- AzzidReign, on 08/25/2008, -7/+123Why does this get ***** dugg under Kotaku?
It's *****: this is Xbox360fanboy.com's scoop, and they won't even get the SEO and credit for it. I'm not blaming Kotaku here (they did put in the link to X360F), but still, Digg, what are you doing here?
Proper link that should be dugg (whether it's true or not):
http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/08/22/rumor-new- ... - kinseyincanada, on 08/24/2008, -13/+69so its going to be cheaper than the Wii, have better graphics, and a lot better library of games, and now waggle instead of button mashing sooooo whats the point of the Wii now?
- RedS0x, on 08/24/2008, -11/+56Great...another motion controller...
- kataztrophy, on 08/24/2008, -8/+46Woohoo, $199!!!!!
- supermanred, on 08/25/2008, -3/+37You just read out the transcript from the designers pitching it to Microsoft executives!
- Megaten, on 08/25/2008, -9/+39Oh, so after you bought your harddrives, *****? Thus making it NOT 199.99 at all? Wow, way to miss my point.
- calebhawk, on 08/25/2008, -7/+35wii dont need another wii
- inajeep, on 08/25/2008, -1/+27I'm was hoping MS was getting away from HDDless consoles.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -6/+31"Because you can't beat perfection."
The Wii is the farthest thing from perfection. - calebhawk, on 08/25/2008, -1/+23peggle is crack
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -3/+21"The wii has the better games"
Aaaaaaaaaahahahaha. No. According to every major review site, including the aggregators, 360's game library is many times better than Wii's. Even PS3's is better than Wii's. - inactive, on 08/25/2008, -12/+28It's about time they brought down console prices.
Consoles seem like such a rip off now. You get far better gaming value playing PC games. The Valve Complete Pack has been as low as $74.95 at certain times of the year, and you get:
Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, Deathmatch Classic, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Ricochet, Half-Life, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life Deathmatch: Source, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, Peggle Extreme
You can play most of these games on low graphics settings on a computer with integrated graphics.
Otherwise for console gaming, I'll stick to my $20 Dreamcast. - inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+15Because one guy knows how to play Digg, and the other doesn't:
http://digg.com/xbox/Rumor_Xbox_360_to_drop_to_199 ...
"Sorry! Tal Siach has decided to keep his shouts private." and he really does have 412 Friends.
Everyone plays Digg these days, and they don't seem to be trying to stop it either. - Wilsomatic, on 08/25/2008, -11/+24The Wii will be used to get the 4 year olds playing games on their non-HD-TVs so you can play the awesome 360 on your Plasma.
- Akaziel, on 08/25/2008, -3/+16Is it just me or does Peggle Extreme just not fit in there?
- johnhummel, on 08/25/2008, -2/+14The $200 doesn't include a hard drive, so the Netflix option won't work.
- Myonosken, on 08/25/2008, -1/+13It does because its ***** Extreme!
- trdrstv, on 08/25/2008, -1/+11The point is that people buying a Wii are shopping for "A Wii", not a "Game Console" much in the same way most people aren't shopping for "an MP3 player", they are shopping for "an iPod". They may walk right by MP3 players that are technically superior goods (more features, better battery life, etc...), even at a lower cost because it isn't what they are shopping for.
If what they want isn't there, they don't ask "What else do you have?" they ask "When will you get them back in stock?" - SSCrow, on 08/25/2008, -0/+10You can get a decent rig,
I've been able to get a solid machine out of Newegg for 325 + 60 dollars (4 gigs of ram).
70-80 more dollars for a 8600 GT (low profile).
But yeah, Consoles still have a higher performance per dollar. - dave122, on 08/25/2008, -4/+13Because you can build a great gaming PC for $299?
- rootnik, on 08/25/2008, -2/+11Everybody is talking more about the motion controller than the price...
The price drop would be huge, especially if it comes before Christmas. If Nintendo doesn't follow with a drop of their own, especially with the current state of the US economy, MS is going to kill them in sales numbers this holiday season. - Intrusionv2, on 08/25/2008, -4/+13Genius my friend, genius.
- IndigoMoss, on 08/25/2008, -0/+9***** Peggle, I swear to ***** God. I actually got the Valve pack as an early birthday present last month, and every second I'm on my laptop, I have to resit the temptation to play it. It's so damn simple, but so damn addictive.
