in that book were fantastic. - dsmatrix, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5Thats exactly what happens...read the book.
- Velvolver, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4Eat *****, halo 2's campaign was epic.
- Lammin, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5But everything that is happening is because there is a Halo.
- Nebarik, on 06/02/2009, -1/+6i like your thinking. it does sound very plausible as a setup.
- ASSASSYN360, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4I would have read the halo novels but the words get all squishy.
- Snooper1989, on 06/02/2009, -0/+4However if you watch the trailer at the end a spartan reports "You have spartans on the ground". So... If that wasn't a massive hint...
- JJaX, on 06/02/2009, -2/+6Ummmm No.
The covenant are pretty much wiped out and have no leadership anymore. The planet Reach no longer plays as significant role in the war.
Master Chief and Cortana are lightyears away from any known human regions of space. That's why she said it could take years before anyone notices their distress beacon.
"Halo:Reach" will be a kick ass prequel with some spartan co-op. - sea206town, on 06/02/2009, -2/+6Ok I got it! You guys read the book and i should as well so i can fully appreciate this game like you do, congrats your an elite group.
- jgtg32a, on 06/02/2009, -1/+4Actually I found the books to be much better than the games they explain the "universe" much better
- nobelief, on 06/02/2009, -0/+3as oppose to other nerds?
- ChrisOrr, on 06/02/2009, -4/+7you're retarded if you thought there would be no more halo games lol
- dead56k, on 06/02/2009, -4/+7wow that preview really told me a lot about the game!
