- MrLazySmurf, on 01/08/2008, -10/+35Now this is the next generation format, not HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. Both will fail.
- KingGoonie, on 01/08/2008, -2/+16As a fan of both... sorry as good as Heroes is, its not Lost. Lets stack up what we can... Lost Season 1 was one of the greatest single seaons in TV history. Heroes was great too, but not up to that standard. Both second seasons started out slow... and since Heroes had a short second season its not fair to compare, but Losts second half of seaons 2 was great... Lost season 3 started out great, then was slow in the middle, then ended with a bang.
Overall Lost is a better show - Braingoo, on 01/08/2008, -1/+12I want Mythbuster's and Good Eats Episodes.
- V0lk, on 01/08/2008, -1/+7Yes, you TOO can buy again what you've already paid for....
- DarkShroud, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6Really? I actually prefer to own my own content.
- KAMiKAZOW, on 01/08/2008, -1/+6C'mon be serious. An Xbox 360 costs less than an AppleTV, it has HD capabilities, and it plays games.
If Apple wants to get serious about AppleTV, they need to work with Nintendo on that to produce a machine that's to the Wii what the Panasonic Q was for the GameCube.
Technically that machine wouldn't even be that hard, because Wii's CPU is a PowerPC chip and AppleTV's OS is a modified Mac OS X. Wii's CPU + its GPU as co-processor should be able to decode stdandard-def MPEG-4 just fine. Throw is a hard disk and ready is the new mass-market video device. That's still not HD, but this "Wii TV" would benefit from the combined hype surrounding Nintendo and Apple these days and still be cheaper than an Xbox incl. HDD. - Braingoo, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Dear Lord they do!
http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/p-608610-0%2061%20 ... - staticneuron, on 01/08/2008, -1/+5I agree with DarkShroud. I don't mind renting or viewing digital media but I'll be damned if I give up my tangible media. They try to control how we use our tangible media enough what happens when its all digital? It becomes easier to control. What happens if you on't have enough space? Hard Drive gets damaged and you loose all of that. On a 360 you would have to shell out a hefty price for the HD or sen it in. Do you really want to wait on the turnaround with no media?
I don't know. This all digital future push some people seems to be on is silly to me. Personally I think it would coexist with tangible media for a long time because I do not see my family or the majority of people i work with willing to give up the safety of having a physical object over some technology and rules that they don't understand. As a matter of fact some of them still even use VHS. So keep your digital media, I am happy for you but I will accept IPTV and make sure I have Physical copy's of any media I purchase on hand. - inactive, on 01/08/2008, -3/+7I wouldn't say that...
But then, they have perfected the art of taking a story that could be shot in a 90 minute movie and dragging it out for 60+ hours now... - inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4how many points... cost?
- badwithcomputer, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4i can't wait to see this on my ps3- michael bay said that the dirty secret nobody is talking about in the format war is digital downloads which (as the clear number 1 comment here put it) are the real next gen. i'm glad to see this stuff coming along.
- logicalnoise, on 01/08/2008, -1/+4having good eats on hand for whenever I start a dish would be awesome.( maybe I should just buy the dvds).
- Switch22, on 01/08/2008, -5/+8That is if you can get onto Live
- MikeOSX, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3I'm all for digital downloads; but not until Microsoft drops the points system. Oh, and allow me to attach an external hard drive.
- logicalnoise, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2ouch 235 plus shipping...I'll just start dvring them.
- schemp98, on 01/08/2008, -2/+4FINALLY!! Desperate Housewives is where it belongs, on my xbox!!!
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Granted I've never seen a single episode of Lost, but I just don't see how a storyline like that works very well for a TV show. At some point you want a resolution of the whole thing, right? Seems like it'd make a better movie than a long drawn-out TV show that gets more and more complex every season.
- supermanred, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2I'd rather have been rick-rolled. What was that crap?
- schizogony, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Kingdom of Heaven on Blu-ray is 42GB for the movie itself.
- KingGoonie, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2MGM? Dead Like Me tv series (and future straight to dvd movie) FTW!!!! (Unless its already on there as a past showtime show... not sure)
- MWeather, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Lately Heroes has had to cut a season in half and write a new finale. What's Lost's excuse?
- BearinG, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1You don't want your friends to find it on your TiVo uh ..
