The State of Israel is not our friend. Visit the country as a Non Jew American, and you will see exactly how they feel about us there. We are seen as nothing more than a tool to be used.
Look a the current war, I'm pretty sure the death toll we've experienced is FAR greater than that of the Israeli people. Why? Aren't we there now to keep them from sustaining a nuclear attack, or some other catastrophe? Our sons and daughter's are dying to protect a country that spies on us. Way to stay classy Republican's, we're there because of you. - pintomp3, on 12/31/2008, -4/+60and there would be some terrorism charges thrown in.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -9/+58If the Israeli government SHOULD have turned this guy in the US authorities immediately. This illustrates that Israel has no loyalty to the US, even though the the US has ALWAYS provided Israel unequivocal support. What do you bet Israel continues to steal classified material from the US today? When a former Israeli soldier, Rahm Emanuel is the chief-of-staff of the President of the United States, it is pretty damn likely.

- InfamousAtheist, on 12/31/2008, -7/+40Yeah, that'll be the day. I'd love to see our government withhold some funds or military equipment from Israel, but with current attitudes and the "anti-semite" ace in the hole, the chances of that actually happening are next to nothing.
- anarcurt, on 12/31/2008, -3/+35It seems that most of the spies that have been caught are spying for Israel. You hear about it every few months. These guys are a bigger threat than Iran, with an existing, illegal nuclear arsenal. If we were to bomb anyone it should be Israel (though I am opposed to interventionalism and just present it as a point).
Also, anyone who holds dual citizenship with any other country should be barred from serving the country in any capacity. There has been many people who have been in positions of high security that have held dual citizenship. As an example Paul Wolfowitz. Dual citizen of Israel. Deputy Secretary of Defense during the early part of W's administration. This guy set out the plan to invade Iraq. Tell me how his conflict of interest didn't play a part in that decision. - Aggaman, on 12/31/2008, -4/+34Hey, the US just got violently cornholed by a friend and did nothing. Now, Israel being one of our TOP 'allies' one may think this is a bit strange. o_O
I wonder how many Israeli spies they have working inside of Hamas.. I really can't fathom any other reason for some of Hamas' actions besides them having high level Israeli agents trying to stir stuff up from within.

Well, Israel has already done that -- long ago -- and Israel's cheerleaders here in America just turned a blind eye to it then as they still do. Thirty-four dead U.S. servicemen, directly and purposefully killed by the Israelis in a blatant attack against an American ship, and brain-dead, authoritarian-minded American drones simply don't give a ***** (if they're even aware of it) because the Israelis can apparently do no wrong as far as they're concerned. I guess they care more about Israel than their own troops...
Yep, I'm talking about the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty. Quite an inconvenient truth for the Zionists who walk among us. Predictably, the US government has helped to cover up and smooth over the incident over the years, but there are plenty of first-hand accounts of the situation that haven't been fully sanitized (yet).
Just google it and familiarize yourself with this event if you weren't already aware of it. Here's a starting point, although I imagine it's been heavily whitewashed (just like the official reports):

***** Israel and all Zionists, no matter what their nationality is. - kronix2, on 12/31/2008, -5/+29If the CIA was caught spying on Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia or Canada (all of whom are part of an extensive intelligence network, with the US), it would be a major international scandal.
- zsavior, on 12/31/2008, -7/+30And so what if the USA does spy on France and such? What does this have to do with Israel spying on the USA and taking her secrets? I tell you what NOTHING, it is an argument that a child brings when his parent tells him not to do something. But But Jimmy's mom lets him do it!
It just shows you USA has no control over Israel and is getting baited by lobbyist, and money to continue that countries actions. I really don't care who Israel shoots at, I am just tired of being linked to a country that brings her problems here, while spying on us and not giving a damn thing back. Keep backing Israel till the day she turns her weapons towards the united states, like every other Middle Eastern "ally" has. Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, seems Americans never heard that quote. - brickbat, on 12/31/2008, -8/+29Actually, the U.S. spies on all of it's allies and they spy on the U.S. but it's not what you think. They spy on each other and then pass the information across to each other. It's the way they get around each others constitutional and human rights laws. The UK spies on the U.S. and then hands over any relevant data straight back to the U.S. government. The U.S. didn't spy on it's own people and they have all the data they need. Game Set Match. This has been going on for decades. Its what Echelon is all about.

