*Faces Israeli President*
You are much older than me, but your voice is very loud. Perhaps this is because by raising your voice you are indirectly feeling guilty for what you have done. You are trying to justify your actions by trying to speak over me.
Know that my voice will not be as loud as yours. But I can say one thing.
When it comes to killing, you and your people know this very well. You are a man who kills innocent children in their homes. You are a man who kills families when they go to the beech for a picnic.
You have had previous presidents who have stated they felt very happy when they were able to enter Palestine on tanks. They SAID that they were happy killing palestinians.
*faces the camera*
THOSE who applaud at such a disgusting, inhumane massacre, such disgusting, bloodthirsty threatment, -you- are equally held accountable. I -condemn- you for applauding at such a barbaric act. I -condemn- you for applauding at such a precident.
This is because by applauding at those who killed these innocent children-by applauding at those who murdered these innocent people-THIS is an -equally- barbaric act!
We cannot sit here and ignore the truth. We cannot sit here and ignore the facts. During this debate I made so many notes but I am not given the time to answer and refute everything this president said.
BUT I will say 2 things:
First is: In the 6th Commandement of the Torah it says 'THOU SHALL NOT KILL'
The Israeli's are killing!
Secondly: The Israeli's barbaric act is beyond inhumane treatment and FROM NOW ON I refuse to attend such a gathering.
You are not letting me speak. THE MAN sitting beside me has spoken for 25 minutes. I have spoken less than HALF that time.
To me Doros is finished.
*walks off* - IamNOTmrT, on 01/30/2009, -21/+108Well done Peres! Turkey was the closest thing you had to an ally in your region, and not even they will listen to your *****!
- antigravit42, on 06/14/2009, -10/+86So they're cutting him off because they "really need to get people to dinner"
I rather have an empty stomach for 20 minutes than a house that was destroyed because of needless bombing. :/ - cdnbmatt, on 01/31/2009, -7/+72"We really do need to get people to dinner" ??!!?!?! Give me a freaking break! Good to see that they have their priorities ass backwards... no wonder the world is in the state it is.
- burketo, on 01/30/2009, -9/+70What does America do when a NATO ally collides with Israel?
- rawnzilla, on 01/31/2009, -10/+62That translator was horrible. Stutter, stutter, pause...stutter, pause... stutter. Sounded like a dying cat at some points.
- cnot3, on 01/31/2009, -22/+66At least someone has the balls to stand up to Israel. If they were a Muslim country, we would have invaded them years ago.
- killahwhale, on 01/31/2009, -12/+48I have never understood why America has such a boner for Israel.
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -15/+51They cut him off because he wasn't towing the Zionist/war-mongering line.
- omgwtflawl, on 01/31/2009, -8/+38Israeli lobby is huge in America. Howard Dean once suggested that we should stop giving military aid to Israel once, and all of the media was all over him asking him why he was so "anti-semetic".
- rawnzilla, on 01/31/2009, -5/+30I can't criticize someone's poor job because I can't do it myself? That's *****, buddy. I hope you never complain about the how any President is doing, or how the train was late, unless you can do it better. It's not MY JOB to translate, it was HERS and she did a piss-poor attempt at it.
- minnymoo, on 01/31/2009, -1/+25As a Turk, I have to agree the translator did a terrible job.
However, there were some things he said that couldn't be translated directly because it loses meaning, as does for most languages. - dsfjvhbd, on 01/31/2009, -1/+24<nitpicky>Davos is finished</nitpicky>
- iambrucenolan, on 01/31/2009, -16/+38I used to have loads of respect for Israel before, but the war has changed it forever!
Good work Turkey PM.
Israel has become another Hitler! - boazg, on 01/31/2009, -7/+27because the agressive and warlike Shimon Peres was talking?
- Jerky1312, on 01/31/2009, -1/+21He spoke last and didn't accept any wrong doing whatsoever in his administration and Israel's actions. He took 25 minutes and he defended Israel from start to finish and threw a few choices statements directly at the Turkish PM. This is why Erdogan wanted to rebut his statements, but was cut off. Erdogan stated he was upset for two reasons, one was the moderator not giving him a chance to reply to Peres' statements and also at Peres' tone of voice towards him and not addressing him in a more professional manor, mainly his pointing his finger at him and loud tone. Later on, it is noted that Peres called Erdogan and apologized for his actions.
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -3/+18Wow you have poor listening skills. He walked out because the moderator wouldn't let him finish.
- diametric1992, on 01/31/2009, -7/+22According to the rules of War in Islam, one cannot provoke, only defend, furthermore, they can only provoke if the intended target allows for rampant murders, raping, and other heinous crimes to take place, so as to put a stop to these things.
Moreover, there is no established Islamic country in this world, which is ruled entirely by Shari'a. This is the truth.
