- RedAmerican, on 07/02/2008, -0/+24Everyone in the UK thinks you're a knob. And I mean everyone :D
- ELLIS1128, on 07/02/2008, -1/+18I hate how the Daily Mail makes my home country look so *****. It never reports the good stuff.
- airwalkery2k, on 07/02/2008, -0/+10I've just been to Heathrow, and I can attest to the flight delays.
What's worst of all, however, is the passport check there. I waited 3 hours to get through because they had 2 agents for a line of 300 people. - and303, on 07/02/2008, -0/+9My favorite part about Heathrow is all the military dudes walking around with machine guns. Automatic weapons being pointed at you make the already-fun experience so much more comforting.
- Butros, on 07/02/2008, -0/+9It's cool man, we know England rocks. I went to a Starbucks there and had my coffee in a mug! Oh and when we checked into our hotel the old guy at the check in counter was working his way through a bottle of gin, he rocked too.
- and303, on 07/02/2008, -0/+9Uh, no way. With the exception of the big guys (LAX, O'Hare, JFK, Heartfield)...I'd take pretty much any US airport over Heathrow. Especially the BA international terminal...absolute nightmare.
- and303, on 07/02/2008, -0/+8If people judged Britain by their experiences in Heathrow alone, the Blitz would start all over again.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -2/+10I think the Daily Mail should just ***** over itself and die. It seems to be on a perpetual quest to make English people hate their country and their neighbours.
- JRumph, on 07/02/2008, -0/+7Wow. Makes me all that more thankful my boss has always told me to fly into Gatwick just to avoid Heathrow.
- scabbers, on 07/02/2008, -1/+8What good stuff? ;)
Just wait until the 2012 Olympics arrives and the stadium or whatever still needs another 18 years to be finished. - twodimman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5standsted ftw!
- amdahlj, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5The delays are great! Otherwise I'd miss my flight every time I had to take one of those shuttles to make my transfer...
- HenvY, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5Gatwick: The middle of nowhere.
- avnerlevit, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5its also the busiest airport in europe..
i mean there is always a non-stop fu***** "train" of airplanes landing and taking off or doing something at heathrow every 5 minutes.
i'll give them that.. - Kanaka, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Its true, it really is that bad. I was recently on a flight to MIA...it was delayed by 3 hrs! and when we were taking off we had to queue to gain runway access, there were like 5/6 planes in front of us. So total time wasted = 4hrs plus change
- 3leggedHorse, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Because it is full of bureaucracy, cheap labour, and it is in England. Everything in this country is a ***** up. I swear if someone had to pick up a piece of litter there would be health & safety issues.
The only leader to go to that oil summit to get more oil produced was Gordon Brown, who was previously the chancellor and taxed the ***** out of fuel, which is the main reason it is so expensive here. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Yeah the airport here in Detroit is boss. Bathrooms 20 feet from each other. I travel monthly and rarely get delays.
- madeingermany, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5After centuries of European flying machines... and it wasn't even the first fixed-wing Aircraft.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-wing_aircraft#H ... - DigitAl56K, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4In the UK people actually recognize the country's problems and talk about them publicly. In most cases this leads at least to *attempts* to do something about them.
In the US people recognize Brittney Spears's problems and talk about them publicly. In most cases this does not lead to attempts to do something about them. - Ramble, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Nah, that can't be it, otherwise all American airports would be just as bad because they all stop for McDonalds every 10 minutes.
- boombye, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3The guys from Hot Fuzz have been demoted to checking passports?
- sfacets, on 07/02/2008, -4/+6...because nobody understands a goddamn word anyone is saying?
- JonnyIsElectric, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2ECHO-O-O-O-O-O-O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.-.-.-.-.-.
no... no i cant - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3You aren't funny boombye.
- petecampbell, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Making a trip to Heathrow next week, not quite looking forward to it anymore.
- airwalkery2k, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I am talking about the border agents that check your passport when you enter the airport on a flight from another country. It may be better for the Europeans and the UK nationals since they have their own special lines, but for the rest of chums, we have a lot of waiting to do.
- Crimsoneer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Sorry, but I like heathrow...you can fly anywhere, anyday of hte week. Sure, long lines, but thats what you get for being the heart of europe.