Here are my questions to you...
Was it ok for Russia to send in armies when Georgia pissed them off?
Was it ok for China to block media coverage in Tibet when there was the infamous riot?
Oh and how many people died in Georgia and Tibet? Do they even add up to half of what Israeli has done in Gaza? - orion846, on 12/31/2008, -2/+20i like the part where the 2nd page has one line.
- pintomp3, on 12/31/2008, -4/+21right, israel just happens to be the largest recipient of US foreign aid despite having a small population and relative wealth.
- eurodele, on 12/31/2008, -7/+23The problem is, whenever Israel steals a weapon from the US, it doesn't content itself with using that weapon only for self-defense. Instead, it does what it's doing now: it uses the weapon, and/or threatens to use it, in another act of naked aggression against its "enemies".
Sadly, because Israel is founded on racist principles - only ethnic Jews need apply for citizenship - its enemies can include any race belonging to the "goyim", i.e., any non-Jews, whom Israel officially considers inferior to Jews. (Judaism is the state religion of Israel, and the Talmud, a compendium of Jewish wisdom considered by many Jews to be the holiest book of all, makes it clear that if you're not Jewish, then you're pretty much subhuman, your one and only purpose on earth being to worship and serve Jews.) There is no symmetry here; Israel's state religion tells it to brutalize Christians in Palestine and even treat Christian tourists like dirt, but returning the abuse is against the central principles of the Christian faith.
As generations of Zionist lawyers have aggressively done their part to ensure the separation of church and state here in the US, the state religion of Israel has merely displaced Christianity as our governing set of moral principles. As Christian nativity scenes are all but excluded from
public display, the Jewish extremists of Chabad Lubavitch snuggle up to US presidents right in the White House. That's a real shame for most of us, insofar as because of it, we no longer qualify for the love of God, the control of our own government, or even the status of full human beings. Our moral status is now that of cattle to be milked to death, and of course, used as cannon fodder in wars based on various ancient racial and religious grudges dear to the hearts of Zionists everywhere.
This alone makes it clear that no Israeli or Zionist should be allowed within a hundred miles of any secure US facility. Yet the current US administration is crawling with ratlike "dual citizens" whose primary allegiance is to Israel, not the United States, and president-elect Obama has already shown a penchant for exactly the same kind of divided loyalty. It seems that the US government is completely corrupt, and that Israel is a large part of the reason.
The sad news for Israel, and the good news for most Americans, including non-Zionists of Jewish heritage, is that the people are now awakening to this fact in droves. - JavanSClark, on 12/31/2008, -3/+19Untrue, I visited Israel, while in the Navy during Desert Storm, and have never been made to feel less welcome anywhere in my life.

Of course, it is them selling widgets to us instead and on top of that they own a lot of our debt due to their financing of our war in Iraq.

They're spying on us in order to get some heads up in case our support cuts off. They'll need time to implement contingency plans. Having information on hand that'll help make those decisions is crucial to them.
- EarlOfLade, on 12/31/2008, -7/+18There is death penalty for treason, isn't it?
Handling over classified material to a foreign power is espionage and during times of war or military actions, treason. The US was in war in Korea in the fifties so this could be considered treason and he should get the death penalty.
And he would have gotten it if the co8untry had been any country but Israel, but the terrorist state of Israel is of course buddies with the US fascists. - TheSwashbuckler, on 12/31/2008, -5/+15They trust us, they trust us to have really good stuff they want to steal!

- Warom, on 12/31/2008, -6/+15I would just like to say that a country like Israel which has the highest technology in the world and can have hundreds of spies in America can not stop Hamas from producing rockets, if there are spies in the US then I assume that there are thousands in Gaza. I do not believe that an organisation like Hamas could smuggle/produce these hundreds - if not thousands - of rockets and shoot them into Israel. I think that Hamas has outside help and not trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist but these rocket attacks are lowering support for Hamas, making them look weaker and is killing their men at increibly high speeds. The only country that is seeing an advantage to these rocket attacks is Israel - now they can freely attack Gaza with not one country telling them to stop.

- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -3/+11On the morning of June 8, 1967, the Middle East Control Group at the White House was considering Israel's appeal to the US for delivery of 84 A-4 jets. So, in order to seal the deal and convince the US to send them the planes, the Israelis attacked a US warship. Oh, those tricky, tricky Israelis.
At 11:24 on June 8, 1967, a terrific explosion rocked al-'Arish's beaches, when an ammunition dump exploded. At the time, Israeli observers noted two naval vessels offshore. They concluded that Egyptian ships were shelling them, as had taken place on June 7 -- according to both Israeli and Egyptian reports.
Shortly after that, the Liberty reached the eastern edge of its patrol zone and turned back toward of Port Said. All the while, Yitzchak Rabin, the Israel Defense Force's Commander-in-Chief, was concerned with intelligence reports he had received that an Egyptian amphibious landing near Gaza was expected. Orders to attack any unidentified ships in the war zone were reiterated. At 13:41, an Israeli torpedo boat sighted an unidentified ship northeast of al-'Arish. It appeared that this ship had shelled Israeli troops and was returning to an Egyptian base. Torpedo boats gave chase, but it was concluded that they would not be able to overtake the ship before it reached Egypt. The IAF (Israeli Air Force) was called in. The leader of the IAF squadron was notified that there were Israeli torpedo ships in the vicinity, and was cleared to attack any ships in the area that could not be ascertained to be Israeli.
At the same time that the leader of the IAF squadron was cleared to attack any ships in the area that could not be identified as Israeli -- 13:54 -- an IAF controller said, "What's this, Americans?" He later explained that he had a gut feeling that Egypt would have sent more than one boat to shell al-'Arish. When another controller asked, "Americans, where?" the first controller didn't respond or clarify.
The leader of the IAF squadron descended to 3,000 feet to make "an identification pass" over the ship. Other than some black letters on the hull, he saw no other identifying features. The ship's deck had not been painted with a blue-and-white cross, as had been done with all Israeli vessels. The pilot concluded that this was a "Z" (Hunt-class) destroyer. His plane was armed only with cannons, so he requested that Mirage jets armed with bombs be dispatched. (American sailors dispute the Israeli assertion that an identification pass had been made, and say it immediately dove.) At 13:57, the Mirages began to attack. 30-mm cannon shells strafed the deck lengthwise. The ship's antennae were severed. Oil drums were set on fire. Nine men were killed instantly.
Three strafing runs were made. More than 800 holes were later counted in the hull. The IAF squadron leader reported that the ship was purposely putting smoke out of the smokestack, for concealment. The Mirages ran out of ammunition and flew off. They were replaced with a squadron of Mysteres, armed with napalm (ill-suited for naval warfare), which they dropped on the ship. Seconds later, much of the Liberty's bridge and deck were covered by smoke.
The Mysteres were ready to attack again, but the Israeli navy, concerned about the Liberty's lack of defensive anti-aircraft fire, warned that the target might be an Israeli vessel. The pilots were told that if there was any doubt about the ship's identification, "don't attack." The navy contacted all Israeli ships in the area. None reported being attacked from the air. The pilots were authorized to resume the attack, and told, "You can sink it," after another identification pass was made over the ship. They were ordered, "Look for a flag... See if they can identify [the ship] with a flag."
While looking for identification, one pilot radioed, "There's no flag on her." He reported that he saw the letter "P," then corrected himself, "Pay attention. The ship's markings are Charlie-Tango-Romeo-five." He was immediately ordered, "Leave her." Egyptian warships were almost always marked with Arabic characters.
News of this terrified Israeli officers at central command. Rabin feared that the ship was Russian, and that Israel had just provided Moscow with a pretext to enter the war. Rabin took command of the situation, and sent two helicopters to look for survivors who may have jumped overboard. He ordered the torpedo boats, still in pursuit, to remain at a safe distance from the ship.
The torpedo squadron leader said he never received this order (though it appeared on his ship's logbook). He paused his approach, and scrutinized the ship from a distance of 6,000 meters (3.7 miles). He could see that the ship was not a destroyer, but concluded that it was likely a freighter that had serviced the destroyer that was presumed to have shelled the soldiers at al-'Arish or was evacuating Egyptian soldiers from the beach. Consulting his intelligence manual, he saw that the ship's silhouette resembled that of the Egyptian supply ship El Quseir. (The captains of the other two torpedo ships reached the same conclusion independently.) He tried to signal the ship, requesting identification. Receiving no response, the torpedo ships went into battle formation.
