- mogebier, on 05/17/2009, -1/+90What an annoyingly stupid way to show information.
It's creative, but retarded at the same time. - karlw, on 05/17/2009, -1/+58horrible info graphic.
- jotate, on 05/17/2009, -1/+35Hey. Marketing guy that took a CS class so he could make wacky web presentations. Stop it. That's a bad marketing guy. We do that outside.
- Johnglave, on 05/17/2009, -1/+23God, this should be a lesson in how not to design a website....... Using Flash for nearly the whole page.........

- mklopez, on 05/17/2009, -4/+14... specially on the toilet
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 05/17/2009, -1/+10And the worst part is, I'm seeing more and more of this crap. Graphic Designers are more concerned with how things look than usability. Here, a simple table would have been great, instead of hiding the fact that you have very little information in some fancy graphic. Why would you put some of the text upside down? It's completely unusable for anything.
- dfross, on 05/17/2009, -4/+11Reading news.bbc from yesterday, while being unable to search, follow hyperlinks to other articles or view anything but that day's news...
Yeah, it's the end of an era, but yeesh, it's worth it! - Bull985, on 05/17/2009, -10/+17There's nothing like sitting down and reading the newspaper.
- Flytrap, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7I take my iPhone into the toilet with me just so that I can catch up on the latest news while I do my thing.
By the time that gets printed in some newspaper... it'll really already be old news! - birch25, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6I'm impressed you lasted 5 minutes
- jer2eydevil88, on 05/17/2009, -2/+8Yesterday's news today! Now that's a concept I see working well in the Internet age.
- Rain12913, on 05/17/2009, -2/+7Turn the page, wash your hands. You turn the page, wash your hands. You turn the page, wash your hands.
- AmyVernon, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6A little out of date, with the Rocky Mountain News still listed there.... But what's more interesting to me is to see how much daily circulation really has plunged. And how some of the major-city papers still have HUGE Sunday circulation, which is kinda nice. But most of that is because people want all the ads and circulars.
- Flytrap, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4Does anyone remember the days when you could buy a booklet containing the latest internet web directory. I remember I used to look forward to those coming out because they would be jam packed with information about the latest sites, how the web is expanding, tips about how to get onto usenet, etc.
- Rudegar, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4no time to read paper newspapers
I sit around with my telegraph and wait for those ._.__....'s :P - stopbrorape, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5Read a book.

- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4"Newspapers actually employ reporters"
Living in a city with only a Gannet newspaper, that line gave me a chuckle. Yes they employ reporters.. some of them quite talented. Except with each round of budget cuts and mass buyouts, the good reporters who don't retire are becoming so overworked all they can do is reword city and state press releases. The level of actual reporting and investigating being done at most newspapers is rather dismal. - DephexTwin, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4The worst thing is that it doesn't have much info, and could easily be laid out in a table. Then you could compare things so much more easily. Or at all.
- wadick4, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4No one, I'm reading Digg right now.
- cassusfett, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3I was hoping for this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlKL_EpnSp8 - MACady, on 05/17/2009, -2/+5If newspapers reported news I would read them but most of the content I find in print, I consider to be propaganda.
- norman619, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4Actually they are. Newspapers simply present you with news articles. Digg does the same. You get ads in newspapers. You get ads on Digg. You get letteres to the editor in newspapers. We get to comment on the articles on Digg. Same thing only difference is that Digg is more current.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4Or you don't fully understand the issue... but whatever
- fandyllic, on 05/17/2009, -5/+8Newspapers actually employ reporters and don't just aggregate or vulture off other sources as much as online news sites and blogs. Also, they have more consistent quality standards, unlike AP random crap. They are the roots of the news and as we know with plants, you kill the roots, the plant dies.
The UI for this thing does suck, but the information is still good.
It shows clearly that quality has no correlation with readership and that is what is truly sad. USA Today, WSJ, NY Post, NY Daily News, ... Feh. - diplo, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3nearly? try the whole page, and not backwards compatible to boot. I get nothing but a message to update my flash player, which is a sure sign that it's crap.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Buried for assuming I didn't google search: "type upside down".
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3You have to hold and click, and then it centers itself.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3This is why they can't have nice things.
- insanebrain, on 05/17/2009, -2/+5the webpage interface is as horrible as the newspapers itself.
- yerdaddy, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4Hey I'm just telling it like it is. Add in people who also don't mind the fact that it's mainly a unidirectional flow news medium and there you have it, the people who still read newspapers.
Millions less than there used to be. - wellstd1, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3Newspaper readership is actually at an all time high, it's the print that's in the decline. Interactive news sites where people can customize what they see, much like Google News, are the future.
- Zincyams, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Nostalgia firing on all cylinders.
- drunkjack, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3How the ***** does one read those upside down entries?
I want a 'buried as *****' option. - CLShortFuse, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2I know. Who decided that information on paper is the best...
Oh.. the website, yeah. - teamgwho, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2if you click and drag the paper out it shows up larger and right side up. whoever designed this is an asstard.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2i rest my case
- voteobama4, on 05/17/2009, -2/+4*Facepalm*
Big-city newspapers span entire states. The biggest newspapers span the entire country. - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Much like newspapers.
- s0nicfreak, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1Wow, the Chicago Tribune is high on the list, yet filed for bankruptcy last year... which means the papers lower on the list can't be doing too well.
And to answer the question; old people.
Pretentious college students who want to have the Wallstreet Journal in front of their door GET newspapers, but I don't think they all actually read it. - 3rdDay, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1But you can't wipe your ass on an iPhone in an emergency.
- cyrix, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1You're getting dugg down because you made a comparison between the NYT and Digg. They are nothing alike, not by a long shot. If you expect top quality news from digg....well your ***** out of luck.
- s0nicfreak, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1I can get to news sites on a $10 cellphone.
- NYConcepts, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1With stupid unnecessary web designs like that, sometimes I wonder why I go to newyorktimes.com instead of buying the paper down the street.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1I can see the comfort in tradition, but I've personally always hated the physical layout of newspapers. They're so big and awkward you've got to hold your arms out in front of you to see it properly, then the pages all start sliding around, then they make you turn to some other page hidden in the back to keep reading a piece. So you try to fold it up to make it less awkward, then you need to unfold it to find the page where you left off... Give me tabs, or at least a back button!!!
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+2A person can use flash on the whole page and still have it be perfectly usable. This is purely a case of abusing the technology.
- tmyprod, on 05/17/2009, -1/+2I still read the print version of The Stranger (free Seattle weekly).
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1I knew I remembered that from somewhere. Now that you've clarified your buries will stop, I bet. It's only funny if you read it in his voice.

What is Digg?