And please, realise the utter fallacy of your statement when you claim, "Hamas started the war". In recent history, on November 4, when Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, Israel fired into Gaza, threatening to ruin the very sensitive ceasefire. In kind, Hamas returned rocket fire, and has been doing so since.
After the current ceasefire just some weeks prior, Israel has TWO TIMES fired into Gaza.
Your blatant use of propaganda is sickening, "unless you were a coward and wouldn't protect your family" and also riddled with grammatical errors.
It's high time to recognise that Israel is slowly becoming the very Nazi Germany which oppressed its people, considering that they defy U.N. resolutions, has not returned land won in war, has left Palestine with two very small settlements and ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED the rest, and created the largest concentration camp in the world, Gaza. - MrHappyMan, on 01/31/2009, -24/+38Oh children of Israel, why do you punish your brethren?
Whom stood by you and protected you in times of tyranny
Oh children of Israel, surely The Lord weeps to see his first turn to such tyranny
Oh children of Israel, repent for your sins and beg forgiveness for those you have sinned against
Oh children of Israel, surely violence begets violence and peace begets peace
Abandon the way of the sword and embrace your brothers
Do they not, like you, honour the Lord the most of all his creatures?
Oh children of Israel, how you have strayed from the path of righteousness and the commandments of Moses
Did you not learn from the cruelty of Pharoah?
Oh children of Israel, you’ve f*cking disgraced yourselves - Aragatz, on 01/31/2009, -11/+25Maybe Israel will now recognize the Armenian Genocide out of spite to the Turks.
- abdelkareem, on 01/31/2009, -0/+13thanks =)
I copy/pasted this from a Turkish speaker and corrected a few mistakes, didn't catch that - bs0l, on 01/31/2009, -3/+15After he listened to a half hour of their *****, then he began to speak.
Did you watch the video backwards? - MrHappyMan, on 01/31/2009, -1/+13Trust The guardian to put up a decent version of the video. With subtitles.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2009/jan/30/ ... - bde5, on 01/31/2009, -8/+19What I find strange is this constant statement "what would you do if..." You can't base killing of people on "if" and hypothesis. It's comes so childish out of the mouths of those old men. You can be 100% SURE that if that amount of rockets flew into Ankara or Istanbul, Mr. Erdogan would burn and bomb every single centimeter of land the Kurds are on, and believe me nobody would be able to stop it... but that does not change the fact that both problems are major geopolitical riddles that would most positively end in the mass murder of civilians and no real solution. You can't really compare the two conflicts. But I have to give credit on the hypocrisy.
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -17/+28Dump Israel. Or dump them both.
- richmomz, on 02/01/2009, -4/+14Balls. This man has them.
- TwwIX, on 01/31/2009, -11/+21Yo, Israel! Nazi Germany called. They want their shtick back!
- JaseFace, on 01/31/2009, -1/+11"the Turks have nothing"?
Turkey has the 17th biggest economy in the world. - rawnzilla, on 01/31/2009, -4/+14You should read what I wrote to the other self-righteous moron above me. I can't criticize someone because I couldn't do a better job? You know that is ***** and you're just trying to appeal to some sense of moral superiority that you think you have. I hope you never read a book that you don't like because then you will be stuck without an opinion on it unless you can "do a lot better."
- cassedy, on 01/31/2009, -3/+12"the Turks have nothing"
your comment is funny since Turkey has one of the largest armed forces in the world, number one in Europe. Considering Turkey's size and population, it's quite intimidating. - paipiski, on 01/31/2009, -9/+18It takes courage to stand against the Devil Israel.
- vio3, on 01/31/2009, -2/+11Meanwhile people where the bombs landed have no dinner, nor kitchen or dinner table, or chairs or a family to have dinner with anymore. Yet these fools are thinking about their own dinner getting cold, rather than doing something about this mess.
- dstz, on 01/31/2009, -2/+11"We won't even start in on Armenia's children."
Tell me about an important country that doesn't have massacred children at some point of its history. I don't deny that you're a fantastic human being, thinking of the children and all that. I know my country, France, is out already.. even in the last century from Indochina to Algeria, we tortured a lot of people, killed quite a bit of civilians so we can't make any moral statement ever anymore. Who wants to play? - Shakermaker, on 01/31/2009, -4/+13I'd walk out too if I wasn't allowed to speak...
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -11/+19Hypocrisy? My ass. Turkey hasn't even killed 1/10 of the civilians that Israel has (probably closer to 1/25). They have not engaged in a full-scale assault on the Kurds and attempted a mass murder and then acted as if nothing had happened.
Israel is a terrorist state, pure and simple. - JaseFace, on 01/31/2009, -1/+8Huh? What are you talking about? Turkey was more "America's Bitch" during the cold war, particularly the 80s, when the military junta was in power. It showed a lot of courage and independence by refusing to allow the US army to enter Iraq through the north by way of Turkey, as Bush wanted to do.
