- Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -16/+361The place was booked and Obama's team said that the Bush's have been very accommodating in many ways.
There are outgoing parties and receptions planned at the Blair house. - normlsparky, on 12/13/2008, -11/+203With all of the REAL problems the country faces right now, I don't see how this even deserves to be mentioned. I'm sure Obama will make other arrangements so that his kids can start school on time. Buried for creating fictional drama about the transition process.
- Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -13/+192Why would you digg me down? I really want to know. I'm a dem, a liberal, voted for Obama and Bush makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
I'm just saying the place is booked solid. It's the Bush's place to use until the 15th. If the pres elect isn't upset...
Maybe if they would have asked sooner, it could have been worked out. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -10/+146Because most of the people on digg are zealots, and most of these people hate EVERYTHING that Bush does.
- noupsell, on 12/13/2008, -29/+163the white house needs the extra room for shredding documents
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -21/+152Buried as lame doesn't really do this justice. Buried as stupid ***** maybe?
- noupsell, on 12/13/2008, -33/+11938 days 2 hours 36 minutes
- 3tcp, on 12/13/2008, -4/+77Who cares? The president of the united states typically doesn't typically book guests in the white house guest house if they're unimportant enough that they can be canceled just like that. I'm sure obama will be able to stay, free of charge, in the finest suite in the finest hotel in metro washington for those 10 days so it's not like he's going to have to slum it because the white houes was booked already.
- chickenloco, on 12/13/2008, -6/+74This is a non issue.
Obama will move in at the same time every other president has been able to move in.
The area he wanted to move in was already booked - which Bush, like him or not, has every right to do. - Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -7/+74Thanks. I guess I should have figured that.
- chickenloco, on 12/13/2008, -7/+63You can Bash Bush for ALOT of things, but this is not one of them. Give me a break.
Obama will move in at the same time ANY other president has moved in. - dan222555, on 12/13/2008, -13/+63Are you kidding me? What are you going to call up and say? "Wah wah wah the President Elect can't move into the Whitehouse guest house so his kids can start they're expensive private education.....I'm so distraught. Wah wah wah"?
God you people are a ***** joke. - bigfatphony19, on 12/13/2008, -4/+54I was sure this would be an Onion article.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -4/+53FTA: She added that "you’re trying to make a story out of something that’s not a story."
Well said. - boothash, on 12/13/2008, -10/+58Dugg down for apostrophe use in title.
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Apostrophes - Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -5/+40The 15th is the usual day the incoming president moves in to Blair House. Bush and wife didn't know he'd be asking to move in early. Obama could have asked earlier.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -6/+38Shouldn't you RTFA?
- mal1964, on 12/13/2008, -3/+35This is not front page news. Only on digg.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/13/2008, -4/+36Seriously. Obama doesn't deserve special treatment on this issue. This is from an Obama supporter by the way...
The Clintons had the same problem with Chelsea Clinton in 92 but they didn't move in early. If I am correct I believe they stayed with a friend for a couple weeks.
The Obama family has a net worth of over a million dollars. I'm sure they can find a temporary place to stay for 10 days.
There isn't a problem with him requesting to stay at the blair house but if it's booked it's booked. - Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -5/+29Again, what's the problem?
If this is the way it's done during a transition - why should Obama need special treatment, he doesn't seem to expect it.
There are so many reasons to hate Bush, we don't have to create any. - boocher, on 12/13/2008, -9/+33Dugg down for inaccuracy. Read the article people!
PS, there are more important issues than this out there. I'm sure Obama is a capable father and will get his children to school on time. - ByronT, on 12/13/2008, -13/+36WHY IS THIS GETTING DUGG?! YOU IDIOTS! GOD DAMN YOU IDIOTS
- ileftfark, on 12/13/2008, -22/+45Hey, no big deal- the same thing happened to Jesus in that storybook.
- Batfishy, on 12/13/2008, -3/+25It's the Blair House. Not the White House.
- dha07030, on 12/13/2008, -7/+28This is a national tragedy.
