- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -3/+65Quick, to the Diggmobile!
- SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -2/+49Idiot me... here's a link with her picture: http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/national/BO55258/
- Dundasbro, on 10/11/2007, -6/+51No offense intended but has Digg ever actually made a difference in any of these situations...?
- bebop717, on 10/11/2007, -7/+47If she is lost on the internet I'm sure we can do something, but if she is outside, she is on her own.
***** that sounded really cold hearted, whatever digg me down. - grendel, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30As soon as I press this digg button, search dogs and rescue team members get a burst of energy equivalent to 3 red bulls each.
Digg can stop the Iraq war. - BeefBaron, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29Bleach kills blood/DNA evidence. Doesnt sound good.
- Cyclonic, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27ya never know who may have seen her accidentally then log on to digg. These people who say the internet cant work are out of their minds. Its another avenue of possibilities so why not use it? Whats the difference between posting here or on a telephone pole? At least here word of mouth spread faster and it gets a wider audience. If my wife went missing i would use telephone poles, police, digg, yahoo, google, reddit, metafilter, posters, friends, family, strangers, hitmen, detectives, fbi, cia, csi, my cat, my dog, my big toe. I dont care what it would take, i would use ANY means necessary to find my wife! Don't knock someone for trying!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -15/+35digg should add an 'Amber Alert' section so things like this dont take a day (or week) to get attention. Just a thought!
- SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -6/+26Wow... good idea. What a way to get word across. From what I've been hearing on the news (I live maybe an hour and a half away), it doesn't sound good. Her child (maybe 2 years old) said something to the effect that 'mommy's in a rug'. Not only that, but a few years back, in a town not too far from this one, a woman killed another woman and cut her baby right out of her and tried to pass it as her own. The police caught up with her 5 days later and before they had a chance to reach her, she shot herself in an upstairs bedroom. The baby was fine, though.
Sad thing, what people will do nowadays. Maybe by some miracle, this woman is still alive.
But, good idea. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23I'll digg, but I can't help It's my bed time.
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22Does this require my stepping away from the computer?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Quick, to my moms minivan!!
- DejectedRobot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17The quote of the child saying "mommy's in the rug" sent chills down my spine. Also bleach is usually used to clean up blood (too much CSI), so far things are looking really bad. Hopefully they find her and her unborn child.
- viperman5000, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19A - "To the Diggmobile!"
B - "What?"
A - "My Buick Century!"
Hopefully someone gets it... - h4mx0r, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17Or new to the internet for that matter.
- Arkonnan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16@effektz
Unfortunately, such a section would likely end up being filled with 'BREAKING!!!' Consumerist articles. :( - Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15We found the killer! Hindu_Wardrobe admitted to burying the parent!
- xJudahx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14You must be new to digg.
- mitrovarr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Actually, I'd say this case is different, for two reasons. First of all, the circumstances of the woman's disappearance are extremely dire. If she's still alive, it's unlikely she will be for long. Secondly, she's pregnant - she needs medical care immediately. The stress alone could complicate the delivery to say nothing of injuries.
- Scumbunny, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11"Mommy's crying ... Mommy's in the rug." Sends chills down my spine just reading it. What you wanna bet if they do catch whomever did this that they plea bargin it just to save the boy from further trauma?
- estvir, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16> maybe Digg can help?
No. Digg couldn't help with the last several 'OMG X IS MISSING' and isn't going to now magically harness the power of the tubes to save this woman.. and stop global warming. - lcarsdeveloper, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9"Nevermind, go back to reading about AppleTV."
Actually I'm a Mediagate MG-350HD fanboi, I don't even own an iPod. Don't assume you know me, because you don't. - STARTSOMETHING, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7after reading this "furniture in disarray and BLEACH poured on the floor"
I don't think she's alive - SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9I see you're from Twinsburg... I'm from Berea. No, it's not looking good at all, especially with what the 2 year old said. I'm not a fan of Fox News, but I've been keeping it on today, due to a couple of breaking news stories. They've been updating this throughout the day. Reminds me so much of Teresa Andrews back in 2000, with her son, Oscar.