- burketo, on 01/31/2009, -4/+11do seriously think what turkey did there is the same as what israel has been doing to the palestinians since the 40's?
get a clue! - WordsnCollision, on 01/31/2009, -51/+58The children of Kurdistan also wanted to walk out, but they couldn't because they are dead. We won't even start in on Armenia's children. The hypocrisy is strong in this one.
- graeh, on 01/31/2009, -6/+13because massive swatches of the US population claim the US is a country based on religious mythology from the area of israel, and feel that they are spiritally tied to the jewish people (gods chosen people) and share an enshrined holy mandate to ... do stuff... past and "to come" with the jewish people and in that area. Supporting israel is holding back the arab hordes from decimating the holy land. !
- JaseFace, on 01/31/2009, -3/+10Eh, that issue is so complicated. It probably was genocide, but it wasn't in the same vein as something like Pol Pot or the holocaust. The Armenians were waging an insurgent war against the Ottomans at the time. It wasn't all that different from what the French did in Algeria, or what the US did in Vietnam, just on a wider scale.
- richmomz, on 02/01/2009, -1/+7We hide in the corner and act like nothing happened, of course.
- inactive, on 02/01/2009, -3/+9Turkey is Muslim and the US senate is full of you know, Liebermans and what not. Israel wins even when its wrong.
- powatom, on 01/31/2009, -3/+9Ghettos, seizing of land, MURDER, control of movements, cutting off power and controlling fuel and food. Should I continue? I'm no apologist for Hamas - they're a bunch of ***** too - but you can hardly paint the Palestinians as the bad guys in this ***** mess.
- burkay, on 02/01/2009, -0/+6@solid12345
You are either extremely ignorant, or a separatist Kurd. All of your claims are false. Not a single truth exists in your whole paragraph.
* Who needs Turkey? The whole region needs Turkey. Turkey is the necessary link between the west and the east. between the christians and the muslims. Turkey is the term with the largest coefficient in the middle east equation.
* Israelis are secretly training Kurds? Then I guess you are either one of those trained or the trainers. In other words, you are either an Israeli agent (which doesn't look possible considering your extremely low intelligence level) or a Kurdish separatist terrorist. In both cases your oh-so-mighty secret is revealed to the whole world by one stupid you.
* the Turks have nothing? Seriously, I don't even know how one can answer this. Plain ignorance is quite hard to counter.
* no major resources? yeah yeah, three major coast lines, one extremely important sea pass (Istanbul) connecting Aegan Sea and the Black Sea a.k.a. Russia, numerous ancient sites including 5000 year old artifacts, the largest army in the region, over 70 million people, numerous rivers with largest water flow in the region, largest textile firms in Europe and Middle East...
* just rocks and dirt? I will simply ignore this one.
* Kurds have oil? Nope, the Iraqis have the oil, and that oil indirectly belongs to America and Israel. The Kurds just have little brains and a stupid trust for their Israeli-American overlords.
* thirst for gaining respect? how about you start with not being terrorists? killing over 30000 Turks in terror attacks in the last 20 years won't really get you much respect. start educating yourselves and maybe you will have a spot in the table. Behaving like mountain brutes, stealing, killing, and terrorizing wherever you go won't really pay back in respect. - Bkaufman, on 01/31/2009, -26/+32I wonder if the Turks are taking the same measures to try and prevent civilians deaths in their war against terrorism with the Kurds as the Israelis have. The hypocrisy is astounding. To this day, they are still in denial about the Armenian genocide which happened under their watch.
- yatameemra, on 01/31/2009, -4/+10“The Turkish PM stressed later that he had left the debate not because of his disagreements with Mr Peres but because he had been given much less time to speak than the Israeli leader. ”
- KevinRoseMustDy, on 01/31/2009, -10/+16Perhaps America IS Israel?
- arcusxx, on 01/31/2009, -4/+10It's not about being Islamist or pro to any religion. It is about humanity. I believe all religion meant to be peaceful, just like a recipe book - perfect. But, what make them tastes different? The cook, In this case, it's the people fault, not the religion.
- hadessniper, on 01/31/2009, -4/+10But did your country attempt a genocide complete with death marches and gang rapes, and then deny any of it ever happened? If the German government came out publicly today and said that what happened to the Jews in WWII wasn't really genocide what do you think would happen, and yet people have no problem with Turkey denying its genocide.
- scamper22, on 01/31/2009, -2/+7Except Erdogan has done a lot to try and resolve the Kurdish issue.
He has done more for Kurds than any other Turkish leader. He actually won more than half the Kurdish vote. He has pledged billions to help the impoverish Kurish regions. Is the situation perfect? No... but he is certainly on the track to improve the situation. So what hypocrisy are you talking about? -
