- MechaZain, on 12/14/2007, -2/+21According to the demo, every stoplight can be a race start point in the full game.
I love me some Burnout. I think this one will finally warrant a MS Steering Wheel purchase. - Mullinsmcd, on 12/14/2007, -2/+19Should be coming today on PSN as well. Should be a great game. Can't wait.
- ntlpunk, on 12/14/2007, -8/+23true, but then you'd be stuck with a ps3.
- johanrocks, on 12/14/2007, -4/+18Get that console fanboy crap out of here. This is about Burnout: Paradise, not consoles and e-peens.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 12/14/2007, -0/+12Sweet New Burnout.
- Tempest261, on 12/14/2007, -2/+14You aren't getting any extra privileges as gold. Demos are still just demos. Don't kid yourself.
You ARE actually DENIED privileges as silver. There is a clear distinction here. They are NOT the same. - koheed, on 12/14/2007, -0/+11Anyone else notice the CompUSA ads in the demo? I laughed, and cried, just a little.
- EXreaction, on 12/14/2007, -4/+14Damn, Xbox Live Gold members only. What a rip off. :(
- DEFSMAC, on 12/14/2007, -0/+10good speak you do!
- Zero2aHero, on 12/14/2007, -0/+10You are hereby never allowed to complain whenever any game publisher gets sequel-itis.
- LoopyChew, on 12/14/2007, -3/+12Will download the demo when I get home. In the meanwhile, how IS it in Paradise City? Is the grass green? Are the girls pretty?
- Tempest261, on 12/14/2007, -1/+9Because this whole "if you are silver you get demos late" thing is only about a week old. It's Microsoft scrambling to make gold seem worth it.
And for the record, I am a gold user. - jacksons98, on 12/14/2007, -2/+9It is a rip off everyone else gets it today including Playstation owners who pay nothing. Gold members don't get it sooner, only Silver members get it later.
- Dracusis, on 12/14/2007, -7/+13You wouldn't have to wait if you had a Playstation 3.
- Zanick, on 12/14/2007, -2/+8If it ain't broke, don't fix it... thanks EA.
- dasdef, on 12/14/2007, -0/+6Holy crap! ive been waiting for this for a while. I'm downloading NOW!!
- Tempest261, on 12/14/2007, -0/+5It has multiplayer capability, but it is not strictly a multiplayer game. I played around for 5 minutes until it asked me if I wanted to connect.
And we shouldn't be paying for multiplayer anyway, but that's another debate. - LostnTransition, on 12/14/2007, -1/+6How exactly is it the poorest value or the lowest quality none of you comment makes sense at all.
- smergs, on 12/14/2007, -0/+4Play the demo on both and then decide.
- Mullinsmcd, on 12/14/2007, -1/+5hehe I was right, this game rocks. Add me on PSN if you want to play
Mullinsmcd - TheAtomicMoose, on 12/14/2007, -1/+5Ha! Time to convince you I am a father figure and molest you!
- GlitchEnzo, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3Thank God! That was the stupidest change they made for Burnout Revenge. I was happy when Burnout Dominator went back to the same style as 1,2, and 3, and I'm happy now to hear that Paradise is using the classic style.
- 3toe, on 12/14/2007, -1/+4I didn't know.
- BearinG, on 12/14/2007, -1/+4We saw it the first 5 times thanks
- zengonzo, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3It took out much of the thrill of blazing through traffic at ridiculous speeds, made it into just some high-speed bumper car game.
- PartingVisions, on 12/14/2007, -1/+4Silver members now have to wait a week after new free stuff is released to be able to download it. Just another perk of being a gold member, or as many more people see it "Microsoft screwing people who don't want to give them more money"
- zengonzo, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3I have both and while I don't mind paying for the quality of multiplayer service Microsoft provides, they sure could be a hell of a lot less stingy with other elements. Who actually spends points on gamer pics?
- teqonix, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3I'm wondering which version I should get. I have both a 360 and PS3, and while I think the PS3 version looks a little crisper, the 360 has Xbox Live that all my friends will be playing on, while my PS3 will remain single player only, pretty much.
Decisions, decisions.. - jacksons98, on 12/14/2007, -4/+7Who get's the demo on time and for free...
- scooterbaga, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3Can't believe this is the first GNR crack I've heard surrounding this game.
- Juntistik, on 12/14/2007, -1/+4You know truespect0r, you're just sinking to the real truspectors level. just keep that in mind...
- gumpy5, on 12/14/2007, -1/+4As far as I know, silver members now have to wait a week before they can get demos. It's not so much "Gold only" as it is a "Gold first" situation.
- volacide, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3I used to pay for XBL when I had a 360, then I sold it just because I didn't play it enough. It's awesome to not have to pay for PSN but be able to play all the games I want online for as long as I want, plus download demos for free and even play them online if they demos have said functionality.