If that is the case, who would do such a thing? I've only heard bits and pieces (i'm in the computer room, with the tv being in the bedroom - across the hall). I've also heard mention something about the husband/boyfriend. Also, the thing with the bleach sounds bad - bleach can be used to destroy blood evidence. - xsuite, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I hate to say it but she is dead. The bleach was poured on the floor to annihilate all DNA evidence and bloodstains and hair and whatnot. THe girl, unfortunately is probably dead.
The only explanation is the baby might have found and opened the bleach container and poured it on the floor when the mother waskidnapped.
Eitherway I hope they find the bastard who killed the mother and kill him.
. - Poco, on 10/11/2007, -8/+14How many people are missing in the U.S. right now? Why is she so much more important than everyone else?
I'm not trying to be an ass, but if Digg had a story for every missing person in the world there wouldn't be enough room on the front-page for anti Bush/Religion/Microsoft articles. - DesuKN, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10White Woman In Danger Syndrome: ACTIVATE!
- xJudahx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Only if they don't have evidence. A plea is better than nothing.
He should rot in jail forever. - catfish182, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7This isnt a bad idea but lets be honest, does a member of Digg go outside?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10I hate to say this fellas this isn't a case of a missing persons it's a Murder or kidnapping ....regardless look at the scope of the situation it's sadi to say i think she may very well be dead
Reason 1
Javax had been poured on the bedroom floor ? Carpets and Javax don't mix - me thnks a CSI needs to get in there and do carpet tests for BLOOD !! Bleach might have been used to cover up the scene
Reason 2
pool of bleach on the floor ( see reason 1)and just one witness -- a 2-year-old son who told police, "Mommy's crying ... Mommy's in the rug."
Mommy was crying. Mommy broke the table. Mommy's in the rug."
Reason 3
In 2000 in nearby Ravenna, a pregnant woman was killed and her baby was cut out by a woman who claimed she was pregnant and took the victim's baby as her own. She killed herself five days later. COPY CAT MAYBE ? But i doubt it ......seems to much of a dry path to follow , but the option is open
Reason 4
Porter also was recorded saying the father of the boy and Davis' unborn daughter, Canton police patrolman Bobby Cutts Jr., was to drop off the boy at the home on Thursday. Yet Co-worker Dianna Piltz sent Davis a text message at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday and it cam back unanswered , 24 hrs later when Porter, 60, discovered the toddler alone when she went to check on her daughter Friday morning
Hmm Mommys in the rug , sounds like a struggle maybe . some forced her to the floor ( where she may or may not at the time been bably hurt or even killed at scene )
Whats scary is Authorities said Monday they had no suspects in the disappearance of Davis, 26, who is nine months pregnant.
No suspects ? Come on there has to be somebody ...a link something -serial killer roaming ? Stalker ? Man friends something ?
Davis' cell phone also is missing - couldn't they trace it's last calls ? Times last used , location , check answering service of cell phone for messages ?
Emails if she had internet ? Bank transactions ? Something
Overall i'm beating on the father of this unborn child !! Canton police patrolman Bobby Cutts Jr. and his wife
When asked Bobby Cutts Sr., Cutts' father, declined to make more than a brief comment when reached at his home in Orrville Monday evening.
"My son is grown and I don't get involved," he said. ?
Hmmm involved ? Thats a very strong word to be using in this dire situation...especially when theres a missing women( no doubt at one time almost a daughter in law ) caring his unborn grandchild and a grandson sitting alone for 24hrs in a empty house ? Something is a miss here in this little place called NORTH CANTON, Ohio...something is really a miss...sound sto me from the fathers reaction there might have been been blood in the past hmmm ?
I believe it's a good ol boy story added with a twist where the town is protecting the Good Ol Boy Patrol men ! You watch it all the time in made for TV movies based on true stores !! ....to bad the town or at least a few are apart of this whole sorrier situation - JiMiThInG, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Its a nice thought..but as others have said this chick is dead. At this point its just a matter of finding out where the baby's daddy put her body.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9We're just as useful as those chain emails that get sent out to everyone whenever someone goes missing. We all know how much it helps when you forward the email to everyone in your address book, works every time...
