- Elementix, on 05/14/2009, -5/+176Would you kindly release this soon?
- iEATcatFOOD, on 05/14/2009, -6/+108I was born January 1st, 1901. Nice to meet you, internet.
- Augie1969, on 05/14/2009, -2/+74Hah...Fascinating. I like the idea of being able to go out into the ocean to explore.
I just hope that you don't have to carry around the Little Sisters for the majority of the time to experience the "good" ending. I hate escort quests, personally. - damnshoes, on 05/14/2009, -4/+59i love escorts, personally.
- HALNINETHOUSAND, on 05/14/2009, -3/+46Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That is all.
- Halsfield, on 05/14/2009, -5/+46I really don't want to be a big daddy, anyone else feel the same? I liked feeling vulnerable and weak, alone in the dark with a wrench with a lot of scary things looking to prey on me. Now you're basically a tank that can take on large groups of splicers with ease. You also have to play babysitter now, hurray...im sure everyone is excited for that.
I'd rather be a father of one of the stolen girls, or the crazed reporter that is following the story and seeking the truth on somethinginthesea.com . Being a human allows us to become powerful near the end of the game after we've earned it, but start out afraid and alone like you did in the first game when you first stepped off the bathysphere into the darkness and had to worry about splicers coming out around every corner. The idea to be a big daddy feels like they let a 9yr old play the first one, asked them what they thought would be cool, and they said "i want to be a big daddy that would be totally sweet!" and went with it.
I just feel like they've made the semi-horror/messing with your mind game into a regular fps game where its all about explosions and machine guns and not as much about the human experience. - Andrewe1, on 05/14/2009, -7/+35One of the few games that's actually gonna be much better than the first one. At least that's how it seems...
- HomeSkillz, on 05/14/2009, -1/+27I really have my doubts about that. The first one came out of nowhere and featured a completely unique environment and an amazingly cohesive and original storyline. I doubt the second is going to be able to top it in these departments, but, of course, I really hope I'm wrong.
- drmangrum, on 05/14/2009, -4/+26I love how the video is age restricted but has a horror movie trailer preceding it.
- Robs89, on 05/14/2009, -0/+17who the hell is that man behind the glass at 4:38 onwards?!
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -3/+19What I'm wondering is why sites insist on asking me to enter my age. As if that proves I'm "old enough".
This is the internet. Just show the damn video.
I don't see lemonparty or xtube asking me to enter my age. - rectifier, on 05/14/2009, -3/+19This looks like Bioshock 1 - same gfx, same atmosphere but you get to play other characters.
I'm slightly concerned by that, I'm sure I am not alone. - Nicoon, on 05/14/2009, -0/+14Mr. Bubbles.
Mr. Bubbles.
Are you there?
Are you there?
Come and give me waffles.
Come and give me waffles.... - doubledmateo, on 05/15/2009, -0/+13Dude, you don't deserve to get dugg down for this comment. Seriously WTF people. You're totally right. I'm still interested in the game, but Bioshock is one of my all time favorites for exactly the reasons you described above. I just don't see this game having the same sway for me as the original did. I hope I'm wrong on that, but too many developers are subscribing to the 'bigger, better, and more bad ass' school of game development that is on the rise. Being a walking tank is kind of cool for a couple segments or so, but spending the entire game like that just gets so ridiculous that you lose the sense of immersion.
How do you escalate things when you start off this powerful? I'm not saying the game will suck. I have hope for it and it'll be a day one purchase for me. I just hope it still retains the essence of what made the original so awesome. - 0tis, on 05/14/2009, -1/+13Maybe it survived?
- ClevelandBrown, on 05/14/2009, -2/+13Jizzed myself twice watching this.
- johnomaz, on 05/14/2009, -1/+12the graphics and atmosphere were great in the first one. I'm not worried. The story of Bioshock 1 helped make it an awesome game. There are a lot of pretty games that just suck.
- rivalthecreator, on 05/14/2009, -4/+14Would you kindly hand me a towel?
- cptmichael101st, on 05/14/2009, -1/+11I can think of a ton that were *****.
- Nicoon, on 05/14/2009, -0/+10It is not a prequel.
