awwww poor cute innocent harmless religion - jmkiii, on 10/12/2007, -5/+54Pope Palpatine will not tolerate dissent.
You have been warned. - polyGone, on 10/12/2007, -7/+52Telling little kids that they will burn forever is terrorism.

"The Pope says he doesn't believe in evolution. I agree, in fact the Church has never evolved,"
'Nuff said - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -25/+58Wana' know a true "TERRORIST"?
...a man in fancy garb and dunce cap who preaches death, destruction and end times to millions of people on almost every corner of America plauged in delusion!
Religion is the most dangerous thing to the good will and progression in the evolution of mankind.
Anyone who believes otherwise is either A. A Brainwashed fundy nutjob or B. Not paying attention
that simple - oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34the word "terrorism" officially means nothing now. absolutely nothing.
- FieldAnonymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33They say that if you use a word often enough that it begins to lose meaning. Honestly I think "terrorist" and "terrorism" are heading down the road of meaninglessness. They get thrown around at the drop of a hat. A kid makes maps of his school and is called a terrorist, the Vatican paper calls a comedian a terrorist, harmless glowing signs and traffic counters are considered acts of terrorism!
When you think about it, does the word terrorist have any real meaning anymore? - Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -14/+46Haha, the Religion of Peace is at it again!
- IrishJoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30As a practicing and life-long Roman Catholic I find this deeply offensive. I read the remarks the man made about refusal to have a Catholic funeral for a disabled man who asked to have his life support cut off but approval to hold Catholic funerals for bloodthirsty dictators like Augusto Pinochet and Francisco Franco who murdered thousands if not tens of thousands of their own people for the sin of disagreeing with them. His other comment was that Pope doesn’t believe in evolution because the Church has not evolved: an ironic but not terrorist comment.
When He walked the Earth, Jesus stood up to and challenged the religious leaders of His day: the Sanhedrin which was composed of the Chief Priest and the other leading Pharisees. More and more the Vatican is modeling their behavior not on that of Christ, but on those who had Him crucified. The Pope and the Vatican have become the Chief Priest and the Pharisees of today.
As a Roman Catholic that saddens me deeply.
Oh, and I am now a terrorist in the eyes of my Church for having said this. - MadMaxx426, on 10/12/2007, -8/+34No No No!!
Christianity is the religion of tolerance, unless you're gay...or islamic. Or jewish, can't forget them.
Now, Jesus said thou sha---
**Please deposit 5$ for the next 3 minutes of sermon. Your entrance into heaven is guaranteed, act now!** - luksy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22The editor of the Osservatore is directly nominated by the Pope himself, I would say that the Vatican has a certain degree of control over what it does and doesn't say. Good point however
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26No no no. Islam is the Religion of Peace. Christianity is the Religion of Love, Tolerance and Forgiveness.
- DeFex, on 10/12/2007, -12/+32HAHAHAHAHA "irrational"
thats funny coming from people who think you could populate an entire planet from a man and a woman made from part of that man. - Barlo_Mung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18..."and warned his rhetoric could fuel a return to 1970s-style political violence..."
I was expecting them to say it could bring the return of 1400s-style violence. - MadMaxx426, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Shhhh.... they don't talk about that. It never happened, everyone was just on vacation. Next topic.
- u0107, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20The first page of the Bible says that Sun and the Moon were created on the third day.
Wondering how the Day 1 and Day 2 ended when there was no Sun and the Moon......? - Codename, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14So that means what Jack Thompson is doing "Terrorism", awsome.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14just this reason? I got loads more if you want them
- BooostedAWD, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16WHAT THE HELL?!?
Sorry, it just frustrates me that EVERYTHING ANYBODY does since 9/11/01 is call ANYTHING and EVERYTHING terrorism!
" 'Dear, Little Johnny wet the bed.' 'OMFG, there's only one explanation... TERRORISTS!' "
It's getting ridiculous and I for one, am sick of hearing about it.
hehe, I call terrorism on you, Mr. Pope! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"At the concert, held every year in front of the Saint John in Lateran basilica -- Rome's cathedral where Pope Benedict sits as bishop -- one of the presenters, Andrea Rivera, spoke out against the Pontiff's stand on a number of issues."
Someone please bring His Holiness up to speed on current events. It's not terrorism unless a Muslim, or someone of Arab descent, does it. - luther70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Its the new communist.
- chrismgtis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The Pope has had far far more power than has ever made sense for over a thousand years. It never made sense. People are just too stupid to stand up to the church and take away it's power.
- xutopia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I was a fervent Roman Catholic once. I did volunteer work, even seated on my parish council that is until I gave it all up because it was impossible for me to believe that religion wasn't man made.
- ThisIsBob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12***** the pope. He's just another god damned religious poobah, who thinks he has it right and straight from god - his god of course, the only true god.

