It is supposed to be symbol of world unity, but awarding the games to a country that is responsible for egregious human rights violations sends a message to the world that it is perfectly acceptable for those practices to continue.

The baton isn't even on the route right now, they took into a police base and they're shortening the entire route right now as protesters have blocked off the original route in front of AT&T park. ......ah, now they've moved the route to Van Ness, so, theres no protesters there, just holding up traffic for all the working people. great.

    All those red flags are pro-China and pro-Olympics supporters. There are many more of them than the Tibetans. Too bad media often mistake them for anti-China protesters.

    The committee should stop deluding themselves into thinking that the torch will be warmly welcomed wherever they choose. A lot of people simply can't overlook the horrible human rights record of the PRC's government.

    The protesters should just chill. They're hurting their message by their poor behavior. I mean, making a grab for it, trying to extinguish it, and harassing the runners who are there with no ill intent? That's just shameful. They should stop acting like 10 year olds.

I disapprove of China's human rights abuses, but at the same time, I hate when the media distorts the truth IN OUR OWN FREE SOCIETY. I made a valid point- what's wrong with showing both sides of the story? Should NBC be like other outlets that constantly show Tibet protestors and one side of the Tibet riots? What is the point of our free media if we have come to the point where we will just accept anything from CNN/FOX unless it's about Obama or Iraq? Heck, I used to have faith in our media, because I believed, because of seeing some of the comments on Digg and other forums that people were always skeptical of what they see on the news. However, when it comes to crap about China, everyone turns into a mindless sheep that believes whatever the article says regardless of the source.

          And yeah, Digg hasn taken a turn for the worse. I remember articles in just 2006 when there was less of these idiotic calls for boycotts of random companies from armchair activists.

I think this argument should be declared dead after reading that RedSaber thinks asking a Canadian about Quebec's freedom has no 'intellectual' value. It is obvious RedSaber has no grasp that Canadians understand Quebec's point of view but many disagree. He obviously feels his view is the only correct one, which is very common in ignorant individuals. Good luck in the next silent revolution RedSaber, I hope you pop out 12 kids to continue your point of view.

          If that's the biggest mistake you make on a fourth language then you are quite well educated, in languages at least.
