- HeyyyJoe, on 11/06/2009, -9/+65When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
-Jimi Hendrix - discoandhaze, on 11/06/2009, -10/+59What a total Dick.
- EddiePotato, on 11/06/2009, -1/+48Who the hell keeps asking Dick what he thinks about US foreign policy? It's like asking Bernie Madoff his opinions on investing.
- inactive, on 11/06/2009, -9/+49Why the ***** is the media still reporting what this criminal says?
- eastwood24, on 11/06/2009, -4/+31http://www.flickr.com/photos/57276642%40N00/214238 ...
1984 was such an amazing work of literature. - HeyyyJoe, on 11/06/2009, -5/+28War is over if you want it.
- sonnybobiche, on 11/06/2009, -1/+23Totalitarianism, really. But I have yet to see an implementation of communism without a serious totalitarian streak in it.
- StripeyMagee, on 11/06/2009, -4/+25Good ole deferment Dick!
- frcc, on 11/06/2009, -9/+26Are we talking about Bush supporters or Obamas? I can't tell the difference in foreign policy.
- cheezintern, on 11/06/2009, -6/+21Wow a 1984 reference and Dick spouting more nonsense out of his hole. Just another day on the interweb.
- TViss, on 11/07/2009, -0/+13What does he mean by "victory". What is the ultimate goal here?
- Orbital101, on 11/06/2009, -2/+14Isn't Cheney NOT in charge of anything anymore? if so, then why is what he thinks news?
- AaronPDX, on 11/06/2009, -3/+15Dick Cheney criticizing Democrats and urging more war is still considered news?
- Infowarsdotcom, on 11/06/2009, -3/+15Are we still at war with Iraq while the people who put Bush and Obama in power continue to profit off of it? Yes, we are.
Are we still at war with Afghanistan while the people who put Bush and Obama in power continue to profit off of it? Yes, we are.
Name a long stretch where we weren't involved in any wars in the last few decades. We have been at war with some nation or in support of some ally for the last century. Back in the 50s, good ole Dwight D warned us of the danger of the military industrial complex. War for profit has been happening AT LEAST since then. - dexx4d, on 11/06/2009, -0/+11@Davrioza: And we need to ensure the natural gas and oil pipeline through the region is properly protected.
- FredFredrickson, on 11/07/2009, -4/+14Dick Cheney is an *****.
- Bodhinature, on 11/07/2009, -1/+11I can barely tell the difference on domestic policy.
- noupsell, on 11/06/2009, -1/+11Thinking that the war in Afghanistan is at all winnable is an ideologically concept that is deeply flawed and the only people that believe that are the sheep. It's a futile effort that will continue to waste lives and money.
- Hetman, on 11/06/2009, -3/+12Blowback. More war is not the answer to any of our problems. Actually saving money on trillion dollar wars would probably be in our benifit.
- meathammer05, on 11/06/2009, -3/+12Maybe Dick Cheney should have taken a little more time to review his war statagey... douchebag!
- PhilliesBlunt, on 11/07/2009, -1/+10Dick Chaney had 8 years to do exactly what he's advocating Obama do now. He didn't.
- ebolaworld, on 11/07/2009, -0/+8And to think, this guy was President!
- record200, on 11/07/2009, -0/+8Why he still goes free?!
He made numerous public statements alleging Iraq possessed WMD putting the US nation to war with no ***** reason!
He's a liar!
It's so far from decency, I can't stand it. - Hetman, on 11/06/2009, -3/+11I agree. He did set a 16 month time frame for withdrawel. However it does not look like it is going to happen. Once you take into consideration that many americans become blood thristy when any terrorism happens. We have a recipe for disaster brewing.
- TViss, on 11/07/2009, -1/+9Tell me about it. I have two plus two equals five tattooed on my leg =]
- evil-doer, on 11/07/2009, -3/+10this is so ***** stupid, what exactly is the goal here? it seems to be if theres anyone still shooting at them, they havent won yet. well ***** duh. if youre in someones country there will always be resistance. youll NEVER win. someone will always be opposing you. thats not a very good way to define winning. move your army into ANY country and they will start fighting you. YOURE THE AGGRESSOR.
- jsalathe, on 11/07/2009, -2/+8In most cases just the aggressor has to stop the war. Not always, but usually.
- Infowarsdotcom, on 11/06/2009, -7/+13It's funny how American presidents always share the same view on war...
You'd think there's some kind of conspiracy or something... - ericthesalmon, on 11/07/2009, -3/+9We can't afford to provide a basic need to citizens but we can afford to spend another decade killing brown people in a patch of quicksand. Right.
- Barackalypse, on 11/06/2009, -7/+13So Dick's a war monger and that warrants a 1984 reference, but God forbid anybody say that about Obama (who sent 21,000 more troops into that war, negotiated a deal whereby the Federal Government now owns the majority of the largest US auto company and part of Chrysler, supports single payer health care, and is continuing the Bush legacy of rendition and asserting state secrets preiveledge in a warrantless wiretapping case).