/s - NinaOdell, on 12/13/2008, -14/+35Since I got this on the weekend, I called the duty officer, who apparently had received some calls already.
I asked if I could register a complaint, and he said "Sure!" and sent me to voicemail for the Secretary of State. I registered my complaint and left my phone number.
I did it all on my pretty purple Verizon cell phone
Fear is the mindkiller. Do it, people. - Rikkochet, on 12/13/2008, -2/+21This isn't a douchebag Hollywood restaurant where they kick out people who aren't as popular as people who would prefer to enter unannounced.
The Obamas wanted to see if they could move in early. They were told it's too late - there are things already booked before they move in. They won't move in.
End of story. I don't know why people on both sides of this issue are trying to make this into more than it is. One time I called a restaurant and asked if I could move my reservations for 6:00 that evening to 5:00. They said they couldn't do it. I hung up. And then I didn't write a sulking NY Time blog entry and get people crying about it. - GreatSunJester, on 12/13/2008, -8/+26You know -- this was a no-win situation for Bush on Digg. If he would have said (assuming the request ever even reached him) 'Why sure, you go ahead and move in.", we would be seeing all kinds if "Look at that Bush, trying to sleaze into a presidential pardon when he is convicted of war crimes" posts.
- nnagflar, on 12/13/2008, -4/+22Obamas
- SenorBudd, on 12/13/2008, -7/+25Why don't the Obama's rent a place for a few weeks instead??
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -3/+19Y'know, it's easier to type if you take the hood off.
- dddavid, on 12/13/2008, -8/+24But has never been used more than during this administration
- warriorscot, on 12/13/2008, -0/+15Exactly. Its not a big deal. Its a difference of only 10 days. They stay there for only 5 days anyway. I think they can manage to rough it in a 5 star hotel suite for a couple of weeks.
- jackieblu, on 12/13/2008, -4/+19" The real America"- Palin is that you?
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -5/+19You mean the 19% who still have their heads up their asses? Yeah, we're not too fond of you guys.
What the hell are you idiots going to do when Obama turns out to be one of the best presidents in history? - robbiedo, on 12/13/2008, -1/+14I am sure they will find a place close enough to the bus stop for the girls to get to school.
- futureisours, on 12/13/2008, -11/+24Who gives a crap. I'm sure they'll find a very nice place to stay before they move into the White House. Another bitter non-story trying to attack Bush. You guys won, for now, just get over it already.
- BoxAdorable, on 12/13/2008, -9/+22They're means they are, their is possessive.
- TheSabre, on 12/13/2008, -8/+21Impeach Bush and Cheney NOW! This is a travesty.
/s - weikerx, on 12/13/2008, -4/+16ok ok fine. They can stay at my place if they don't mind sharing the couch and air mattress.
- robbiedo, on 12/13/2008, -4/+16Probably should have booked earlier, like after his convention nomination. That would have went over real well.
- BuryBrigade08, on 12/13/2008, -1/+12No problem I'll call and tell them I support their decision to counter-act dumb asses like you.
- Treason, on 12/13/2008, -9/+18"They are expensive private education" who is the MORON here?
- Rikkochet, on 12/13/2008, -1/+10When was Digg taken by people who can only comment to explain why exactly they dugg something?
- DivisibleByZero, on 12/13/2008, -2/+11It's not like they might want to have friends over for any sort of going away parties...

- jeremyosborne81, on 12/13/2008, -0/+8Well, his parents at least.
- georgemason01, on 12/13/2008, -1/+9"Let me know if the Bush Administration vandalizes the White House and if George and Laura steal anything on their way out."

http://articles.latimes.com/2002/jun/12/nation/na- ... - Xbef, on 12/13/2008, -9/+17This wouldn't be an issue if Obama hadn't asked for special treatment.
Obama will get it on the 15th just like every other modern President-elect. - ShittyPunGuy, on 12/13/2008, -1/+9I'm sure President elect Obama can take care of this one himself.
