- blackprizm, on 07/10/2009, -2/+11The trailer is nice but it's a tad bit deceptive. The action is in no way that intense. In fact, if you played matches of yore with 32 vs. 32 in 1942 you know how intense and strategic the game can be. But conquest with 12 vs. 12, while fun, is a bit anemic.
There's no capture and hold strategy in place. It's just run from flag to flag to flag to flag. Everyone is doing there own thing. Not much teamwork. There's no real chance for your team to totally dominate the map because there's always a spawn point. That said, it is an arcade game, and well worth the $15. Fun to relive the glory again. However, it just whets my appetite for the larger, more epic battles I fondly remember.

I feel a little ***** over, having bought a no-refund, multiplayer-only game with insufficient servers

Usually there is a powerthrow level from light toss to rocket cannon...but for 1943, there is only ROCKET CANNON. This is frustrating when I just want to toss a grenade in a building, but instead it just richotes off all the walls and out a window.

great dogfighting with prop planes, the jets in bf2 were too fast for the size of the map. - inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4I loved BF1942, my first real game, then to the little played BF vietnam which i loved for the helicopters. then a seista to BF2 then BF heroes for a bit and now 1943 which rocks by the way.

"Realistic" graphics (ala not a TF2 lookalike, although I still love TF2 and its style), first person view, and none of the silly "perks" or whatever in BF Heroes, and MUCH better maps.
Best $15 game ever. I'd say it's one of the best deals for a video game ever, but that would be a lie because that title goes to The Orange Box. But this is also quite a deal. - Yarkz, on 07/11/2009, -1/+4Youtube mirror
