- Twinklybird, on 02/12/2008, -0/+7This is incredible, I actually noticed this earlier today on YouTube but I didn't know that while most videos did get updated view counts, ALL Scientology videos just remained frozen for more than 48 hours... I mean wtf, this is just blatantly obvious.
- TaniaDerveaux, on 02/12/2008, -0/+6It's as I feared, this story had the most diggs-per-minute (except for one Apple TV story) in the past few hours and at +60diggs now it should have easily been popularized. Instead, it simply got *removed* from the Upcoming Stories and apparantly has no ability of becoming popularized anymore. Why this is happening, I leave up to the readers to decide. You can Stumble this url http://ipower.movielol.org/youtube-anon.php and you can reddit it at http://reddit.com/info/68izv/comments/ . Hopefully somehow this story will get some exposure...
So much for Digg... - phreshone1, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5To whom it may concern,
Over the past 48 hours we have observed a disturbing trend on youtube. Videos have been flooding in from thousands of users who were involved in the worldwide protests against the Church of Scientology on February 10, 2008. The view counts (and perhaps other aspects) of these videos are currently and have been being suppressed in an apparent effort to keep them off of front pages and out of the eyes of the public at large. Being that youtube is a google-owned website and google’s well known old slogan of “do no evil” along with their stated corporate philosophies, I find this extremely disturbing and cannot help but wonder who is pulling the strings behind the curtains at youtube.
I urge you to look into this and identify those who are restricting the flow of information on your sites. The culprits’ motives should be questioned and these people must be held accountable for what they have done.
Many of us, the public, have been documenting this phenomenon. Although a database flaw will likely be cited as the reason behind the tiny view counts in question, concrete statistical evidence of the above claims of abuse have been gathered. I urge your immediate action as this injustice will be exposed regardless of your actions. I’m giving you an opportunity to save face here and I urge you take it.
Sincerely,
Anonymous

http://youtube.com/watch?v=0ShtLvrReMI - TaniaDerveaux, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4I'm afraid that manipulating it so that the world thinks the videos weren't popular at all is actually more criminal than just saying "we prefer not to host that".
- nitro2k01, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4I've noticed this too. First I thought it was just a random glitch, but apparently not.
- TaniaDerveaux, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3For some reason this story is now removed from Upcoming Stories so I guess it won't be going anywhere... Shout it to friends if you think it's important.
- Zlimer, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Didnt think youtube would do something this gay
- Bazwalt, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2"If you're banning that, band these cam whore idiots too. I hope they never get to live off it." You sir..are an idiot! One day you will have something you wanna show everyone on the internet and it will no longer be seen or popular by viewer choice. It will be big companies like Youtube (Youtube is owned by Google) who will stop you and others from owning popular content. This is disgusting Youtube...you should be ashamed.
- netneutrality, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Exactly. It was dishonest and manipulative of YouTube. They could have respectfully declined to host them. But instead they lied and faked the numbers.
The only comfort is it was so *bloody obvious*. Maybe they wanted people to notice. - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1One of my videos is frozen while the other is fine. Weird.
- Kommandomom, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1OK I am all for voicing out against any kind of censorship but why the skin shot?Like some other Digg members these idiots took up too much of my time already

- antivibe, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1all of this will cause new avenues to open up- wheres 'newtube'? im waiting....
- toopuu, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1How about changing Anon video service provider to Google video..?
Oops, I'll get me coat.. - biss13, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Mission Impossible 4?
- scrimaxinc, on 02/13/2008, -1/+2The digg algorithm MAY be arguable, but how is it ok for youtube to selectively freeze the viewcounts of Scientology-related videos? seems like a pretty simple equation to me
- poptarts, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1ATHENE!!!! best paladin in the world!!
- Pendragn, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1So is the cake!
- binaryloop, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1The guy above has a great letter template that you can use. Send it to: security@google.com and report it as a hacking incident. Tell them that you think YouTube got hacked because the numbers are mysteriously changing.
- BillyNeverDies, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1so digg is saying that I just hit the 200 digg point. That DOES seem low...
- nooreazy, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1Digg i have been a member for 2 years, i come here because users choose what goes on the front page. Its what made this site great unlike /. but now....you are leaning toward this /. like digg
:'( - andrewcsayer, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1We all know Digg has moderators who filter content, otherwise there would be 7 different Super Bowl winner stories in 2 hours of full time on the front page. Can't let that happen.
