- Narcism, on 04/27/2009, -4/+30Quit hogging all the good puns!
- budboomer, on 04/27/2009, -5/+29This is getting ridiculous.
Everybody calm down. - xsecretfiles, on 04/27/2009, -3/+25I'm ready to combat this virus.
Got a shotgun, 60 shells. A Bazooka, Couple of mixed herbs. I should be good to go. I need a partner though.... - OdinThor, on 04/27/2009, -6/+23Population control.
- drmangrum, on 04/27/2009, -2/+18Is that a Pandemic 2 reference? :)
- rocke86, on 04/27/2009, -2/+17I prefer to panic!
- MacEnvy, on 04/27/2009, -1/+15This isn't a "supervirus", and it has nothing to do with antibiotic resistance. Your sentiment regarding overuse of antibiotics is admirable but Influenza-A H1N1 is completely unrelated to it.
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -2/+16Possibly. It can trigger a cytokine storm in people with strong immune systems - which pretty much means that your immune system will work against you. So it's not something that may only potentially kill old people, it can be pretty bad if ignored.
Though, no one in the US has died from it at this point.
We'll know for sure how much it's spreading by the end of the week - if it's extensive enough the WHO can call it a pandemic and people will freak out. Just be weary of any flu like symptoms and if they progress see a doctor, I don't think it's anything to worry about at the moment. - inactive, on 04/27/2009, -1/+14You're actually a bit off - this specific strain is worse for people aged 25-45 because it can trigger a cytokine storm, which basically means your immune system starts working against you.
So while you are mostly right - people should still be slightly cautious if they develop any flu-like symptoms. - Birukun, on 04/27/2009, -2/+15Avian / Swine Flu combo?
Pigs are flying! Take cover! - inactive, on 04/27/2009, -2/+15I don't see how overmedication has anything to do with this one. It's a flu virus. You don't treat the flu with antibiotics.
- kakwakas, on 04/27/2009, -1/+14Of course. Canada is the US's hat. It goes where we go and catches what we catch. :]
- pilgrim3970, on 04/27/2009, -2/+15You pig.
- robersz, on 04/27/2009, -3/+15It's not the same flu that mutates every year. Get your facts straight. It's a new virus. It incapacitates people, gives muscular pains, it can cause death if untreated.
While it is treatable it should not be taken lightly - Elohir, on 04/27/2009, -2/+14air⋅borne

1. carried by the air, as pollen or dust. - Elohir, on 04/27/2009, -3/+15"The reason we have these super virus type issues is because people keep on OVER taking medicines"
Oh, really? Like the almost identical 'super virus' in 1918 that killed 20+ million people? What overused meds were responsible for that? - serif69, on 04/27/2009, -1/+13Too late. It's reached "forced meme" status already IMO.
- akula89, on 04/27/2009, -1/+13that pun is sow predictable
- lhbaker, on 04/27/2009, -1/+13So it's a conspiracy of all health agencies in the world, many of which are socialized, to sell vaccines. Gotcha.
- eatinshramps, on 04/27/2009, -6/+17Cant wait until the price of bacon goes down..
- timster, on 04/27/2009, -2/+13Have fun. The virus can't be spread through properly cooked pork.
- FakeHipster, on 04/27/2009, -2/+12Swear to god this is the start of "I am Legend". I've been casing the house on Washington Square Park just in case.
- mikbunn, on 04/27/2009, -0/+10I'm pretty sure that swine flu will purge the scattered remnants of our species from the planet. After the global SARS and Avian Flu pandemics ravaged our populations, we simply don't have the numbers to weather this storm.
- timster, on 04/27/2009, -1/+10You're such an insensitive pig. This flu virus has the potential to be very serious.
- max420, on 04/27/2009, -2/+11This is indeed ***** up. I live in Vancouver.
If more cases start cropping up, I am going to start working from home, as well as wear a mask everywhere I go.
I don't want none of this swine flu *****. - daveyWSS, on 04/27/2009, -4/+13...*****,man.
- serif69, on 04/27/2009, -2/+11Boy, you sure shoat us.
- borez, on 04/27/2009, -2/+11Agreed. Another day, another scare.
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -0/+8This isn't a supervirus, and while you're not entirely wrong in general - you're way off in this specific instance.
- shutaro, on 04/27/2009, -2/+10We're all gonna be dead by the end of the summer.
- sndream, on 04/27/2009, -3/+11Ok, everyone prepare for the imminent zombie outbreak. Start stock piling, water, food, guns and ammunition.
- eazydawg, on 04/27/2009, -2/+10Swine Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest
- thebeast68, on 04/27/2009, -3/+11Except that this is killing young, otherwise healthy individuals.
- AmusedToDeath, on 04/27/2009, -1/+8If Canada is our hat, does that make Mexico our...pants?
- dirtmonkey, on 04/27/2009, -3/+10Oh no! Swine flu has infected Digg! The flu stories are everywhere!
- mindsnare, on 04/27/2009, -0/+7Not sure why you're getting dugg down you're right on the money. I was listening to ABC (Aust, like BBC) radio today and the scientist they were interviewing said the same thing. People between 20 and 30 are very susceptible.
- Smokeydabear, on 04/27/2009, -0/+7Should people actually be afraid of this?
- Flatlineskillz, on 04/27/2009, -0/+7Im game I have an AR-15 and some liquor
- tolmarc, on 04/27/2009, -0/+7Isn't it a bit late to stop the virus? what can be done now when it's already out there. On the other hand, there where the SARS panic a few years ago, and eventually it didn't caused much damage as expected.

- pathouston22, on 04/27/2009, -0/+6I have 2 chainsaws. Its the Swine Apocalypse.
- Shidell, on 04/27/2009, -9/+14It's just the Flu.
Big deal. See it now, see it again in November.
P.S. The sky is falling! - budboomer, on 04/27/2009, -4/+9This story will be gone in a week. Maybe less.
- borez, on 04/27/2009, -2/+7No. 4000 people died last year in the UK alone from flu. This is being blown out of all proportion.
