- DavidGX, on 07/23/2008, -2/+84Good show, Capcom. RE4 was freakin awesome, I can't wait for RE5.
- richmcl, on 07/23/2008, -8/+55as it should
- DamageInc, on 07/23/2008, -4/+36"In other news, Nintendo announces that Resident Evil 5 will not be available on the Wii."
Seriously though, RE4 Wii Edition was great and hopefully they only improve upon it with 5. - JamieSI, on 07/23/2008, -2/+29From what we saw at E3, Resident Evil 5 is looking like it'll play very much the same as RE4, which isn't a bad thing. So hopefully more gore elements will be added :p
- Thekirby45, on 07/24/2008, -2/+27man is it going to feel weird without a wii mote playing it. I was so use to the controls in re 4 wii ill manage I guess
- Kanten, on 07/24/2008, -2/+25In America it's only racist if it's against blacks.
- cdhill, on 07/24/2008, -2/+22I wish it was for the Wii. RE4 was awesome with the gun, and I'd played it twice before. But the gore is part of the charm, albeit pants-***** charm. Why change what made it so popular? It sells so many copies already, why worry about drawing in tweens into a zombie slaughtering game? The older market IS the target, and the game should reflect that.
- CoolGoose, on 07/23/2008, -11/+28Yea Resident Evil 5 will be so much cuter with pink fluffy bunnies and candy poring from the zombies head.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 07/24/2008, -0/+17"Nor should they."
Fixed. - GregIsLegend, on 07/24/2008, -0/+16Kudos Capcom.
Take note Hollywood. - exomni, on 07/24/2008, -1/+17This was ever a question?
- CollapseControl, on 07/23/2008, -15/+30No *****, why would Capcom try and tone it down? It isn't going to the Wii next year. It's going on the 2 consoles left that still make games for adults.
Anyway, RE5 will be the 1st great title of 2009! I can't wait to get more info on the Co-op. - u8muhrice, on 07/24/2008, -0/+14good to hear, I am glad Capcom is not catering to those who criticize the game for
a) Racism
b) Too much gore - sisko2k5, on 07/24/2008, -1/+14More Gore...Horror...I think we can handle it as responsible adults
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+14how the ***** can anyone call RE racist after the first 4 games were white/hispanic zombies
- AzureRise, on 07/24/2008, -0/+10Wrong. They altered the game because of the racism remarks. More white zombies and the sidekick is now black (I want Jill back!).
- Vostok, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9Sticking to their guns, I like it.
- heysuburbia, on 07/24/2008, -3/+12That comment doesn't even makes sense, the Wii has plenty of adult games:
Resident Evil 4
Man Hunt 2
Scarface
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
The Godfather
No More Heroes
Dead Rising
MadWorld
etc...
Also, if it wasn't available for the Wii, it was on PC:
CoD 4
Devil May Cry 4
Gears of War
Bio Shock
The only game that I would want to play not available for my PC/Wii would be GTA 5 and Reggie, president of Nintendo of America, has been talking to Rockstar about a Wii GTA - harajukukei, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9the game is definitely racist against zombies..
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8We don't care if you're an atheist. This is an article about video games.
- Blandyman, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7Before anyone calls me an idiot, I know you're being sarcastic.
But for something to lower the gore level doesn't mean to add candy and replace explosions with visual representations of happiness. What it means, is that dismemberment won't happen, blood won't land on the camera, or blood won't shoot out at all, or heads won't explode how they do right now (really nice, if i may add.)
It has nothing to do with making the game *****, it would just take out some flair. No, don't take it out, I like my bloody Resident Evil. But if, say, Call of Duty doesn't have blood, no one would really care, because it's a realistic shooter, blood isn't entirely necessary. - Jhiaxuz, on 07/24/2008, -3/+9In defense of the general issue and not as a fan boy as I own no consoles and I do not advocate that violent games = violent kids.
The misconception is is that blood = adult themed game when it's really the action which produces the blood which should be under more scrutiny. You shoot something regardless and it's the affects of whether blood is present or not.
In Soul Caliber or Tekken, you would hit someone and a spark would be produced. Rated T. In Mortal Kombat, you hit someone and blood would be released. Rated M. Yet they both have the same fundamental principles in that you have to hit your target.