- scooterbaga, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3WHAT!? That makes it like two games in one, I love crash mode. DAMN IT!
- Mtown, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2My console comes with wifi and blu-ray and has a 3.2 Ghz Octo-Processor. My console's online network is not quite as advanced a Live, but when the XMB update comes in a few months or so it will have every option and feature that Live has, only it will be free. It still won't have "achievements" that Live has, but the also-free PSHome promises to implement the exact same idea.
Clearly I picked the lowest quality console with the poorest value. - nutzngum, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2I played this game last night and i have a couple of things to say:
If you liked Burnout 3, you'll proably like this - unlike Burnout Revenge (as noted by Bippi above), you actually will need some skill to do well. Don't get me wrong - BR is the game i use to convince the non-believers that this is a kick-ass series.
What some people may or may not know is that you can pick up any car at any time, but if you're classified as a "learner" or "beginner", the faster, scarier cars will be hard to control properly until you've driven for a while and increased your driver class.
It feels like Burnout, for the most part - the lack of big flashing barriers that hold your hand and literally point you in exactly the direction you are supposed to be going do not exist - and while that may be daunting for some folks, it WILL make you want to get to know the city better. This will give the game a longer life - repeated cruising through the massive environment (has anyone else zoomed out on the map view and been slightly impressed by the size of it?!) will not only be fun, it'll give the player an upper hand on those who just pick up and play.
I, too, can do without the prolonged money-shot you get EVERY time you wreck / driveaway your car - it's cool a couple of times, but I keep running into the edges of the map at full speed and it's distracting and kinda squelches the momentum.
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to it (strangely not as much as I am looking forward to Midnight Club:LA)(yay Rockstar!) - it still looks like a burnout game, it's absolutly gorgeous and the sense of speed, even on the "slow" car you're given in the demo, is quite exhilarating.
sure as hell beats Need For Speed Pro Street...EA needs to slow down of the NFS sequels...they're starting to get a little lame. - EXreaction, on 12/15/2007, -0/+2But if you had 3 PS3's....
- nutzngum, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2i'm getting a ps3 next week (if i can find one) and will be downloading the demo to check it out, but i'm pretty sure i'll buy the 360 version - i'm neither a 360 nor a ps3 fanboy, but the xbox live setup is very friendly and will likely make it the popular choice...until PS Home comes out, then it's anyone's guess.
- BearinG, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2Maybe not for this game.. but the wheel works fine in other games..
- BearinG, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2If you are smooth it can.. people think because its a game steering that you can just throw it right of left.. or slam on the brakes.. try that in a real car on a race track.
- BearinG, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2That's how its been since like the first spring or fall update
- kenvsryu, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2http://ps3mods.blogspot.com/2007/12/playstation-st ...
- Mtown, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2It's a decent enough size and there are a lot of different routes and short-cuts, but once you hit top-boosting-speed you're only 10-15 seconds away from slamming headfirst into a "Road Closed until 2008" barrier.
i DID NOT like DJ Atomica at all. He was fine in SSX, but he is so repetitive and unrealistic in this game. Saying things like, "We're getting reports of a lone driver speeding down the wrong side of the road wreaking havoc across Paradise City. Driver, we salute you." and "So last weekend I was trying to a barrel-roll of the top of the parking garage through a billboard..." are not funny or amusing. Plus you can't skip any of the crap he says. Every time I play the demo, I have to wait and listen to dozens of 15-20 second explanations from him. If I could keep driving I wouldn't care, but he pauses time or something so I just have to sit there and re-learn about the map and internet options for the 15th time. - Juntistik, on 12/14/2007, -1/+3I disagree with betterth, the drive wheel for the 360 is VERY fun and not the least bit hard to control at all. The wireless is a nice feature too (my friends couch is FAR from the console)
- Juntistik, on 12/14/2007, -3/+5Jackson98 has been bashing the 360 for a while now(its obvious by his profile). Move along people nothing to see here, just your average fanboy troll.
- Dracusis, on 12/14/2007, -6/+8Also avaliable on the Playstation Network, and you don't have to wait a week to get it for free.
- BearinG, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2I think you just don't know how to use it.. or your setup is *****...
I have been playing racing games with controllers for ever and now have the steering... it works wonderfully.. I fisrt had it for PGR3 wchih was very fun too.. but now in forza its incredible.. i get better times with the steering..
Although, I do know how to drive - Mtown, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2WHAT!?!? Why would they take something like that out?
- bloodr, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2I wasn't impressed by the demo mainly because 1) there's no way to just jump to and start an event you always have to drive to it 2) if you fail an event you have to drive all the way back to the start yourself, there's no quick restart option. These two flaws are dealbreakers in my book.
- bCabulon, on 12/15/2007, -0/+2What?! You have to pay to download pictures off xbox live?
