- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -2/+61Finally! Porn, on the big screen.
- DFENS, on 11/14/2007, -11/+65So nobody has to click through:
we’re in discussions with Microsoft on that at this point in time, so I can’t go into any great detail on that. that is not a certified or licensed product at this time
That line means NOTHING. Dugg down as inaccurate. - totorototoro, on 11/11/2007, -0/+27That would be great-DivX, Xvid, Matroska, hand them all over! :D
- NeilM, on 11/11/2007, -1/+25Matroska is just a container. It is popular to encode an x264 video while using the Matroska container. x264 is probably what you mean.
- smiley2billion, on 11/12/2007, -2/+23It would be easier for people to stream video and less likely to buy from the marketplace.

- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -1/+11The 360 already supports WMV...
- DFENS, on 11/13/2007, -2/+12Nope. The article says that: "we’re in discussions with Microsoft on that at this point in time, so I can’t go into any great detail on that." HOW you get any confirmation that DIvx is coming to the 360 is incredible wishing, nothing more.
- Microdot, on 11/14/2007, -2/+10ok... i bit and read the article. where in the hell does it say anything remotely close to "divx support coming to xbox 360"? it says they are talking. that translates into: no comment. which means absolutely dick.
- DarkDx, on 11/13/2007, -1/+8That would be very cool (take notes sony), and I also want DirecTV support, they talked about that and PUFF now it's gone, it was very important to me because there's no digital tv here so DTV was the only way to get all the programming, etc in media center (vista and 360).
- bigbadgoat, on 11/14/2007, -3/+10take notes? DVR attachment for Europe and Japan (since North America does not yet have a compatible infracstructure), recognition of divx and xvid files in the 2.00 update, Sony might have this out before MS does.
- Liquids, on 11/10/2007, -1/+8you use it
- sgr215, on 11/10/2007, -0/+6I would be happier to see it support x264 with a MKV container. TVersity can convert DivX to WMV while I watch it but converting x264 to WMV is a major pain and simply not worth it.
- clockb0x, on 11/13/2007, -0/+6I agree that most people probably don't use Divx, but it doesn't really matter since Divx and Xvid are the same thing: MPEG4. Either one can play back the other, so as long as it can play divx, your xvid videos should work as well.
- Lososaurus, on 11/14/2007, -1/+7WHy not do the right thing and give us the ability to load in codec packs?
- LifeIsARhythm, on 11/11/2007, -0/+6I'm sick of converting my files, so i hope this is true.
- martinjones, on 11/12/2007, -0/+6Imagine working there. "Can I get a pay rise?"... "Go to Hell.."
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -4/+9I dug you down for making sense! this is digg damit!!! Microsoft is a company, that makes them EVIiiillllll! Apple and nintendo are also companies, that makes them not evil. Get it?
- Nobi-Wan, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5Why, so you can double post on your 360, too?
- drizzlelicious, on 11/14/2007, -1/+5I can't believe pro-Microsoft sentiment is cool now.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4Native support of DivX/Xvid - not transcoded.
- Compserd, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4Wow, its about time the 360 got DivX support.
- schoate09, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4.mov, I just cried.
- SPARTACVS, on 11/10/2007, -1/+4Yeah I want to be able to use the 25gb of x264 Lost Season 3 that I downloaded over the last year on my 360, and not have to spend $500 on a bluray player or ps3 and $100 for Season 3 on bluray just to get it to my living room on my HDTV. Damn ABC/Disney and their horse-backing. : (
- MalDON, on 11/10/2007, -1/+4How about just mouse support. Keyboards already work.
- assassinmaids, on 11/10/2007, -2/+5It's a fanboy's response to the RUMOR that the Ps3 was getting codec support because avi and divx files were showing up as thumbnails. I believe this was the article: http://kotaku.com/gaming/playstation-3/ps3-moving- ... I really hate this type of tit-for-tat submissions especially in non-substance article such as the one here.
- fLUx1337, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4Oh really? DivX FTW then - I just thought DivX was a totally different non-open codec...
This is good news then - well, not for me, my 360 is hooked upto the same screen as my PC, the one I'm using now! xD - triplehelix, on 11/12/2007, -9/+12because microsoft pushes the hell out of every proprietary item they can.
- m00nstone, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Um... you still don't get it.
- Iwantawii, on 11/12/2007, -0/+3There's hardly anything good in the marketplace anyways.
- graemee, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3"the ***** setup" - SO if you have native support, wouldn't it be like be BETTER.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Um because the XBOX 360 and the XBOX are 2 completely different systems? You don't have "XBMC for that" when it comes to the 360.
- Radovan, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3What kind of name is 'Kevin Hell'?
- staticneuron, on 11/14/2007, -5/+8Really? You do realize that the hardware and media associated with the 360 is proprietary right?
Yes, the 360 uses a standard hard drive but the additional enclosed interface forces you to buy the MS owned HD wich is alot more expensive than other hard drives of comparable size. The added DRM on the 360 DVD's and the content licensing is a form of control which also makes the media proprietary.
How is MS absolved of this yet people complain about Sony's UMD's and magicgates and other sony proprietary media? The common complaint is format shoved down throats but considering most of their formats are made for sony products only there is no "forcing" It either you want a sony related product or not. Thats like complaining that you can't find an alternate lamp for your HDTV or the drum on your laser printer cannot be transfered over to a competitors brand.
Oh wow I cant transfer my old mitsubishi engine to my new toyota?!?! Damn mitsubishi and their different shaped cars, and snubby large engine blocks. Proprietary stuff sucks!! :( - HappyScrappy, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2DirectTV just shipped the first beta of video (DivX! and WMV) streaming to Direct TV + HD DVRs. It's not working right yet, but I expect it'll ship within 3 months.
It is a DLNA/UPnP streaming device, you can stream to it from WMP 11 or whatever. It already works with photos and music, the video streaming is in process.
So looks like you can get DirecTV and video streaming in one box, just not in an Xbox 360. - DarkDx, on 11/10/2007, -0/+22.00+divx? I didn't know that, thanks for the heads up. Still no DTV
- cheeze69, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3The comment about USB keyboard is what really made this questionable for me.
- benroy, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Every game console should be porn-ready. The PS3 will eventually play DiVX video but anything genital-related will be pixelated for your viewing pleasure.
- DrewBlood, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Transcoding is a pain in the ass though, and ties up clock cycles on my PC that should be going toward other things. Until the 360 takes over processing duties I'm going to continue using my old Xbox for movies.
- staticneuron, on 11/10/2007, -2/+4http://kotaku.com/gaming/playstation-3/ps3-moving- ...
- DrewBlood, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2I'd be thrilled to be able to get rid of my old black brick though, if my 360 could do the same thing. It's amazing that after all this time no one has come out with something that can out XBMC an XBMC.
- graemee, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Both Media Extender and TVersity or Transcode are not the same as native support. I like to use my PC when the wife & kids watch shows off my PC.
- crackah, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2win win
- zwaldowski, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2I understand that. Why is everybody bowing down to MS that they're adding this in, though?
- staticneuron, on 11/14/2007, -3/+5Dammit! I actually dugg you up before doing research. That fall list is a rumor as well. What is with the 360 fans and spreading rumors as truth?
- dasdef, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1you beat me to it
- DrewBlood, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1If you have XBox Media Center installed
- DrewBlood, on 11/11/2007, -1/+2What's hard to get? We don't have Sandisk music players hooked up to our tvs, we have 360s and would like to use them to watch our divx/xvid movies without having to jump through transcoding hoops.
- DarkDx, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1But Can I get the full progamming list and ALSO be able to change channels via the media control center? Can I record the shows?
