- Tiak, on 12/31/2008, -10/+62It's sort of hard to accomplish much with a keyboard when you only have electricity for a few hours on a good day.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -52/+102And why would they need to win the 'info war'? Why do they need to 'dominate the blogosphere'?
If what they are doing is intrinsically right, there would be no need to influence anything. Logic would prove them justified.
Anyone involved in this promotional ***** propaganda war is guilty by proxy to the murder of innocent Palestinians. - richmomz, on 12/31/2008, -16/+61They left out one of the biggest info war weapons of all - Megaphone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megaphone_desktop_too ...
- Dazer, on 12/31/2008, -5/+39Tiak, I think you mean a VERY good day. Most days they don't get any. Especially since Israel has been blocking supplies, although to be fair, they've recently agreed to let supplies enter Gaza:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/28/world/middleeast ... - wefarrell, on 12/31/2008, -23/+50I'm sure the government of Israel has a hand in EVERY web 2.0 site like delicious, wikipedia and especially digg. We've seen manipulation from companies, political groups, etc... You can bet Israel is trying to sway public opinion with digg.
- Synapsid, on 12/31/2008, -12/+37Propaganda.
- JeremyGrieves, on 12/31/2008, -2/+15I heard someone mention this but didn't believe it was real.
- urik88, on 12/31/2008, -1/+14I never used it enough to know much. I installed it once but after having it bothering me I deleted it after 10 minutes. But apparently, bad stories, unstable, bad overall. You're welcome to try it yourself. It's as simple as a firefox extension.
http://www.giyus.org/ - whazdown, on 12/31/2008, -1/+13''We hav 2 prtct R ctzens 2, only way fwd through neogtiations, & left Gaza in 05. y Hamas launch missiles not peace?''
That's pretty bizarre. - PGPirate, on 12/31/2008, -3/+15War 2.0?
- urik88, on 12/31/2008, -4/+16Actually, Megaphone is really crappy. A Zionist of digg (foopirata) asked one of the guys constantly talking about it to try it and see how it really is.
The guy's conclusion was that it was SO crappy, that it was a Zionist diversion tool, and the real megaphone was distributed only between Zionists. - TTURabble, on 12/31/2008, -13/+24Israel has to do this in retaliation of the propaganda perpetuated by their enemies. Let us not forget all the manipulation of images and "victimized" accounts edited (and in some cases, completely fabricated) during the Lebanese conflict.
Hamas and their cohorts are pulling the same kind of crap that Scientology uses against their victims, mainly, goad your enemy into attacking and then cry foul when they do. Hamas is picking a fight and then running away to the world stage to play the victim. - Tanktunker, on 12/31/2008, -14/+25People have different opinions, if the Hamas is allowed their propaganda, why isn't Israel allowed theirs?
- Steeple, on 12/31/2008, -7/+17you don't have to be pro Palestinian to be anti *****
- Lockean, on 12/31/2008, -4/+14Monarch; Palestine is not a neighboring country. It is a disenfranchised fraction of the same country. They can't 'move away from the warzone' you goddam moron. Learn something about the situation before you comment on it, regardless of which side you support, douche.
- Flyman360, on 12/31/2008, -14/+24Finger pointing is fueling the violence and risking this war to escalate.
It appears that Israel is not going to stop at this point until Hamas is destroyed. If Hamas would remove “Destroy Israel” from its charter, they could effectively save lives. Instead they are gathering international sympathy for their cause. - BrandonJM, on 12/31/2008, -42/+51This is amazing on a couple of levels. Why did I Digg it?
1) Israel is using tools to communicate with a global audience, we can barely get our Governors to Twitter or use Youtube.
2) It shows you the digital divide between the two sides. I keep wishing some day the Palestinians would understand there's more to gain with keyboards and mice than sticks and dynamite. When that day comes, I hope anyway, this BS between the two sides would stop. - Jerky1312, on 12/31/2008, -11/+20Block out foreign reporters from reporting the scene in Gaza and flood online media with your own biased information. Very clever.
- outoforder, on 12/31/2008, -3/+12Logic doesn't justify itself. People will always have to make arguments to justify their actions. You can't just sit back and let "logic prove itself". You don't understand this?
- punkorambo, on 12/31/2008, -23/+32Because the Palestinians have already conquered the mainstream media with their propaganda and false claims. Just like Hezbollah in the Lebanon war.
- mshtml, on 12/31/2008, -15/+24Gaza is cut off from the rest of the world and lacks the internet access we take for granted. The people are being starved to death and lack basic medical supplies. When they fight back with crude rockets they are called terrorists and have F16s drop thousand pound bombs on their homes and schools.
- urik88, on 12/31/2008, -1/+9Could be. Although I did all my highschool years in Israel, and I only heard about it in the internet.