- k0vic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I'm from Canton and the rumor going around is the wife did it and her husband helped her hide it. I know the cop got in trouble once before and was suspended for giving his cousin a gun who is a convicted felon. 2 year old said Mommy's in the Rug, YIkes!
- MatthewDuke, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@sarzec
I'm from North Canton, it's a pretty nice place to live. Where are you from? - xSEED, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5umm so?
- Spr0k3t, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5OMG! BREAKING!!! You sir have just been added to ... oh what's the use. Oh look! There's a sale at Penny's!
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4How is it faster when it takes 18 hours for the story to become popular? At least with telegraph poles you're targeting people who actually live in the area, and you get the word out right away.
- cha5e, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I like the Amber Alert idea.
It burns me up that people are complaining that this story has no place on digg - I think it's a perfectly appropriate way of getting lots of people aware of the issue, and undoubtedly *some* of those people will be in the Canton area.
On the other hand, the vast majority of us aren't. Sure, it's possible that she's in Munich now, and some digger in Munich will spot her. But the most likely case is that she's still within 50 miles or so of Canton.
So, regarding the Amber Alert suggestion, may I humbly suggest a geographically-targeted Amber Alert section? For instance, the powers that be could collect zip/postcodes upon account creation. For existing accounts, require this information before allowing the user to post or reply again. Then, at least for every story in the Amber Alert section, require the submitter to indicate the zip/postcode where the story is taking place. A postcode database and a little trigonometry later, and it would be possible to only display the story to people in the vicinity. Maybe even make a time-based function to display it to a larger and larger area as time goes on.
Of course, I'm sure the tinfoil hat crowd will looooove my suggestion for digg to collect information on users' locations. So maybe make the rule be something like "if you've specified your location, you'll only see Amber Alert stories from your vicinity. If you haven't specified your location, you'll see all of them". - saigumi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Nah, this isn't important as that couple that criminally abandonned their children to go to dinner and one ended up vanishing. I mean, those people just left a 4 year old and two 2 years olds alone for a few hours while they got their drink on.
They even got to meet the pope because of their negligence. - SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3To all who left rude and insensitive comments - I truly hope that none of this woman's family members or friends does a search on Google regarding her missing. This article pops up when you type in '9 months pregnant' missing.
- crossmr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3unless she's hiding in someone's mother's basement....
- akatherder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3In theory, it helps to get the story out. Unfortunately the reality is that she's either hiding, being hidden, injured, or deceased. So it's not like you're going to see her at the gas station or the mall. Hey lady everyone's been looking for you!
- Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Unless she stumbles into view on a public webcam, yup.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The commentary from her two year old is really, really scary.
- hotsake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yes, that is very macabre. My overactive imagination went all horror movie on me when I read that...like she got dragged into the floor. I hope this turns out all right. This is awful.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5@nufa
ITS NEWS not the inquirer !! If you want to suck Oprah's balls feel free !!!
Nobody is stopping you or keeping you here from leaving Digg !! Lets just prey this doesn't happen to one of your loved ones or someone close too you !!!! Why answer in this thread? Nobody forced you to read this and or post in it....block this section from you list !! That is an option on Digg !!
Cause one thing about ,Digg karma on here can be a BITCH !! You heartless and insensitive slug !! - dRuNk3nIrIsHmEn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Thank god you're here Detective
- SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@Krakn3Dfx:
The victim's mother said that the comforter on the bed had a pattern on it that was similar to her oriental rug, which is how the little boy said his mommy was 'in the rub'. He was probably thinking of his grandma's rug. That, and the fact that the comforter is missing. - smurfmaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Because she went missing very recently, so there's still a chance to find her or the person who harmed her.
People who have been missing for years are unlikely to show up ever again, unless by some coincidence.
The longer ago it happened, the less likely it is to be resolved. -
