Wait - so, they're saying that these aren't pictures of the Tsavo Highway, then? - guitarh3ro, on 10/10/2007, -7/+53It's actually a good read; and seriously, you can't expect people to stop posting info about Halo 3, can you? The game is going to be a freaking epic!
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27I'm not sure, they should've made it more clear.
- DMDekoth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25Ownageness? Nerdgasm? What the *****.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -13/+34Alright, before all of the "FPS games belong on PC" and "Halo sux" comments hit the board, just remember that about 7 million other people don't agree with you (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/halo2/news.html?page=1&sid=6116784) and would appreciate any hateful comments with no reasonable opinion to back it up to be kept to yourself.
- saltinekracka20, on 10/10/2007, -5/+23um....NO it doesnt. You obiviously arent a 360 owner, or a Halo 2 owner for that matter. There's a mountain of difference between the two.
- Exhaust, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Don't laugh Destructiod saw your comment and is hard at work on the exclusive right now. It'll be on digg front page within the hour...
- DangerStepp, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19I'm a big fan of 1up, as well as the Halo series. I can agree that the the Halo 3 exposure is about to reach a breaking point. I have my pre-order and look forward to the game. Until then, I don't want to spoil the experience by reading someone else's. Not to sound like an uber geek or anything. But I'm sure mainstream press back in late 70s wasn't doing the whole: "ZOMG!!! EMPIRE STRIKES BACK STILLZ!!!!!! NEW SNOW PLANET!!"
There is such a thing as keeping something pure. - agentVivid, on 10/10/2007, -10/+25buried for the word nerdgasm
- cusoman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17So... Halo 3 has mountains? EPIC.
- LogicBomB, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I'm still confused why people go out of their way to hate Halo and openly hate Halo to people who love Halo. It would be like me going to a Star Trek forum talking about how the next movie will suck because Star Trek is over rated.
Seriously, if you don't like it, why even go through the trouble? Many of us LOVE the game and you're opinions are not changing that. - skankyBacon, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Dugg for the word nerdgasm.
- lsandberg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I would note that that article was written in 2005 and that that number has probably gone up a lot since then.
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Note: The use of leet-speak only makes you look stupider and reminds us all why many PC games (i.e. Counterstrike) suck... I'd prefer playing with fairly normal people on Xbox live (with a mix of ***** thrown in), than the asshats who play some PC games.
- JVIikel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Wow you're so witty and right! Because under the age of 21, kids obviously play games they don't like...
/Sarcasm - kevnaca, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Is it just me or are 1up's servers getting slammed?
- lazysquid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Halo is a good game. Personally I think it is because the campaign is rather engaging and the multi-player maps are well designed.. Speaking as someone who "grew up on" FPS games with mouse and keyboard- I have grown to prefer the xbox game pad
- Lasereth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Pictures are already dead. :( Man those graphics are looking much better than they did a year ago.
- estvir, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Or people with different taste/opinions.
OMGWOW. - smurf22, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12All kinds of awesome, mainly because of the old halo pistol.
- beckerist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10...and Digg is just a website.
- Skitals, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Not much can compare to Wii graphics, Wiinii.
- skankyBacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Stop saying "LAWL." It's stupid.
- nightsweat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Yeah, seriously. Everyone knows it's "pwnageness".
- cusoman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9PC gaming a dying breed? You're very jaded.
- evulhotdog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8http://duggmirror.com/xbox_360/1UP_plays_a_level_of_Halo_3_shows_mankind_of_the_ownageness_therein/
- kevnaca, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Maybe it is, maybe it is. How are we suppoesed to tell the difference?
- estvir, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9You're on Digg telling people they need to get laid.. the sheer irony may cause the universe to explode.
- paul2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Have you actually seen any screen shots? The game looks pretty damn good to me.
- HolyChimp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Dugg down purely for the use of the word "LAWL"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Oh *****! He's created a parallel universe!
- superdupergc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5i think halo is so good because it's designed for console: melee, sticky grenades and inaccurate weapons all lend themselves to a controller as opposed to a mouse.
then again, i don't mind shadowrun at all - but its guns are pretty inaccurate and you can use a katana. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -8/+13PC gaming is a dying breed, you are alone here.
- kinghajj, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9The only advantage that PCs have is that one can look around faster with a mouse. That's it. Thumbsticks are better for movement because *gasp!* you move in 3D! Imagine that, moving in more than just 4 to 8 directions!
Unfortunately for PC-lovers, most (read: all good) console FPSs let the user choose how fast they want to look around. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Sometimes I wonder exactly what I'm missing.
I've played Halo 1 and 2, and while they had great stories, the gameplay style, I thought, was just like any other FPS.
The last time I saw this much hype over an FPS was Metroid Prime (even then, not really FPS, but.. eh, you know what I mean), and Quake 3 before that. Both games were amazingly innovative and spectacular for their time.
I'm not saying Halo series is BAD, it's fun, but when I see this much hype, sometimes I wonder if people see things I don't. Like dead people. I never see dead people.
Is it moreso for the online play as opposed to the single player game itself? - estvir, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6You're on Digg telling people they need to get laid.. the sheer irony may cause the universe to explode.
- Anagrama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Nicely put. Games like Guitar Hero work because it is so much fun watching your friends flail around in person.
Also, I played Oblivion on my 3 year old PC when it came out, and I have to say that the experience was MUCH better on the 360. Sometimes, having a uniform platform to develop on is nice. - skankyBacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You realize you've said "LAWL" 5 times so far, just for this one story?
- NinjaBoy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Except i have thousands of dollars you don't cause i don't have to upgrade my xbox monthly to play new games. Im still a big PC gamer, but i just cant afford to keep upgrading and upgrading.
- CharliesRevenge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Look, if people enjoy a shooter on a console than let them enjoy it.
They certainly aren't forcing YOU to play or not play certain games, don't do it to them. - MaynardJK, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Halo 1 replaced Goldeneye as the best four player split-screen FPS. Better controls or not, you can't do that on your PC.
That is why I loved it anyway. - willemmulder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7not true. PC's are ultimate for FPS, like zekard said. You'll need a good bunch of GPU/CPU power for sure, but it works and looks awesome.
From the consumer-perspective the PC can do what a console can. For the developers however, it's much easier (and probably it has more profit) to program for a console than for a PC, so that gives the console a step ahead in that sense. - grumbel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Look a little closer, Halo had a lot of new ideas or at least ideas that haven't been used all that often before: melee attacks, vehicles, grenade-on-separate button, auto rechargeable shield, limit of two weapons at once and a bunch of other small details. It didn't reinvent the FPS genre, which really no FPS ever did after Wolfenstein3D, but neither was it a run-of-the-mill shooter.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5because you like to suck wiiniis?
- kinghajj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You can't tell what's what in Halo? Maybe you need some glasses.
- MaynardJK, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I'm also a PC gamer, but damn I hate being associated with elitist pricks like you.
Go ahead and lock yourself in your room to play your games. Sometimes I like to actually hang out and drink beer with real life friends IN PERSON. Get over yourself.
I never said it was better than PC games. I explained why it was popular to me and my friends. - jacksons98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4@zekard It's called Marketing and lot's of money. Just kidding. Actually the original Halo was very good for it's time, Halo2 was mediocre, and Halo3 nobody knows, but Microsoft has made it huge. They keep advertising it like it is this Epic series, but I'm with you 1 great game and 1 okay game don't make a great series.
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Disagreed with. Burried.
- smiley2billion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The single player campaign in Battlefield 2 is flippin' awesome as well!
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Disagreed with. Burried.