4. anyone who uses sane logic and reasoning to point out the asshatery of the neocons - hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16with this poor cute innocent harmless old man..
http://popejoinsthedarkside.ytmnd.com/ - helinism, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Terrorism against the church, well if everyone is a terrorist these days. What about acts of terrorism committed by the church? Hmm... Catholic terrorism, known globally to boys with sore asses!
- rezist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Your comment is on, except for the part about Jesus. He is simply a combination of many ancient folk tails, he never lived.

As for the holy trinity, the belief that god is equal to jesus, this in itself is blasphemy, as the bible points out god has no equal. So which is it? - Hillsbottom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10The space Pope would never do this
- Authustian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"The latest salvo between the Vatican and its critics in Italy comes a few days after the head of Italy's bishops' conference, Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco, received a bullet in the post after making comments that his critics say compared homosexuality with incest and pedophilia."
And since the church seems to protect it's own from pedophilia charges by transferring priests around so the charges can't stick, it seems to me that statement is tacitly supporting homosexuality.
Let's get a big round of applause for hypocrisies. - jmkiii, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18Religious zealots terrify me, pope.
Who's the terrorist now. - sjug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7People are listening to the pope because...
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@chris
When someone says that their definition of child-abuse includes convincing kids that misbehaviour will result in them burning forever, "I mind my business" is not a valid counterpoint. - BobOki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Its terrorism when aimed at the church, but when the church burns down an abortion clinic, thats "making the world a better and safer place."
Perhaps religion has forgot the crusades, or maybe the Holy Wars...
"blind and irrational rage against someone" like persecution and the Inquisition, right? - nickbender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i'm really beginning to hate that word.
- chrismgtis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9If you don't agree with the Pope's church, you're evil. That is the way his entire church sees it. They have done nothing but seek power for over a thousand years and used that power against anyone that did not agree with their twisted views. If I remember correctly, the church had more power than the King himself in earlier times, or at least had the power to influence the King greatly. That is a bit sad.
- jeremybgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm sick of the word "terrorism". I'm sick of hypocrisy. I'm sick of double standards, and i'm sick of INTOLERANCE.
- biuku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Godwin’s" (new) Law --
As a critique of an entity approaches its zenith, the probability of the critic being labelled a terrorist approaches one. - Fields987, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The Pope is a narrow-minded, intolerant bastard. I am a catholic, but this guy is driving me away from the church like I never thought possible. He'd ***** all over Vatican II if he didn't think the church would start to lose millions of dollars every year. How can anyone claim to always speak in the name of love, and then turn around and start condemning people for their personal choices. If we are going to be judged, its going to be done by God. Not the pope. He's just as much at fault for condemning homosexuality, abortion, stem cell research, (Not to mention a recent Ron Howard movie) as the people that are gay, the people that receive and preform abortions, the scientists that use stem cells for research, and the Hollywood directors for portraying Jesus as a less divine entity than the church would want you to believe.
Matthew 7:1-2 1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." - adent1066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms..."
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Execute Order 66
- davesbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Why does everything these days need to be "terrorism?" They're going to use that word so much that nobody will pay attention when it's used. Perhaps that's the point.
- smek2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+520.000 People were killed, mostly woman, because church declared them witches. Just one example of what i call terror. Those 20.000 executions happened only a couple of hundred years ago. The last execution of a "witch" was 1775, thats a mere 232 years ago. Believe me, i just had to write a history exam on this topic, and when you want terror, look no further than the catholic church during the middle ages and the modern period.
- hjduk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Catholic Church sure is hypocritical. How about the f**king crusades, and the inquisition, and covering up kiddie fiddler priests.
Organised Religion is for the stupid, ignorant and the brainwashed.
What we need more of is science! :) - underthelinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5they were invited. tea was served.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12Well, maybe the Pope speaks of love for man, but those pedophile priests definitely have a love for boys.
- xutopia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Religion is man made. That is why it is so irrational.
- greymaxcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You are right about the silly hats...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@luksy
You're right, I should have been more clear.
However, I've been hearing noises that the dissatisfaction is spreading beyond the West. I hope this is true, as I'm not a fan of the Pope = Infallible doctrine myself. Any undermining of that particular tenet isn't really a bad thing to me.
Edit: I see my original comment is being dugg down already. I'm sorry people, I forgot to mention religion in a horribly biased and negative light. I forgot that we have only certain viewpoints that are permissible here. - Andronicus1717, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Besides heretics and witches?
