- pintomp3, on 01/27/2009, -0/+29I'm getting an economic stimulus just thinking about it.
- sarazen, on 01/26/2009, -2/+27'vigorous diplomacy', Lovely phrase, and it can be taken is so many different ways...
- KimmyGibbler, on 01/27/2009, -3/+15"vigorous diplomacy" sounds so 1984. I don't even think originators of the phrase know what it exactly means; a beautiful example of double-speak
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -5/+16There is no reason the US and Iran can't be friends. We used to have a very close relationship with Iran, until the CIA ***** them over.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -6/+16Obama has real worldwide credibility and is in the "Honeymoon" phase of his Presidency. Iran can't ignore or snub him right now, but the question is will Obama expend political capital on the Iranian problem when he has so many other issues to deal with?
Iran's foreign policy should be to lay low until Obama's credibility and popularity ebb, then go back to doing whatever they want.
US Policy should be to pursue real concessions asap, strike while the iron is hot, so to speak - IphtashuFitz, on 01/27/2009, -1/+11Fog: We're sending somebody in to negotiate!
[Corben walks into the room and shoots Aknot between the eyes. As he falls, the other Mangalores drop their weapons and bow over him, keening]
Korben Dallas: Anybody else want to negotiate?
Fog: Wh-where did he learn to n-negotiate like that?
President Lindberg: [looking at General Munro] I wonder. - inactive, on 01/27/2009, -0/+9You mean Persians. Iran is not Arabian.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -3/+12"Vigorous Diplomacy" is NewSpeak for "threaten to obliterate if they do not obey".
- lovek, on 01/27/2009, -0/+7Have you ever been to the World Championships? Those bitches can darn some stockings!
- sockpuppets, on 01/27/2009, -0/+7We just made the country next to his into New Texas, he's probably pretty aware of our "teeth."
- bigp3rm, on 01/27/2009, -2/+8aletoledo do you really know anything about this world?

- hamobu, on 01/27/2009, -1/+7Iran is really not a nuclear power
- viserov, on 01/27/2009, -0/+6Big badda-boom!
- Shendare, on 01/27/2009, -0/+6You call this a diplomatic solution?
No, I call it aggressive negotiation! - persianpeace, on 01/27/2009, -2/+7I guess if US stops giving Israel F16s, Apaches, Phosphor bombs, etc, ... we could all be friends...
- phrenzy, on 01/27/2009, -2/+7Now, suck my *****.
- seltaeb4, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6I accidentally the political shakedown.
- 1337Einstein, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5That's what she said.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5So your approach then, is what? Preemptively launch a war because you assume that diplomacy is not going to work? Frankly, I've never understood what the fuss is about - even if diplomacy fails, I don't see how it hurts our military stance should the need arise.
- PabloMac, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5That's too darn funny!
- IphtashuFitz, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass!
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 01/27/2009, -6/+10Enjoy your vigorous talks, but remember keep your big stick handy.
- awtripp, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4Ahmadinejad isn't even the real ruler of Iran. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is actually in the position of Supreme Ruler of Iran. The president is essentially just a puppet of the Supreme Ruler.
The presidential candidates in Iran must be approved by the Council of Guardians -- all of whose members are directly and indirectly appointed by the Supreme Ruler.
The Supreme Ruler also makes all big decisions in Iran -- including declaring war and commanding troops. - NotAChickenHawk, on 01/27/2009, -4/+8Wrong. When the leaders of said other country threatens to wipe off the map us and our allies, its very much our business if they have nuclear weapons or not.
- dkapuchino, on 01/27/2009, -1/+5Well... Israel exists. that alone is enough for Iran to hate them.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -3/+7Google it you stupid mother *****.
- awtripp, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4I always use big stick diplomacy. Gets right past the talking and down to business.
- ladyattis, on 01/27/2009, -1/+5With their being bases surrounding Iran that are US controlled, this is more than a vigorous talking to, rather it's an ultimatum by an empire.
- Lockean, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3You should read an actual translation of that statement sometime. He says he would wipe the territory of Israel from the map, meaning the state of Israel would not exist and would return it to Arab rule. He was not suggesting the murder of every human in the Levant. They don't inherantly hate Jews (there are many living in Iran, in fact), they just hate Israeli belligerence and policy. I don't think letting them develop a weapons program is a good idea but don't regurgitate lies and propoganda as fact in attempt to justify military involvement. We did that just a few short years ago and look where that got us.
- brettg102, on 01/27/2009, -3/+6Officially, Israel is not a nuclear power. Unofficially however, well, that's another story.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3"Furious Diplomacy"
- ileftfark, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4I can't for the political shakedown.
- katorga, on 01/27/2009, -9/+12I'm sure Iran will vigorously continue to ignore us too. How long have they been internationally sanctioned now? 12 years? 20 Years? How many years have they ignored diplomacy? And why would they submit in any fashion to infidel states? Do they even care if the US president is "popular" or not?
- fugazied, on 01/27/2009, -2/+5Talking to them is more likely to get results than Bush portraying Iranian leaders as 'the devil' and 'pure evil' when they visitied the US. The devil, seriously this ***** is sickening, US leaders calling a leader of a foreign country satan because they aren't subservient to US demands for oil. I guess Bush was trying to get the evangelicals on board for more death in the middle east with an invasion of Iran to find more mystical WMDs. Talking to them rationally is more likely to get results. Israel invading Gaza would have Iran in a ***** mood though.
- yosserhughes, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2You forgot to mention that you robbed the mans house and raped his daughter.
- yosserhughes, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3In order to understand why the people of Iran are so distrustful of the west, and especialy the US, you have to go back to Operation Ajax in 1953.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d'% ...
If another country did to the US what the US did to Iran, we would be a tad pissed off as well. - PizzaEagle, on 01/27/2009, -1/+3They say you should speak softly and carry a big stick
- pigfister, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2but it is though solid, just ask ppl that live in Argentina, Afghanistan, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, St Kitts, Grenada, Indonesia, Cuba, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho(Lesoto), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Kongo, Nigiria, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Western Sahara, Lybia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemin, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Achaea, Cambodia, East Timor, laos, or The Philippines!
- sodade, on 01/27/2009, -8/+10Gee, don't be surprised if they ask for a public apology for overthrowing their democratically elected secular government. Of course, arrogant america will decline to do so and the ***** will go on and on and on.
- sodade, on 01/27/2009, -3/+5Apologize and offer to make restitution for the ass raping US foreign policy of the last 60 years?
- nbluth, on 01/27/2009, -2/+4lol seriously? or am I missing the /s?
- akamurph, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2America didn't give a ***** what was going on in other countries in the 40's, look where that got America.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -2/+4Why do the Persians have such a hard-on for the Jews? Constant propaganda about the holocaust myth, Israel the occupier state, the Protocols of Zion, the eternal Jew, the Jews run America.
- fugazied, on 01/27/2009, -4/+6Wait, when Iranian leaders visited the US last year and gave talks at a US university that was them 'ignoring' the US? The US didn't ignore them I guess, calling the Iranian leader 'Evil' and 'The devil'. It's obvious you don't know jack ***** about the situation.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -1/+3This is true, but Obama wants another war and this is the way to get it. For ***** sake he allowed the bombing of a soverign Pakistan and went about it like nothing happened. They dont even care to try and hide it anymore.
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -4/+6Yeah. Israel came THIS close to tricking the stupid idiot W into attacking Iran. Now they are bummed, because Obama will not do their bidding any more.
- hamobu, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2what is the point you are trying to make?