- socokoolaid, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1I got here from a post on reddit, which claimed this digg article was 'removed from the upcoming stories'. ( http://ipower.movielol.org/digg.php )
Although I kinda doubt that, and have no clue if the censorship of those YouTubes are true, their view counts do seem extremely low. I'll give it a digg for awareness of the possibility. - scogostology, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0Reply To EdymionSpring:
You sound like an idiot who has not taken his/her bipolar medication. What happened? Did you run out? If yes, then go back to your shrink to renew it. We have no time to respond to a retarded idiot like you. Your reply will be here forever for the whole world to read and see how ignorant and moronic you are. We wonder what is inside your brain? Cheese? Obviously you are unable to think because you are retarded. That is why you resort to attacking others. You are entitled to your idiotic opinion eventhough it is a stinko. By the way, your ideas stink as much as your body. You are stinking up the world. Go take a bath with some bleach, may that will help reduce your terrible rotten egg odor. - scogostology, on 03/01/2008, -0/+0Scientology is not as evil as Christianity so it must be allowed to continue helping anyone who needs its services and can afford them. My beef with it is the science fiction component of it and the exorbitant prices for its endless programs. It is true that it had some bad baggages from its past activities, but before you continue attacking it, check out the histories of Hinduism, Judaism, and Christianity. They are drenched in blood. The Hindus created a caste system that effectively enslaved more than 200 million Indians who are the native owners of India, slaughtered millions of Buddhists, burned their temples and drove them out of India. Christianity did the same: it murdered millions of pagans, Jews and those who disagreed with its fictional and childish stories in Old and New testament that they have been peddling to the world for 2000 yrs. Judaism has a worldwide conspiracy against all non Jews and is ultra racist. It is strange how those who live in glass houses are always the first to start throwing stones. The world has gone completely mad. Any day it could be blown to smithereens by nuclear conflagration due to all this none sense and that would mean the sad end of our modern civilization scogostology-spiritology, scogostology.com
- EdymionSpring, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0Oh wow. Scogostology, you have got to be the most unintellectual person I have ever seen. Yes, Christianity, Hinduism, and Judaism are filled with blood shed...along with almost every other religion that is around today. Want to know why? It's because of the times. Scientology was made up, created from scratch. How do I know? How does anyone know? Because the creator admitted that he did. In fact before Scientology was super public he said, and I quote, "The best way to make money is to start a religion." Instead of bloodshed there are protests, news coverage, and the blabbering flamers on the Internet. If the times we live in were different and we lived like they did back when most religion came into the world, then there would be murder, war, slaughter.
And if you want to only blame three major religions, then I pity your ignorance. I'm only 17 and already I can understand the world around me at a level far greater than yours. Christians used to be burned alive by Greeks and Romans who believed that there 'ideas' would lead to the nations failure and that they were upsetting the gods. Fire tears through a city, blame the Christians. River floods farm, blame the Christians. My child got attacked by a wild beast, blame the Christian who lives next to me. Or here better yet, WWII ; the Holocaust. Not for religious means but because of their soul beliefs and what they were deemed of, the Jews were massacred, a mass genocide.
Another thing...the Indians in the caste system were Hindus themselves! are you kidding me? it was a national belief and they thought they were being punished for a past life if they ended up low class. but likewise their beliefs told the slaves that in the next life they would be free. Us Americans bought slaves from Africans (yes that's right, Africans gave us other Africans as slaves), we didn't give them hope or a chance for freedom until after a civil war. So I tell you this, you are a foolish person and don't know a thing about what you're talking about. If you want to call the Bible, Qoran, or the Tanakh by calling any of them fictional, then you are one messed up person. In fact the only thing I will defend to death is that there is a god as represented the same way in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Jesus, Muhammad, and Abraham all existed in historical documents. The only argument is who was what. Now I take my leave, I'm sick of this idiot. - nepawoods, on 02/12/2008, -3/+2Digg and YouTube have algorithms. I don't know the specifics of digg's algorithm, but I do know that it was discussed way back that changes would be made so that, for any given story, votes would weigh less if they were from group of individuals who in the past commonly voted in a pattern that appeared to be that of an organized group.
You guys crying censorship - that's ironic. Anonymous organized DDoS attacks against scientology sites to stop them from getting their message out (ridiculous and even evil as their message may be, whatever it is). Then, when privately owned sites use an algorithm to prevent organized manipulation of things to the front page, you cry censorship. And I'll get dugg down like no one ever does by that same organized manipulation (though maybe not so much toward the middle of a school week), but it doesn't matter, because you guys have obliterated the meaning of diggs up or down with your flock-of-sheep patterns of digging. Digg me way the ***** down, but will just one of you say, intelligently, why I'm wrong?
Digg has seen days where the front page has been nothing but scientology related stuff. This one story doesn't get their, and you start shreiking censorship. Scientology is a DROP IN THE OCEAN of all that is wrong in this world. We got it. Scientology Bad. Can we move on? - Darkdjordje, on 02/12/2008, -3/+1There was an anti-Scientology event you say? I suppose that is a big deal... Problem is, I didn't hear anything about it in my country on the news, didn't see any news on the Internet... I guess it really was covered up really well then...
- danielcmetz, on 02/12/2008, -4/+1this is pretty bad, but at least they aren't removing the videos.
- Savernake, on 02/12/2008, -7/+0If you're banning that, band these cam whore idiots too. I hope they never get to live off it.