- MrXfromPlanetX, on 12/31/2008, -10/+18The CBC Video Israel doesn't want people to see.
Clearly documented human rights violations. This is clearly hypocritical Nazi like behavior.

One Jewish solder says "I don't know what we're doing here. Purification maybe. It's dirty here. I don't know why a good Hebrew boy should be so far from his home." - richbleak, on 12/31/2008, -3/+11Monarch: If you represent the opposition to my point, I thank you for proving me right.
By the way, your justification for attacking Mexico in your scenario is the same justification that radical muslims use when they attack civilians. Your thought process is what is wrong with this world. Every time Israel carelessly bombs the Palestinians, they create a thousand more radicals ready to blow themselves up for revenge. The western world (and Israel by extension) has two options: 1. Commit genocide and kill every single Muslim in the middle east or 2. Be the "bigger" and more advanced culture and attack this issue with something other than mindless killing. We try to solve the problem with some strange hybrid of these two options and just continually make the problem worse.
Here is a scenario for you. What would you do if China swept in, bombed the ***** out of the USA, toppled our government and dictated how or when we could govern ourselves. Every person who had a loved one killed would immediately do whatever they could to strike back. At what point would we simply give up and say "Do what you want with us, we don't want any trouble."? When would we respond with the deaths of our family and friends with "Sorry some of my neighbors gave you a hard time, I deserved to have my innocent family destroyed in a bomb"? Put yourself in the shoes of someone on the other side of those bombs who wants nothing more than to live their life. It isn't as though every single person in Gaza has a mortar firing setup on their roof. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -7/+15Killing foreign occupiers isn't a war crime. What you say would be true if the land wasn't stolen.
- foopirata, on 12/31/2008, -5/+13I am still trying to get you to explain me one simple thing: if there are hundreds of thousands of megaphone users out there, how come they are not reflected on Digg? How come there aren't hundreds of thousands, or even hundreds,or even dozens of "ups" in pro-Israel articles?
You fail at reality check. - Andyschism, on 12/31/2008, -2/+10Sorry I just got off of work. You were what? Digging?
- facelesscoward, on 12/31/2008, -0/+8You mean Hamas, roight? Hezbollah is a militant group as well, but AFAIK, they're not Palestinian.
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -3/+10God damn it!
You are so ***** stupid.
MEGAPHONE IS A ***** RSS AGGREGATOR.
I installed it once because you anti-semitic bastards kept accusing me of using it.
IT SUCKS.
IT DOES NOT LINK TO DIGG ARTICLES AT ALL AND UPDATES ONLY ONCE OR TWICE A DAY.
SHUT. THE. *****. UP. You're an ignorant piece of *****. - sn4ke666, on 12/31/2008, -23/+30Because ignorant and hateful people are easily brainwashed by popular conspiracy theory and rascism-laden propaganda released by Pallywood and their left and right wing sympathizers in the West. And unfortunately, in this world, what the ignorant think often matters.
- Gutterpunk, on 12/31/2008, -10/+171) Your governors using twitter is not the same as Isreal using anonymous "pro-Isreal" shills to promote their agenda.
2) Everytime you see someone taking the Palestinians' side, they get called trolls by people who "understand" everything there is to understand about the middle east. Those "experts" are what they mean by "Isreal want to dominate the blogosphere", not that the State of Isreal has a team of official posters. - StinkyJoe, on 12/31/2008, -3/+9This is one ***** I'm staying out of.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -6/+12Pretty much.
And since you can delete comments to your posts on YouTube, they'll just get rid of all the critical ones and boast about how "Everyone agrees with them" - foopirata, on 01/01/2009, -3/+9DrDreyfus, don't let the poor kid get under your skin. He lives in a totally different reality. If what he says is proven to be wrong, he ignores it and goes to say the same somewhere else. If what he says is challenged, he ignores the challenge.
Just laugh at him and move on, it's what the rest of us does. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -4/+10"Mexico isn't occupied illegally by the U.S, Mexico isn't starved by the U.S, the U.S don't have illegal settlements and checkpoints in Mexico, put some context and you'll get why it's different"
Neither is Israel occupying Gaza, they are blocking their borders.
They tried peace and gave them autonomy in 2005 when they pulled settlers out of Gaza kicking and screaming and gave it to Palestinians. And Palestinians in turn began launching rockets into Israel within 1 year.
The USA, would not wait 3-4 days before retaliating, that is for sure!!! - MisterChirish, on 12/31/2008, -2/+8Yes, because food, water, and medical supplies are certainly things that should be denied any group of people, especially in times of 'war'.
How humanitarian the overlords are being in their time of 'self defense'...
/sarcasm - ngresonance, on 12/31/2008, -4/+10Your spelling is horrible.