- sonnybobiche, on 11/06/2009, -2/+7Sorry, which long stretches precisely? Clinton had Yugoslavia, Bush 41 had Gulf War, Reagan and everyone before him had the Cold War.
- eXcommunicate, on 11/06/2009, -2/+7Maybe you don't realize something, but we can't afford this ***** anymore.
- sonnybobiche, on 11/06/2009, -1/+6Because people need something to be angry about, and they refuse to be angry at themselves.
- AndrewDB, on 11/06/2009, -4/+9Why the hell are we still listening to this Dick? Why are we still giving him attention?
- iancgi, on 11/07/2009, -2/+7look at that cheney and obama agree on continuing to fight the war in Afghanistan, imagine that! id say they have the same agenda.
- BasalCellBossk, on 11/07/2009, -1/+6Islam hasn't existed for 'thousands of years'. It has only been around for 1500 odd years. If you can't even get that tiny factoid right, what credibility does the rest of your screed warrant?
You want to talk history? OK. Islam goes through periods of dark ages and resurgences of enlightenment like any other culturally linked belief system. It is a highly complex religion that cannot be easily simplified.
When the Christian empire was in its own dark ages, the Islamic world was in a golden age, and they maintained knowledge of classical mathematics, art, philosophy and science while the Christians were huddled in huts picking lice off each other.
The majority of Muslims in the world *aren't even in the Middle East* - and Islamic fundamentalists make up a tiny - but vociferous - minority of them. There are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world. If they were all crazy Jihadist *****, then we in the West would be utterly *****. They aren't, and we're not.
Simplistic world views are for simpletons. - KarmaPoIice, on 11/06/2009, -11/+15I think we can do without the sensationalist titles...
- copypastry, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4Are you sure that picture isn't actually of John Howard?
http://www.sportcartoons.co.uk/wallpaper/john_howa ...
And yes, 1984 is a great book and unfortunately a little bit more prophetic that I would have hoped. - KVachon, on 11/07/2009, -1/+5[citation needed]
- laibixi, on 11/06/2009, -1/+5It would be undifferentiated to claim it solely is a critique against Communism (which Communism do you speak of, communism as an utopian ideology, which never became reality, the former "communist" Soviet Union, China,....?).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Orwell#Politic ... - Stemp, on 11/07/2009, -1/+5Against communism ? you should really read «Homage to Catalonia» ! He was in the POUM (Partido Obrero Unificación Marxist, in english Workers' Party of Marxist Unification) not really right wing.
- eXcommunicate, on 11/06/2009, -1/+5Right, because the Communist North Vietnamese were SO much worse than the Fascist thugs we supported in the South... Good one!
- LucifersDad, on 11/07/2009, -2/+5Still trying to work out why hasn't Al-Qaeda once attacked Cheney, Bush or Rumsfeld. It seems the only targets Al-Qaeda go for benefit the right wing chicken heads in America. But then again the chicken heads were friend with Al-Qaeda not long ago.
- card51short, on 11/07/2009, -3/+6"What does that have to do with the fact that Obama has continued Bush's wars and isn't doing anything to change the status quo?"
It's all they got, man.
Normal person : "Man it looks like Obama is doing almost exactly what Bush did...someone should say something...what's going on?"
dshPls : "SO?! ALEX JONES SELLS PRODUCTS ON HIS WEBSITE!111 PURE EVILL1L1L11!11!"
And we're the insane conspiracy nuts...*sigh* - lucidgoo, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4Wow Cheney must not be able to sleep at night unless he knows that soldiers and civilians are dying. His administration had 8 years to get it right and I think its time to make a serious assessment of how best to use our resources over there. Not just throwing more troops and money at the problem.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4You are too kind.
- vectoor, on 11/06/2009, -6/+9If the taliban play purple haze they wont try to decapitate you...
- settheory, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3What are you talking about? Obama supporters have been some of the most vocal critics of his regime. Everyday there are a but load of stories on digg, submitted by progressives, criticizing Obama. I have personally criticized his policies (and been dugg down for it) on rendition, lack of transparency, wiretapping etc.
On the other hand Cheney is just insane. There is nothing political in that statement, he is just a raving lunatic like you see on the street corner preach about his "immortal dog saving you from the fascocommunazi terrorists". How can you read Cheney's comments and think to yourself "wow this guy is making a lot of sense, he really has his ***** together". I mean I am not very happy with Obama, but I thank god he isn't Bush/Cheney. - eavesdrop, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3Next time don't borrow money from Uncle Sam(that you cant pay back) if you don't want your company under his control.
Why can't Uncle Sam be capitalist but you can? -
