- dha07030, on 07/16/2008, -4/+55What is that I hear? Is that Hype?
- BedPost, on 07/16/2008, -2/+21It's not hype. MS is holding their cards close to their chest - Sony and Nintendo had relatively weak conferences, and MS doesn't want to drop another unneeded bomb when they can start promoting Gears 2.
I think the biggest evidence that this is real is the live webcams. For the past week or so, there have been some action figure esque things in front of one of their webcams (teasers), and they were knocked over by a Bungie employee - presumably, a pretty pissed off one.
Anyways, it's a Halo announcement, and as a longtime Halo fan, I really wish it wasn't. Give us something new goddamnit. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -4/+18Bungie should just rename themselves Halo studios.
- readme, on 07/16/2008, -0/+13Microsoft is confirmed to be the publisher by Luke Smith, Bungie's PR guy on NeoGAF.
- Zantive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+14Actually, yes he is. I thought his title was "Studio Manager" but regardless he is the man in charge. He used to be a testing manager but has since moved up after the departure of Pete Parsons, taking over his position.

Correct.
The Halocaust is forthcoming. Halo 4: Start another fight for no reason. - elpohl, on 07/16/2008, -1/+9Starcraft 2 and Halo Wars don't compete for the same market!
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6"Subject: E3 announce", LOL
- Konrad9, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7Heard of Marathon? Myth? Oni?
- Unrest, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6True, though Microsoft does still own the intellectual property rights for Halo.
- NeoCortex, on 07/16/2008, -2/+7Ummm....no they don't. Not anymore.
- gametavern, on 07/16/2008, -2/+6Good, too much Halo all at once. Halo 3 is still getting TONS of online play. No need to blow their wad right now.
- Connerd117, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3The halo franchise is owned by Microsoft so another halo game won't be on the ps3 but a new game could.
- zarrel40, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4I really hope that this isnt Halo 4, I thought the story was good and ended with Halo 3. If its another story in the Halo universe, I'm okay with that, but please don't be another sequel. I could deal with a prequel maybe. But I think it would be cool if it was a different storyline all together
- mlvassallo, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4Yawn.
- exomni, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4As Microsoft won E3 hands down, it makes sense to keep a trump-card close to their chest for later this year. Why draw attention away from Gears 2?
- elpohl, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3Blaaaargh. Bungie's website just updated. Shucks. Nothing viral here...
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topne ... - metroidragon, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3Exactly. "president" may be a new title, but regardless he is the top dog, the big cheese, the beefy cow... well maybe I made that last metaphor, but you get the idea.

- WhereAmI, on 07/16/2008, -4/+6Well the age range fits to the crying age.
- FMVorenkamp, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3I cannot help but wonder if this is a direct reaction to Sony and Nintendo having weak ass conferences... no need to fire anymore big guns- they already kicked them to the curb with the FF13 thing.
- ryleyleckie, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3I would freak out, in a good way.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3I actually posted this one before the other, never expecting both to hit front page. DOH!
Digg needs better Dupe prevention, and to help stop it from being used as a marketing tool. - illustrick, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2this is just proof that Microsoft still owns bungie......they might not advertise it as much, but they still own bungie as much as everyone wants to think that they aren't this is proof that bungie is just another notch on the line that is microsoft owned entities.
- metroidragon, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2'A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.'
-Shiggy
I agree that it's unfortunante that they delayed the annoucement, but that just means that it's not as far nito development as they would like. So their original projected release date has probably been delayed, which is fine by me. I'm psyched to hell for this new game though. - YouRookies, on 07/16/2008, -6/+8I'm calling it now. MS pissed off Bungie by cancelling their E3. MS didn't even mention Halo Wars during their conference. Bungie then goes multi-platform and all gamers win. And don't say it's never possible, look at FF13.
- retrovertigo, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I doubt it. There is no such thing as bad publicity, and they're going to get a ton of interest because of this.
- SOS84, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Yes, but pre-MS Bungie bears little resemblance to post-MS Bungie.
- truncheon, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1This one is a no-brainer. Microsoft didn't want Halo pissing in Gears 2's punchbowl. This year, you buy Gears 2. Stay on message, here, people!!!
- chaos7, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2idiots are digging you down
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I agree. I want to see an updated Marathon or something.
- gametavern, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1And Bungie are laughing all the way to the bank.
- elpohl, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1OK I suck. It's for real.
- ryleyleckie, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1SC2 = PC and Mac exclusive
- freebird4, on 07/16/2008, -4/+5Yeah, I'm calling Bungie's bluff. Come on, the publisher cancelled on them 12 hours before their supposed announcement? They've been building this up for months, and their publisher had ample time to pull the plug. Why would they do it with only 12 hours remaining on the count-down clock? And notice how the memo was posted at 7:00 pm. Bungie always ties the number 7 into their viral marketing attempts.
If they do announce it tomorrow, I hope it's not just some XBLA title. - patm1987, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2@ryleyleckie
Starcraft 2 - PC Exclusive
Halo Wars - 360 Exclusive
They seem to be very different markets. - Jenadae, on 07/16/2008, -7/+8Its viral marketing...
- macattak420, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1I agree with zarrel40 they ended the story in halo 3 so bungie has two options 1st new storyline or no game... so ther definetly going with the storyline. its still annoying how they stopped it so sudden and close to the end of the countdown but at least they are making a new game
- paulsabo, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2Hmm, convenient almost-bombshell being pulled at the last minute? Sounds like classic Bungie to me... fascinating how it was posted at 7:00, eh?
To quote dha07030.... - NJank, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1No, I will not accept it!
- V3NOM, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3Thanks for that last bit. I thought I was the only one that really wanted a new IP from Bungie. Halo is great and all, but it's time Bungie took on a completely new project that allows them to create something entirely new.
- Matt2k, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1Check the source code. That and the website domain name is "101.9 FOX FM"

Aw C'mon! - Zantive, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1It's still a pretty harsh blow, the people on Bungie.net were very much into it... there was even a timer counting down, I believe there was about 12 hours remaining when it was stopped.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I think it makes more sense to deliver the final crushing blow.
- SuperIntendent, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1PLEASE REMAIN CALM
- MrFisty, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1"Our game announcement has been pulled by our publisher... and slyly redistributed by our marketing team."