As the formation neared the Liberty, the Liberty received a response to its distress signals from the aircraft carrier, USS America, which was in the middle of a strategic exercise. The planes on its deck were armed with nuclear weapons, and there was no time to replace them with conventional ones. Eight F-4s took off in the direction of the Sinai coast. Minutes later, they were recalled by Vice Admiral Martin. He suspected that the Liberty's attackers were Russians, and he was not going to risk starting a nuclear war without authorization from superiors.
American help never came for the Liberty. The men on the Liberty were ordered not to fire on the approaching torpedo boats. One sailor failed to hear the order, and opened fire with one of the ship's four machine guns. Another machine gun also fired, set off by exploding ammunition. The torpedo ships believed that they were being fired on by an Egyptian vessel. The squadron leader requested permission to return fire. After several minutes, he received it. Five torpedoes were fired at the Liberty. Only one hit the target - a direct hit on the starboard side, and killed 25 men.
The IAF liaison to the navy reported, "It's an Egyptian supply boat." The Israeli helicopters were ordered to continue their rescue mission, but to use caution while doing so. The command was, "Tell the helicopters that they aren't Americans, they're Egyptians ... Tell [Israeli forces] at al-'Arish, that Egyptian sailors are arriving from the sea, from a boat that [the navy] sank."
But the Israelis had not sunk the Liberty. The torpedo boats closed in on the Liberty, and raked its hull -- along with life boats according to the crew -- with cannon and machine guns. A raft was picked up by one of the Israeli boats and was found to bear US Navy markings. One ship circled the Liberty and saw the marking, "GRT-5." Attempts to contact the Liberty by megaphone went unanswered. It took another half-hour to establish the Liberty's identity. 35,000 feet above the battle zone, a US EC121M reconnaissance airplane picked up the torpedo boats' signals. A Hebrew speaker on the EC121M alerted his commander, "I've got some really odd activity on UHF. They mentioned an American flag."
When word of the Liberty's identity reached the general staff, they were already considering the possibility of Russian reprisals. In the words of Chief-of-Staff Yitzchak Rabin, "I must admit I had mixed feelings about the news--profound regret at having attacked our friends and a tremendous sense of relief [that the boat was not Soviet]." An apology was immediately sent to the US authorities. Meanwhile, a fleet of American fighter jets, carrying conventional weapons, had been dispatched from the aircraft carrier Saratoga. The pilots were authorized to "use whatever force is necessary to protect the USS Liberty," but were warned not to fly too close to the coast or to pursue attacking aircraft.
The US jets were called back by Vice Admiral Martin. The only aircraft to reach the Liberty were two IAF helicopters. One helicopter was waved off. The other helicopter was unable to land due to darkness. The Israelis broke off contact with the Liberty by 17:05, as it staggered out to sea, with 34 dead and 171 wounded on board.
About two hours later, President Johnson received a cable, informing him that the Liberty, "... located 60-100 miles north of Egypt," had been torpedoed by an unknown vessel. Johnson immediately assumed that the Soviets were involved, and, in order to avoid further escalation, placed a call on the hot line to the Kremlin, advising them of the attack and of the dispatch of the Saratoga's jets.
After about two more hours, the Israeli Embassy in Washington confirmed what it termed as a "mistaken action." An official letter of apology promptly followed. Johnson's immediate reaction was relief that the USSR had not been involved, the same reaction as Rabin's. The US government expressed thanks to the Israelis for the candor of their notification. The Israeli Prime Minister and Foreign Minister wired the US government, expressing mortification and grief at the accident, expressing sympathy to the bereaved families. Within 48 hours, the Israeli government offered to compensate the casualties. $12 million was paid over time.
While Israel could have easily sunk the Liberty, it had not. It ceased firing the moment the mistake in identity was realized, and offered to help the ship. Arab and Soviet commentators asserted that the Liberty had been spying for the Israelis, and had only been attacked in error.
[NOTE: All of the material above has been extracted and condensed from "Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East, by Michael B. Oren]
The U.S. Naval Court of Inquiry said "available evidence combines to indicate [that the attack was] a case of mistaken identity."
The CIA report said "The attack was not made in malice toward the US and was by mistake, but the failure of the IDF Headquarters and the attacking aircraft to identify the Liberty and the subsequent attack by torpedo boats were both incongruous and indicative of gross negligence."
The Clark Clifford Report said "The unprovoked attack on the Liberty constitutes a flagrant act of gross negligence for which the Israeli Government should be held completely responsible, and the Israeli military personnel involved should be punished."
The above sources are from the United States government after they investigated the USS Liberty fiasco and concluded that it was a case of "friendly fire." - pintomp3, on 12/31/2008, -1/+9mike: i take it by your response that you would have no problem with iran stealing our military secrets. good to know you are so open minded.