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -4/+10@richmomz - The article from the Jerusalem Post is from 28 Nov., 2006. If Megaphone was really "... one of the biggest info war weapons of all ..." you would have more than 11 thumbs down from something you posted earlier. You are grasping at straws. Here is the secret of our abilities to communicate (I may get expelled from the Elders of Zion for telling you this, but here goes anyway): at a certain time each day, we all face Jerusalem and bow our heads so that our horns are parallel to the ground. Secret waves go out to all of us in which receive our orders of the day. Then, we retract our horns and seemingly go about our business, all the while plotting our overthrow of the world and our domination. Don't worry about people on Digg. Worry about your tailor, your accountant and, especially, the old lady you see at the bus stop.
By the way, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are true. I know, because I am a member of standing:
http://digg.com/music/Protocols_of_The_Elders_of_Z ... - celotil, on 01/01/2009, -1/+7Dominate the blogosphere?
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! - inactive, on 01/01/2009, -3/+9@richmomz - actually, you are ridiculously wrong in this great anti-Megaphone crusade you are on. No one asked you to "write an essay" about it.
From the Register article you linked to: " Megaphone has no registration or identity check, so nothing would stop those opposed to Israel downloading Megaphone and using its alerts to voice opinions against its activities, however. Inevitably, a hacked version already exists which replaces Israeli flags with Palestinian ones and alters some of the text." Some "propaganda tool" some way to have "successfully skewed online opinion polls."
You have still only been dugg down 12 times. As foopirata asked you (repeatedly): How come there aren't hundreds of thousands, or even hundreds,or even dozens of "ups" in pro-Israel articles?
Try again, rich. - inactive, on 01/01/2009, -2/+7@DrDreyfus - so, tell me, how do you really feel? Happy New Year! Enjoy the comedy value of that one.
- londonjewess, on 01/01/2009, -0/+5Hamas has close links with Al Queda. Israel has every right to wage her own WAR ON TERROR.
For eight years she has done nothing while Israeli civilians - of all faiths - have been massacred. Now she is trying desperately to target the Hamas members that the Palestinians themselves voted for in free elections! What would you have Israel do - just send over a nice big bowl of kosher chicken soup to the terrorists???
Unlike any other nation, Israel WARNS targets BEFORE hitting them. If innocents are dying it's purely because Hamas uses them as human shields! So direct your anger where it belongs - AT HAMAS. - STIRGE, on 12/31/2008, -11/+16I was going to write the same thing. Minutes, and I'm serious it was minutes after the bombings were reported, youtube was mobbed by videos of the Palestinians in suffering. First and most obvious, stop shooting rockets over the boarder. Second and only slightly less obvious, if you aren't the one shooting them, move away from those who are and go live in peace.
Hezbollah are terrorists, they don't give a crap about anyone but themselves and their followers, we have no reason to sympathize with them. I just feel sorry for the innocents who are being injured as a result of an extremely passive aggressive 30 year war, however and once again easily stated, move out of those boarder towns, you are asking to get your face bombed off. - IneedaSN, on 12/31/2008, -4/+9although I think that there is some truth to what you said, i cant help but look at your screen name and think you might be a bit biased
- kernel16, on 12/31/2008, -1/+6Why would you want your government to use Youtube or of all things Twitter? I don't see how this would make anything more efficient, especially when both are owned by private groups.
- hadees, on 01/01/2009, -4/+9The unfortunate truth is Megaphone is a glorified RSS reader and it doesn't even work very well but boy do some crazy people hate it. It is essentially no different the Electronic Intifada's RSS feed or Digg Shouts.
- richmomz, on 01/01/2009, -2/+7How about we just have objective journalism instead of propaganda period?
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -4/+9@rich (if I may be so bold as to call you rich) - No, this isn't quite a 'bloody hornets nest'. Don't be suck a prima donna drama queen.
Just what do you find objectionable about Megaphone anyway? That people with an interest in defense of Israel get electronic heads-ups? So? It's not as if it is this huge secret, is it? From what you've seen, it isn't all that wonderful, and I have heard that it doesn't even work with Digg. All you are doing is calling attention to it?
You've been dugg down 12 times on the comment at the top of this page? Do you think that this is tremendously effective in silencing opposition to Israel?
Why don't you try it and blow the covers off this great cyber-scandal with the secret knowledge you obtain? - DreadPirate, on 01/01/2009, -3/+8Richmomz - you don't need to write an essay, but I do challenge you to answer Foopirata's question. If Megaphone is such a wonderful tool, why do your posts only get a few buries? You have yet to even face that question - is it too tough for you, or are you just too much of a coward?
- Pillage, on 12/31/2008, -8/+13But it was ok for Reuters to doctor photographs in an attempt to justify Lebanon?