Seriously, if you haven't played Peggle, don't. You'll be fired from your job after loading it up on the company computer and putting more hours into it than WoW. - MediumPimpin, on 08/25/2008, -3/+12$200 isnt much for a new 360, might be good to have one around for another room, backup, ect. Especially with Netflix coming soon.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -2/+10I don't see why Microsoft needs to chase the casual market so hard. All they have to do is slash console prices and make XBL free, that would boost sales of traditional games and XBLA "casual" games as well.
- Inverno, on 08/25/2008, -1/+9Yeah man, my ***** detector is tingling. Price drop, sure. But waggle?
- Elranzer, on 08/25/2008, -17/+24The Wii has Nintendo's first-party support, dominance in all regions, and is missing the RRoD.
- nobody98, on 08/25/2008, -6/+13Why dont the ps3 and xbox leave the motion control to the wii and instead put the money into making better games. I doubt this attempt at clawing at the wii market is going to lead to much.
- eryximachus, on 08/25/2008, -1/+8The Wii has good games?
- fpol3, on 08/25/2008, -7/+14but if you don't get a wii where are you going get the latest 'flap jack maker' or 'sewing' game.
- amitgir, on 08/25/2008, -2/+9How about mkv support?
- tcasey22, on 08/25/2008, -5/+12wii60... more clever that way.
- jaytea90, on 08/25/2008, -3/+10WHO CARES! 199!!!
- Scrappy1850, on 08/25/2008, -0/+7popcap made peggle... but it comes with the O box
- Blandyman, on 08/25/2008, -0/+6Or one, to hack with the iXtreme firmwares and that same one for Live.
- KingFog, on 08/25/2008, -1/+7nmnnotmyname currently, the only hard drives that work 100% with a 360 are the ridiculously over priced Microsoft ones.
I personally haven't heard of any hacks of people putting normal HDD's into it, but I guess it must be possible. - jdbausch, on 08/25/2008, -9/+15really? because when I put a hard drive on mine it appears to do everything that the other versions do, what am I missing?
- M724, on 08/25/2008, -6/+12Until it's officially announced, I'll keep saying it'll never happen.
- Megaten, on 08/24/2008, -13/+19Well, for the Arcade. That's not a real 360...
The lowered price on the Elite though, that's good news if anyone's interested in grabbing a 360 now. - SSCrow, on 08/25/2008, -0/+6Good luck with that.
- Shaflugi, on 08/25/2008, -0/+6I'm kinda sick of sites spreading rumors. If it's just a rumor, why even post it? There's going to be that one idiot that ignores the "rumor" part and goes around telling everybody that it's gonna happen.
- Elranzer, on 08/25/2008, -5/+11It comes as no surprise that Rare is the one developing the motion-controlled demo games. Along with the Mii-like avatars, it seems that Rare is having a feverish case of Nintendo-envy out of irrational contempt for their old parent company.
- Magnolit, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6The translation will not be 1:1, unfortunately.
Suckage. - Myonosken, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6Uh, no, the casual demographic just want a fun console. If they see that the 360 is the same price as the Wii, or cheaper, they'll likely opt for the 360 because its games look prettier.
- Klisk, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6I think Sodade is talking about a REGULAR HDD being hacked onto your Xbox, *not* one of the HDD's actually made for Xbox.
- apena89, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6@ SkippyDoorKnob
You need somewhere to cache the stream to. I don't think 512MB minus game saves minus game updates will equal good streams, good high def streams much less.
PSN FTW!
*runs from the buries* - o0joshua0o, on 08/25/2008, -8/+13Has MS addressed the Red Ring of Death (RRoD) issue yet? If not, I'm still not interested...
- apena89, on 08/25/2008, -0/+5you should be in business marketing.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6I have no clue who has a 360 and doesn't have XBL. I hardly feel like 45 dollars a year for an amazing online setup isn't worth it. Yes free would be nice but I don't think they are losing many people to the fees.
- IndigoMoss, on 08/25/2008, -1/+6I support this. Play any popular Xbox Live game and you'll get a 50% chance to have some pre-pubecent kid call you a ***** noob. Then he'll go on to tell you how he banged your mom after he "pwned" her in Halo.
Way to avoid this, play Street Fighter II and Bomberman. Since neither have blood or "leet" graphics, then you'll usually find more mature, old-school gamers who aren't total dickfaces. -