Call of Duty 1-3 you shoot endless waves of Nazis but is rated T. Call of Duty 4 you shoot endless waves of Muslims and Russians and it is Rated M. The difference? More blood. Yeah, there is swearing as well but based on the ESRB it is labeled with intense violence as opposed to minimal violence.
So really, if all the difference is is bloodletting but you still perform the same actions it makes it a rather moot point to say it's not adult-themed. If I hit someone with an orange in a sock without leaving a mark, is it no less explicit than if I used my fist and left bruises and blood?
The only exception would be decapitation.
/rant - septicmadman, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7You either need to apply a bit more common sense or fall off a tall building. He is obviously talking about RE4. Does it make you penis seem bigger if you're mean to people?
- dragon76, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6My ONLY complaint with RE4 was that they removed the puzzle element from the game just to add more action. I'm glad Konami still makes Silent Hill games is all I'm sayin'.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6There are a surprising amount of white zombies in Africa in recent clips.
I hope racists like N'Gai Croal are happy :)
Seriously though this will be all shades of awesome. - Kanten, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5"“We’re never going to create a gore-free Resident Evil title to try and get a lower rating as it’s a game about the horror experience and gore is part of that,”"
LIARS. What was Umbrella Chronicles? Also, the randomly missing Hunter decapitations in REmake and Zero? - IADTatami, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Greetings, Bord. I am IADTatami of Earth 1.
...at least, I assume it's the first. - nebbo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5That would be a cool unlock, like the confetti grunts in halo 3.
- Blandyman, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4March 2009. Friday the 13th.
- laguano, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Yes, he is definitely talking about RE4. And Failchan, when he said Japanese Wii, I'm pretty sure he meant the Japanese version of RE4 Region locked to a Japanese Wii. Why do you have to be so demeaning? Pathetic.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 07/24/2008, -2/+6I'm a Christian but: thank SCIENCE!
- o0joshua0o, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Stop bringing in all these silly facts to mess up his unsupported assertion.
- aftern9ne, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Mark my words, it'll just end up rated M like all the others.
- Andrwmorph, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Wouldn't it be lifeist?
- AzureRise, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3So gore, they won't censor, but some racist ***** accuses them of being racist and they add white zombies in Africa and replace Jill with a black girl to show they're not racist?
- broodking, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3watering down in general = less in enjoyment
so go capcom - FireLark, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3if they would just combine the two games, i could die happy. i want to run around the open world of gta, where the streets are infested with zombies attacking nonzombies. then throw in multiplayer for good measure.. that's the plot right there, no need for any more of a story line than kill zombies.
- heysuburbia, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3No, they just took out decapitations
- Justice101, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Quick, shoot that zombie in the crotch again!
- jo21, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3no, i prefer they waste a big budget to make the game that another shovel ware for the wii
- denizen42, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Indeed, it's nice to see niche gaming win over of the pressures of mass market crap.
- blahtastic, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Didn't Sony or Microsoft previously say they wouldn't release anything above M?
I thought it was Sony and Nintendo had the same position on Manhunt 2, hence the filtering of the gory goodness to bring it back to M.
That said, since when did gratuitous zombie gore inflicted with conventional weapons run any risk of going above M? Boobs on the other hand, or a sexual act or situation (one necessary to the survival of our species i might add), that would just be damn awful. Can't have that in an M rated game. - Zornography, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2God Bless Capcom!
- h4mx0r, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2There is blood in Call of Duty. Observe the splash as one gets shot. However there are no blood stains or splatters I think.
- mrhedges, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Uh... Are you trying to say that the only whites and Asians that live in Africa are tourists and peacekeepers? Ever heard of apartheid?
- Managua8Green, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2yeah there is. I get headshots and I see their blood on the wall behind them. its a real nice touch.
- Darkangel754, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I really hope this come out on Wii at some point, after you've played RE4:Wii Edition there's just no going back :(
Capcom's pretty good at porting games to weaker hardware so it's not out of the question. - TStanNY, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Thankyou Capcom for keeping my zombies thirsty
- AwesomeMonster, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Eh, the wii controls were a double edged sword. Sure it was definitely a step up from the slow relatively clumsy cube controls but it also made the game far too easy. What we need is a middle ground.
