- WestEast, on 09/11/2008, -9/+69If you vote mcCain you get a RROD.
- cmost, on 09/11/2008, -0/+36I'm disgusted with the media and the way it's handling the elections. We seem to run our elections like a bunch of school children. Name calling, "he said; she said", and pointing fingers. All I need to hear from the candidates is who they are and what they plan to accomplish (and how.) The rest of it is nothing more than mindless distraction, which the juvenile American public evidently eats up faster than they do their McDonald's French fries. Grow up America! Let's drop the childish behavior and take care of business for once.
- Masna, on 09/10/2008, -10/+40Why do we have to download a gamerpic? Wouldn't it be much easier (and more intuitive) to add a polling section to the Dashboard?
Oh Microsoft... - kent1146, on 09/11/2008, -2/+21So.... this poll will tell us what a userbase, where 75% of the population is too young to vote, would pick for a president?
Yeah, that's relevant. Time has shown us that people hiding under the anonymity of the internet never lie or do things to evoke a negative reaction. - averagemario, on 09/11/2008, -1/+18I thought most McCain supporters are still playing Sega Genesis.
- AndrewDB, on 09/11/2008, -2/+15I think adding another section to the Dash would of required another, albeit, chunkier sized download, and Microsoft is already too busy working on the new Autumn dash update to be concerned with a minor thing like who gamers would be voting for.
They're just doing this for posterity and the fun of it. - Murdats, on 09/11/2008, -4/+15so you know nothing of politics or consoles.
- TheWorm, on 09/11/2008, -1/+12Because people really care about the racist 12 year old demographic.
- MrFurious2k, on 09/11/2008, -1/+12Yes, because 13 year olds who want to do something to my mom really making a good polling segment.
- ileftfark, on 09/11/2008, -1/+10That's right- make a difference in your world. Fulfill your duty as a citizen by participating in the greatest American process there is- downloading stuff on your Xbox.
- BufordT, on 09/10/2008, -5/+13I thought this was going to be some lame "most downloads" contest on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN. Instead it's a lame "most downloads" contest on the Xbox.
- jermm, on 09/11/2008, -1/+9Thankfully, 4 lights simply means the AV cable can't be detected. Now 3 lights, then something is ***** up.
- Fallout911, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7Will you ***** whiners shut the ***** up?
MS is at least trying to get new GAMER voters.
The more numbers "we" have the less govt targets us when some idiot blows away his graduating class. - skinsgamer, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6I thought they played golf.
- cgbspender, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6At least the 360 is more secure than Diebold's *****.
- Authustian, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6Ouch, my brain.
- petebot, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5What do they want to do to your mom? ...oh...
- Exhaust, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5Exactly. Like this cost anything or took any effort.. These whiny douches just set on their computer and bitch about anything and everything.
I think its a good thing that MS is doing this. We need more young people involved in politics. Even if only a couple gamers get involved in politics because of this it should be considered a great success. Out of touch old people are screwing govenment up. I'm sick of this 50's mind set. Video games are the devil! They're corupting da childrens! - SSUK, on 09/11/2008, -1/+6Well, he is right though. You still can't play a game with the 4-light warning.
- PubeStache, on 09/11/2008, -1/+6What if you download all of them like I did?
- DestroyFascism, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5News just in: McCain supporters broke out in a fight while attempting to vote using a pinball machine at the local burger inn...
- byronm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5Personally, I'm glad the 360 is putting politics in front of a few more million people - even if only to download a pic of their candidate and to register to vote.
- 1337Einstein, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5Some of them might have written Genesis.
- theaceoffire, on 09/11/2008, -3/+7^_^ This is just preparing you for later.
See, you can vote for them, sure... but you will still see Barack or McCain as your gamer pic. Just like real life. - candafilm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Your understanding of how welfare works is astonishing.
- tragik, on 09/11/2008, -2/+5If there was a way to actually register to vote and actually vote, this would be pretty sweet. I guess this is a step in the right direction?
- graemee, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Which one does Jean Poutine endorse?
- Kazaki, on 09/11/2008, -1/+4It isn't America being childish, it's the media. It is the media that is destroying your faith in the people, rather then the people themselves.
I refuse to believe that reasonable adults can't see through all this crap, and find myself insulted by what's being reported. What the media doesn't understand is their ratings are high not because of this stupid lipstick crap, but because it's an election year. You could run a report on how Michelle Obama likes to roast her whatever-the-hell, and everyone would still watch it. - DarkBlueAnt, on 09/11/2008, -2/+5This joke was already done in this topic. You get dugg down for repeats. It bores me >:(
- condorhauck, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Cable news media is about ratings, the more they can milk a story for the ratings the more they will do so.
example.
Weather Channel this morning says Hurricane Ike will likely make landfall as a Category 3, it could Make Landfall as a High 2, or a Low 4.
Same basic story on CNN says Hurricane Ike could make landfall as a Category 4 storm,
While both are true, CNN is clearly playing to sensationalism.
Although I agree that mainstream media plays right into it, there is still some fundamental issues with the way that Americans are reacting to it.
The media doesn't post inane and utterly useless insults about the person / ideology that they are voting against. The media doesn't act like game console fanboys.
{PSuX, Phony, Micro$oft, etc.} == {McSame, Sarah Failin, BarryO, LibTards, etc.} - inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3They're trying to give it some air of legitimacy by only allowing Obama and McCain. It's ridiculous, because you know if they included Master Chief he'd probably end up with 90% of the vote.
- vypergts, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Actually it is. If we weren't a country of apathetic monkeys who eat up the ***** their fed and maintain the status quo (constantly shifting the blame onto others for our mistakes btw) the media wouldn't keep cramming it down our throats. If people don't buy something it doesn't sell. The reality is people care more about soft news topics like what a candidate is wearing than they do about their views on education. So that's what the media gives them. It's a simple cycle really. We're all to blame. It is childish.
- Chineyz, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3Well so basically whoever we choose we are still f'd but if I choose Obama I dont have to send my candidate I mean console back and wait for a new one?
- SpinningHead, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3McCain was Obama's age when Atari came out.
- tragik, on 09/11/2008, -2/+4Oh! I forgot that the current system is perfect, and never *coughFloridacough* abused at all. Yep. My bad.
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2No. I am going for a record.
- ciaran036, on 09/11/2008, -1/+3I came on a little strong there.
- inajeep, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2The adult XBL gaming group I belong to doesn't allow political discussions in their forums. I wonder what happens if we start showing up our favorite politician for our gamer pics?
- d3dm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2We're the ones that buy the damn things for our kids.
- venom8599, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2They do have a generic 'Other' gamer pic.
- sexybobo, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2@thespiff
why didn't you just check the box when you filled out your selective services card? - SevenTwo, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2More like the Atari.
- ScionX, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2By WestEast "If you vote mcCain you get a RROD."
It's even its own comment so it's not as if you would miss it due to it being embedded in someones thread.
Granted you said Obama instead of McCain, but it's the same joke none the less. - Elranzer, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Ah neocons, always posers... even the young ones.
- philipz78, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Cortana?
- bmcnally, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1They also put up Red vs Blue public service announcements.
- Kinsbane, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1I like what they're doing, but to only have a representation of two of the several parties that have a candidate for the presidency, this is a bit close-minded. If they wanted to be fair, they'd have gamerpics for the Green Party, Constitutionalists, and Libertarians, as well as the Independents. That way they could be included in the results, too.
- rdoger6424, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1And as soon as the rapid digging protection feature was implemented, Palin is disappearing.