From Wikipedia:
"The player will take the role of the first Big Daddy ever created in Rapture, who possesses superior speed and intelligence than subsequent Big Daddies, though he lacks some of their strength. He has seemingly survived the events of the first game."
And then later again "Set ten years after the events of BioShock,[8]".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock_2 - santiago1, on 05/14/2009, -1/+10 Dick Clark, is that you?
- Nicoon, on 05/14/2009, -1/+104.
- theEpiphany, on 05/15/2009, -0/+9Oh stop being a cheap ***** and and support the damn game.
- isayre020888, on 05/15/2009, -0/+9I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Metal Gear Solid 2 on us and we only play as a Big Daddy for a little while. They wouldn't go through all the trouble of making somethinginthesea.com for nothing. I think there's a lot of potential in a "reporter looking for the truth" type story, hopefully that wasn't just an elaborate teaser and something comes out of that idea.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+8Nobody of any age should see lemon party.
- Halsfield, on 05/14/2009, -0/+8I appreciated the creepiness and the horror aspects and I feel like the second one is going to be a lot less scary because you're playing from inside a tank.
- Tryptomine, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7Retailers are a terrible source for release dates.
- Cloned, on 05/14/2009, -1/+8I just beat Bioshock a couple weeks ago (I hadn't played it until then). I loved it! I really did not like it at first because I had no idea what was going on and it was hard and scary, but after I got the hang of it and got into the story and I can call it one of my favorite games.
- mikepictor, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7I actually think it will make that moral choice harder. In #1, you didn't suffer much from taking the "nice" route, since they always threw you extra rewards. I had adam to spare playing #1, and I took the nice option every time.
This time....I might be tempted. Do I want to do yet another splicer ambush, or just suck the little sister dry. - ghatid, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7At least she doesn't run next to you and attract bullets...
- 64705, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6For all those people in the queue, try Gamershell.com: http://www.gamershell.com/news_76194.html
- elrac, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6That is the splicer that is assaulting the little sister when you go inside.
- Henzee, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6This scenario of being a big daddy... it sounds alright, but honestly it sounds more like an expansion that should have been on xbox live.
I would have LOVED to be a citizen or the creator of Rapture (Andrew Ryan) within the setting of a prequel to Bishock, and witness how Rapture tore itself apart step by step. - digdugge, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6january 1st 1933 worked for me, I'm a 76 year old who loves bioshock lol
- Hooner, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6** Achievement Unlocked **
- mrsinister2424, on 05/14/2009, -1/+7Yeah, you're alone.
- bearzly, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Every Call of Duty game not by Treyarch is better than the previous one
- Hanzolot, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Just because you get to play as a Big Daddy doesn't mean you'll be ridiculous forever. Who knows what kind of plot twists might come out? More mind control/etc?
They might start you out ridiculous, then you lose everything by some event early on in the game, requiring you to build your way back up.
Regardless, they seem to know what they're doing. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. - dclowd9901, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5It doesn't really affect the story at all. You're presuming that he's waking up from creation in the demo. He could very well be the first, and just have been around all this time.
- reiner15, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5The slicer fight looks like it will be tough, but that might get old fighting off a group of slicers for adam everytime. I guess the only way it would be fun would be to figure out all the ways to defend a group of them.
I don't even know what to expect from the big sister. - JollyDumple, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5I'm sure the setting reminds you of the good old days.
- mikepictor, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4adam, not atom
- danwallace, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5Isn't that usually the way it goes? I can think of a ton of games that are better than their predecessor.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -8/+12I can now play as the Big Daddy? AWESOME
- johnomaz, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4I would think so.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Since when do games need mouse drivers? This isn't DOS. The only drivers you should need are the ones installed with Windows.
Gamepads can be a different story, but that's a support issue rather than a driver issue. - Halsfield, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4We asked for babysitting little sisters? I know I didn't. I want this game more than anything and I think they will do a good job, but saying they listened to everything we wanted isn't really true.
- Rivetgeek, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Dont bother adjusting the gamma for your demo or anything...pitch black corners are fun!
- Bishoco, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5Warcraft 2
Age of Empires 2
Sim City 2000
Diablo 2 - CityandColourrr, on 05/14/2009, -3/+7This is going to be fantastic.
