LOL first it was rap and video games corrupting our youth... now we can't trust maps either! - kufu91, on 10/10/2007, -0/+93""no age" - illegal for everyone?"
thats exactly what it means - nuclearpenguins, on 10/10/2007, -4/+81Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
- dallascorbin504, on 10/10/2007, -3/+77why is it 21 in the U.S. again?
- pivovy, on 10/10/2007, -14/+83What's the difference between "No age" and "Any age" ?
"no age" - illegal for everyone? - MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -10/+68Half the world says 18. Why cant we follow?
We can die for our country, smoke, get thrown in real PMITA prison and do other *****, but we cannot drink at 18. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+59They can still drink quietly?
- Bigbro69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+50Underage drinking isn't enforced in Australia either, really. I started drinking at 13, and I'm 16 now. I currently also have a penis drawn on my face...
- treelover, on 10/10/2007, -1/+48yeah, but it's 18 for spirits which the map clearly says below
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+48It's amazing how the drinking age here in the U.S. really means *****. Just about every high school senior drinks, even a lot of people 16 and up drink.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+45The real question is why is half of Canada 19?
- SamyIsMyHero, on 10/10/2007, -7/+44Yes, Canada go and pick nineteen, becuase your special like that.
- LopsidedZebra, on 10/10/2007, -19/+55Germany is 16 years old to drink, inaccurate.
- nectom, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31In America if your enlisted to the armed forces you can drink on base no matter your age.
- ashoichet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26""no age" - illegal for everyone?"
It's Saudi Arabia and Iran. Take a wild guess. - davidhildreth, on 10/10/2007, -8/+33because us american's can't figure out how to take taxis
- jimonastick, on 10/10/2007, -8/+33ummmm....our government isn't exactly the brightest bunch (then and now, especially so now....)
- Wildren, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27And the US pick 21 because they think they're cool and talk ***** about Canada who picked 19. Egypt, Oman and Qatar don't count.
- Anthem26, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26man, does that mean i have to vote sober until i turn 21?!?
- Y0tsuya, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27I'm trying to figure out which country you're referring to. India?
- Wildren, on 10/10/2007, -26/+45Because a 21 year old American kid is just as mature as an 18 year old Canadian. In other words, American kids are dumb. No seriously, US kids are less mature because people in the US are less open about drinking and sexuality than in France or Italy.
- SirNoobius, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22there are no rules in the middle east. I used to go to the store and buy beer for my dad when i was 6 years old.
- adiman7, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21It doesn't, but the ability to control and understand them shows a part of your maturity.
- DustinR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17I think its mostly because all the 18-20 year olds are complaining about it and then they turn 21 and they get so wasted they could care less.
- LNahid2000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16The amount of red on this map looks like the amount of red that was on the countries who have not switched to metric map.
- dpknc84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Quick, someone overlay the age of consent map on top of this.
- *jooloop*, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Except you have to be 18 to drive in France, so you can drink before you can drive.
- fearlessfx, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18That still isn't enough to make Quebec cool.
- davidrools, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17you've tried camel piss too?
- DoobieWheel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Yay! Go India! Home of the Free & Sober!
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -11/+23The free-est country in the world has the highest drinking age, go figure.
- Breepee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Here in the Netherlands it gets worse. 13-15 year olds is a common age to start.
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Are you blind? The stricter places such as Saudi Arabia and Iran are clearly marked as illegal for all ages.
- andy3109, on 10/10/2007, -20/+31Digg me the ***** down.
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Although the minimum age for consumption and or / purchase of alcohol is 18 in israel, there is no punishment for underage drinking, only for vendors selling alcohol to minors.
//From wikipedia - Audacitor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10True that. Why does our government think we should be able to vote for our president before we can drink beer?
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Well, considering he wrote his questions in English... I'd have to say yeah, he does.
- TheNik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Because the federal government will withhold precious highway funding if a states drinking age is less than 21.
- Tonamel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Because they don't want people drinking until they're ready to graduate from college (for the sake of their education, you see?)
This plan has obviously worked. - pipedreambomb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8America seems to buy into its own hype that it has the most freedom, as if there isn't free speech and democracy in the rest of world. However, as well as its violations of human rights and spying on its own citizens in recent years, it has much stricter drug, alcohol, gay marriage, imprisonment and execution policies than other supposedly less free nations.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12So I can't get a drink in India.
- Breepee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8And did it help? I wonder why in the rest of the world 18 seems to work.
- Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12Maybe if they'd stop charging $20 to go a couple of blocks.
- TygerrTygerr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The United States is just generally a conservative place. It's not a remnant of the prohibitionist movement, the prohibitionist movement was a result of that.
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Moron, there is no correlation. Read for a second and you'd realize that all the data in that chart in based on only a handful of countries and they used that data to guess for the majority.
- narc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It's all about training.
- pipedreambomb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Not directly before..
- oesj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7actually in a few middle east countries it is illegal to sell to muslims/locals but legal to sell to tourists/non-muslims (making them more attractive destinations to most tourists)
- 9a3eedi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Actually, it indeed doesn't make sense. Alcohol is forbidden amongst Muslims. Why should they give muslims alcohol only, and the non-muslims nothing? Makes no sense at all
- Bamborzled, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The website says this: "Also note that the drinking age in India varies between 18 and 25 depending on the state". Plus, those are the LEGAL drinking ages (read: in the law books). Doesn't mean that they're actually enforced.
