- Trekhawk, on 12/01/2008, -8/+201There are going to be a lot of lesbians in Papua New Guinea in 16 years or so.
- SpectralSounds, on 12/01/2008, -1/+147I think you mean "wocka, wocka, wocka".
That is, unless you meant you were going to a Chocolate Factory in 20 years. - d2002, on 12/01/2008, -14/+158Or they can just make their boys watch Gossip Girls.
- Gnar04, on 12/01/2008, -8/+123there cant be a war with no one to fight it. makes sense.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -39/+152So they are killing children to stop killing? Logic escapes these people.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -9/+106Do they really think that warlords will not start recruiting girls to carry the guns then?
- aftern9ne, on 12/01/2008, -6/+93Also an end to hot babes. Not worth it.
- neozion, on 12/01/2008, -1/+74" one particular fight continues after starting in 1986 over sorcery claims."
nice, 22 year old war about sorcery. and they say civilisation sucks - uhmlol, on 12/01/2008, -3/+691) kill babies
2) ???
3) end war - Thinkerofthings, on 12/01/2008, -47/+112If guys were to do that to female babies, just think there would be an end to all the senseless bitching that's gone on for centuries
- arcticblue, on 12/01/2008, -0/+51I think you need to be paying attention in class.
- Vindexus, on 12/01/2008, -1/+49Did he then send you to live your Auntie and Uncle in Bel-Air?
- Mullinator, on 12/01/2008, -0/+47It isn't warlords that are commiting the violence. This is a tribal society that lacks chieftains, no one does any recruiting or commanding. The men in these societies decide to fight themselves.
- maleficdog, on 12/01/2008, -1/+47In such primal tribes, there is no such thing as a woman warrior. War are only fought by men, women stays home and take care of the childrens.
- carbonetc, on 12/01/2008, -3/+46Fighting crazy with crazier. It might work.
- Thinkerofthings, on 12/01/2008, -7/+48I know where I'll be in 20 years or so...
wonka... wonka... wonka... - schrutefan, on 12/01/2008, -3/+38Shouldn't they kill the men instead? Then raise their sons better.
- Honeyblade, on 12/01/2008, -8/+40You see that would be funny... except that it's not.
Female babies are killed in many countries. It's just sad. Not really something to joke about. - pinguwin, on 12/01/2008, -1/+30I think we need some perspective here of viewing things from another point of view. I am far from an expert in such matters, but I did spend some time in PNG in remote areas where I was the first outsider to stay in villages. Tribal warfare is a very real threat to many people there and I talked to people about such warfare. It's such a bane to the people there, they will do anything to make it go away and sometimes desperate people do desperate things. I don't approve of the tribal actions, but it's not for me to judge.
Payback is a very real threat there and I was told by a local man that if I were to be in a car where I hit someone not to stop but to drive to a police station and let them take care of it for you. Payback can last for generations and they don't forget easily. People in a valley pointed to the other side of the valley where another tribe lived and told me of things the other tribe had done to wrong them over a hundred years ago and that they were biding their time until they were ready to make them pay.
We might look at them and think it silly to fight over sorcery (which is real to many of them), but they would look at other nations and say, "You fight wars over (oil|minerals|shipping rights|fill in blank)!?" - Kumah, on 12/01/2008, -6/+34Good. Bring back survival of the fittest. Only the most lethal babies will survive.
- wollsmosh, on 12/01/2008, -4/+30It would be pretty nice to be one of the few surviving males in a society like this...
- Suricou, on 12/01/2008, -4/+30Makes sense to me.
They kill babies, in which few resources have been invested. Babies are comparatively cheap. In doing so, they end a war which has been a huge drain on resources. Economically, they should get a net gain. - frsrblch, on 12/01/2008, -0/+25I predict that our supply of jailbait would dry up after only 16 years.
- skipdog172, on 12/01/2008, -7/+31who cares when it was submitted??? this was the article that became popular first. im so tired of seeing these comments in every story but apparently digg just LOVES reading them!
- deadapostle, on 12/01/2008, -2/+25There's a chance that this action will stop the war, but if the women would kill ALL the babies, that would definitely solve it.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+23Remix.

- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+21so you want to live in a sexist hellhole where all the women hate you?
- aftern9ne, on 12/01/2008, -2/+21Won't the men just start raping/killing the women?
- uncleosbert, on 12/01/2008, -0/+18@kirado4
read the article:
"Ms Belas said getting food was hard as husbands kept fighting and mothers and children were left to fend for themselves. " - Elsewhere42, on 12/01/2008, -7/+24I wonder if this would work in the Middle East.
- Claverhouse, on 12/01/2008, -0/+16'Behold, my son, with how little wisdom the world is governed.'

http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/rough/2007/04/th ... - rammsdell, on 12/01/2008, -1/+14Thought it was an Onion story by reading the title, cannot believe it's really happening.
- jaeastman, on 12/01/2008, -4/+17Seriouspost: Don't act like they take this decision lightly, people. Be glad you live somewhere where you don't have to make one like it.
- feignNU, on 12/01/2008, -2/+15Hm...no, they're killing children to stop the war. Killing is one of the horrible consequences of war, but there can be lots and lots of others, so I don't really think it's fair to claim that their desire to end the war stems solely from a desire to end the killing that's going on. Not to mention, lots of tribal cultures engage in somewhat symbolic warfare, so without knowing more about this culture, I couldn't even really speculate as to how often people are even actually killed in the war.
I do agree that it's a little ironic that these women, who are supposedly so fed up with the cycle of revenge violence, would attempt to use violence as a means to stop that cycle, but chances are, the women also don't consider infanticide to be the same thing as the revenge violence that is perpetuating the conflict. My guess is that they see it as something entirely different. It seems far more likely to me that the disconnect lies not in their logical reasoning skills, but in the conceptual lines they draw around various acts of violence.
We probably see infanticide very very differently than they do, is all I'm trying to say. Doesn't make what they're doing right, but it also doesn't make them idiot savages who can't think either. - mccartyba, on 12/02/2008, -1/+13As did I. And I enjoyed it.
- MasterGrief, on 12/01/2008, -0/+12Better than Vault 43... Twenty men, ten women, and one panther.