- CollapseControl, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1I have the pilot downloaded on my 360, it was free, but that was it.... no other episodes came.
- CollapseControl, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1I'm a big time supporter of XBLVM. I don't really rent movies but I do download lots of TV Shows. As of late i've been watching shows more on my 360 than through my cable box. It is awesome watching shows between gaming sessions without commercials. I have way too many discs in my possesion that I don't mind having downloaded content to save space. Most season DVDs come with what, 5 or more discs! I have well over 400 movies on DVD, Over 50 game discs, and over 800 music CDs. I'm definitly looking to cut down space. Also, all my spare time is spent gaming, not trying to rip off a bunch of companies by pirating everything.
- Christbait, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1I concur... now all we need is for our ISPs to open up our connection speeds a bit.
- MikeOSX, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2Blu-Ray may hold 50gb, but the movies are no where near that big.
- MWeather, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Is it faster than snail mail yet?
- theaceoffire, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1It was political satire. Apparently a minister was releasing videos condeming people, so this comedian started copying (See original: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aD4bn5pp32w )
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1YEah yeah, because the whole history of audio the last 10 years totally suggest that what consumers really want is uncompressed audio.
- theaceoffire, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1A three hour tour.
- staticneuron, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2Really? Why? Or do you just like to talk out random stuff for no reason?
- Braingoo, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1They make DVD's of them?
- ronfez, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Lost is the better show, but the 3rd season started out weak and took off from there to season 1 levels.
- MikeOSX, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1The same could be said for Heroes as of late.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Well that depends. If you are buying a tv episode, you can delete it after you watch it, then go back and download watch it again whenever you want to. If it is a movie, it is a rental.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2Right, because thats what the music industry said about music too. And we all know that when push came to shove, consumers loved their CD's and refused to give them up until the bitter end. LOL.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1They have some TV shows... But it doesn't look like the networks are fully commited yet. You get to keep the tv shows and watch them as much as you want. You can even delete them and download them again at a later time. Movies are rentals.
The prices range between $2-$5, with the $2 mostly being SD television episodes that you buy, and $5 being and high def movie that you rent. - Dgen_X, on 01/08/2008, -2/+2I read the description and saw "then watch 'rocky' and...." and so wanted to see "Bullwinkle" right after that 'and'
Good to see that more media will be available - jbrown101st, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1James Bond?
- jefferygomer, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1While I sorta agree... I enjoy the 60, hour long segments more than a movie. This was proven when I tried to watch it on DVD. I enjoyed an episode, but after the third one in a row, I was bored. Spacing it out over time allows me to enjoy it more.
- frygar, on 01/08/2008, -2/+2Too bad you can't keep it. Still sore about HD-DVD, huh? Figures.
- MikeOSX, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1A huge American company teaming up with a huge Japanese company just calls for disaster.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Wow, I love the smell of desperation! In the Warner announcement, they went with BD in a last ditch attempt to avoid irrelevancy of both formats.
- CrazyForSW, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Do they have any TV shows on the Marketplace yet, or is it just videos? I haven't checked. If they do, how much is it for each episode (or season)?
- sp00nz, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1You think you own the HD formats when you purchase them? Do you not remember the whole AACS fiasco? Jeez.
- jschluchter, on 01/15/2008, -0/+0I sense a PS3 Fanboy here.
- sp00nz, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1calm down fanboys
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -3/+2ya but i bet its not really in .h264
- volacide, on 01/08/2008, -2/+1I like being able to rent movies digitally in HD, that's cool sometimes if you're too lazy or don't want to waste the gas to make a trip to BlockBuster. But at the end of the day, I like to actually have a movie collection that I can physically display, hold, and all that good stuff. Rather than have my entire collection of movies just be on some HDDs that could fail at any time and end up with me having to spend hundreds of hours re-downloading them all over again.
Not to mention needing to require the space to contain these movies in HD. Imagine how quickly we would need terabyte drives for the average consumer if digital 1080p movie downloads became the norm instead of hard copy discs. When we pay for a movie we're also paying for the convience to have that huge file movie being taken up on the disc rather than wasting our HDD space. - Mossman85, on 01/08/2008, -2/+1I would of been more excited about this if it was announced before the last update.