- boombye, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I get the pun, and I could really care less for being dugg down, I don't need the acceptance, I'm okay.
- madeingermany, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Not only are the planes late - the ***** lost our baby's car seat and stroller for the 2nd time.
I know.... "Fool me — you can't get fooled again" - wigginz, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2SHOCKING!
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2In a word Heathrow sucks! I have been the victim of that airport many times. Nothing quite like the experiance after waitng for 2 hours at the bagage claim and then being told that your luggage, as well as the rest of the flight was never taken off the plane and is onboard the plane which has taken off for Moscow. The other pet peeve I have with Heathrow is how come half the time the arrival and departure screens give the wrong gate info and wrong times?
- boombye, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3Your teeth aren't funny. Alright no more dissing on the Tea and crumpets thing, apparently it's a serious matter.
- misterdrumz, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2My uncle is a regional president of some paper company is Australia and whenever he goes on business trips to head office in finland he stops over here to visit us in the UK but every time he comes through Heathrows British Airways Temrinals his case has got lost/delayed.
At least he gets given money to buy new clothes whilst he's over here. - chadell, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I think you are all missing the point. The DailyMail is pointing out the lack of capacity as the reason for delays by stating that 'These figures are the latest evidence of the problems caused by a lack of capacity at Heathrow.' Anyone who lives in the UK knows that there has been fierce opposition to the expansion of Heathrow from residents in London and environmentalists. My view is that the Mail is subtly supporting the expansion of Heathrow.
- GregofJersey, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2And in the United States, Philadelphia is the worst. =P
- brundlefly76, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2holysocks, you have no idea.
and303 is right - Heathrow is in a class of its own when it comes to travel misery.
I have only flown it a half-dozen times but something hellish happens every time - and the LINES!
I have TWICE shown up 3 hours before a flight and missed my flight waiting in check-in lines - lines that extend out of the ticketing area and into hallways. Lines that just fill the entire space and only the people in them really know who's in front of who.
I have also stood out on the tarmac for an hour in the rain at Heathrow for a bomb threat (this is before 9/11), and rented a hotel room at the airport just so I could have a comfortable space to sleep waiting for flights. Its awful. Its always something. - GlitchEnzo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Very true! Luckily they have the Gatwick Express to get you to London in a jiffy though.
- Azlen, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1C'mon people this is Digg. We have to find some way to blame this on Bush or McCain.
- Lateralis1, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1London City Airport is amazing, 5 minutes to get into the departure lounge from the front doors, 5 minutes to get out after your flight lands and a pretty awesome and comfortable departure lounge, you'd think you're in the first class lounge at any other airport. I had a flight to switzerland with Cityjet, the fares were £20 while the taxes were £100...
Goddamnit. - KarthVader, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Damn, I have to catch a connecting flight from Heathrow to Chennai. This is not going to be fun.
- moyn, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I'm a frequent traveler out of London. If you think about it, a real solution to many problems is to stop Great Britain flights (within, say, 400 miles) out of Heathrow, save it for longer flights, and enhance the train system with a few world class (and fee-regulated) bullet trains through England, Wales, and Scotland. Think about it: cut down demand at Heathrow probably avoiding the expensive and disruptive third runway, cut down carbon emissions by switching from flights to trains (assuming the right rail technology is deployed), and improve the crappy train system. AND, it would be a more convenient and pleasant travel experience, and probably as fast or faster (door to door).
But, unfortunately, something like this tasks leadership. - ELLIS1128, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Literally rocked?
- soupr, on 07/02/2008, -0/+12012 is going to be awesome
- madeingermany, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Well I just entered the US and had to wait for hours at immigration, despite having a valid visa, after a 10 hour flight, with a crying Baby in my arms.
And after that customs decided they need to check our luggage for dangerous meats and fruit. - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1also, random stop-and-frisk
http://www.infowars.com/ - brundlefly76, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1McCarran is too small to rate - there are tons of great small airports.
However any airport where you can play slots at the gate and hookers meet you at curbside is fantastic. - GlitchEnzo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1The best airport I have been to is McCarran in Las Vegas. Luckily I've never been Heathrow, but I have been to Gatwick.
- ChayD, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Apropos of this:

Hilarious! - itspuddingtime, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I think Chicago is worse
