- scabbers, on 12/02/2007, -7/+385Using that argument, France can kidnap Bush and Cheney and put them on trial for war crimes.
- cyclades, on 12/02/2007, -11/+348Other countries better start passing laws declaring that any acts by the US of this nature is an act of war.
- Spamcan, on 12/02/2007, -4/+309I predict Operation: Piss Off What Few Allies We Have Left will be a huge success. Why do they even bother trying to justify this ***** anymore?
- Rotzooi, on 12/02/2007, -5/+231
*Knock knock*
"Who's there?"
"Fascism!" - zappo1776, on 12/02/2007, -15/+233I've heard they're very polite and make good slaves.
- hdar3415, on 12/02/2007, -15/+203America, "The Police State". This better hit front page!
- PSWTyrant, on 12/02/2007, -15/+168Insanity. Impeachment now!
- ZenMojo, on 12/02/2007, -2/+134Either you're with us, or we'll kidnap your citizens and send them to other countries to be tortured and imprisoned indefinitely.
- bitcloud, on 12/02/2007, -2/+129For the love of god make it happen...
I'll be eating French Freedom Fries for weeks to celebrate - PistolSO, on 12/02/2007, -3/+126You know we went to war with Britain when they did that to us before the War of 1812.
- culley, on 12/02/2007, -1/+100You wanna know the worst thing related to this story, the USA can extradite British citizens back to the USA for trail after the UK & USA signed an agreement but the USA would only sign it one way, meaning they won't send American citizens over the the UK for trail, now that is ***** up!!!
- jiggelo, on 12/02/2007, -2/+99This is ridicu - osht someone is here
- Ksg89, on 12/02/2007, -4/+93Wish they would...
- thomasprebble, on 12/02/2007, -2/+85We're all terrorists according to Bush.
- wowsah156, on 12/02/2007, -3/+76This just proves that the America is becoming a Nazi like illegal state operating beyond any international law or consensus. America is lost.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -0/+65Hypothetical: what happens if an American accused of a crime against sharia law - say, blaspheming Mohammed on Fox News - is abducted (sorry, "bounty hunted") from Times Square by agents of a middle-eastern regime?
- keyme, on 12/02/2007, -0/+64This is insane. The current US govt. must be stopped ASAP.
- ManicA, on 12/02/2007, -2/+63And we're told (in the UK) that these guys are our allies?
Is it time to start crippling America's economy (more so) from the outside so Bush et al. will STFU? - inactive, on 12/02/2007, -4/+59I don't think the UK wants American citizens, to be honest...
- Wacer, on 12/02/2007, -2/+57Its OK that the US kidnaps whoever they want because they are true criminals. Don't believe me? Just ask Albert Gonzales. .. Oh Wait.
- sonycam, on 12/02/2007, -0/+55I'm not one of those brits who bash the americans all the time, but this is ***** and a perfect example of why america gets tagged as thinking they own the world.
It doesn't matter if the crime if pretty much definite, it's about going through the proper protocols and respecting other countries rights. Plus foreign policies should be reciprocated and last I checked, we're not allowed to kidnap US citizens. Get it sorted out! - geekchic, on 12/02/2007, -3/+58We also make lousy coffee though - so it migth be a bit of a pyrrhic victory for you ;)
- Haecceity, on 12/02/2007, -1/+51Or you're with us, AND we'll kidnap your citizens and send them to other countries to be tortured and imprisoned indefinitely.
- bitcloud, on 12/02/2007, -4/+51The ***** "world police state"...
and don't say "***** yeah". This situation is beyond a joke - thebassmaster, on 12/02/2007, -2/+48yes, because what we need is MORE WAR!!!
- frazw, on 12/02/2007, -0/+45Isn't it about time the U.S. added a disclaimer to the end of their national anthem? Something like "Warning lyrics may give false impression of country."
I also think it is outrageous that they are willing to treat the laws of other countries with such contempt. Other countries who are their biggest allies. We should stop being allies and just be neutral towards America. Revoke all rights to military bases and actively try to capture U.S. agents operating unlawfully in our country. They are after all criminals, and if our government allows them to do it they are not protecting the interests of their own citizens. The extradition treaty is completely pointless while this is allowed to continue. - mocapuff, on 12/02/2007, -0/+45Team America World Police.
- Hollowpoint, on 12/02/2007, -5/+49I'll make myself a cup of tea, and while I drink it, I'll call you a *****.
- northernmunky, on 12/02/2007, -0/+41So the US has decided that they can dictate to the world and make up their own laws to do whatever they want around the world? Well the rest of the world has not agreed to this and I hope the US feels the wrath of the whole world for this.
Kidnapping citizens of ANY country is a crime.
I can't believe Americans think the world hates them because of 'freedom'
YOU ARE NOT FREE!!
Do yourselves a favour, impeach that chimp you have for a president, and push your government for recognition of the International Criminal Court, it will serve as a deterrent for anymore of your so-called leaders from violating any more international laws. - gmillerd, on 12/02/2007, -4/+43The dollar is falling, Euros are raising. Time for war.
- Misesean, on 12/02/2007, -1/+40I don't have any problem with the US government doing this, as long as they accept other governments doing it too: if you name your teddy bear Muhammad, the Sudanese government should be able to come and kidnap you from your home in Iowa to administer 40 lashes, or death, or whatever they decide is the proper punishment for such a horrible transgression.
Oh, no, come to think of it, maybe I do have a problem with that. - Lixnig, on 12/02/2007, -2/+40This is not something that is specific to only this administration. Even if you removed Bush, the law would still be written as it is now.
- masamunecyrus, on 12/02/2007, -4/+42The one thing a man should never lose is his sense of humor.
- 4Prophecy, on 12/02/2007, -0/+37"Until now it was commonly assumed that US law permitted kidnapping only in the “extraordinary rendition” of terrorist suspects."
No, there's no such thing as slippery slope; don't be silly.
/s - Rotzooi, on 12/02/2007, -0/+37Depends on the regime. if it's Iran: nuke them. if it's the Saudis: cover it up, blame the Iranians and nuke them.
- Haecceity, on 12/02/2007, -1/+37Ah, so the "special relationship" includes a bit of bondage-play, eh?
- Uaedaien, on 12/02/2007, -2/+38Well in that case we have the right to shoot the agents the US sends to the UK, if they survive lock them up for kidnapping. It is the law in England after all that you can't carry weapons or kidnap people.
- MrOstrich, on 12/02/2007, -0/+33That's a really good point.
- fraggle35, on 12/02/2007, -1/+34America is fast becoming everything it claims to be against, Americans need to get a good president before its to late.
- MattBD, on 12/02/2007, -0/+33True, but we can make a very nice cup of tea, so you'd have to get used to that instead. Oh, and we make great cider too.
- protium, on 12/02/2007, -0/+33No but the Pound is 2:1.
Stronger than both the Euro and the US dollar. - RincewindUK, on 12/02/2007, -0/+32Of course, America is the land of the free; free to do whatever their government feels like...
- bitcloud, on 12/02/2007, -1/+33I thought "freedom" was the one thing a man should never lose...
- yagran, on 12/02/2007, -0/+32They have gone insane. Just because its a law in the states doesnt mean they can force that law upon all other countries. I say that if they dont stop doing it NOW, we should just close our borders to them. i fuking hate things like this.
- andibarnes, on 12/02/2007, -0/+31What's the betting that the administration sees this only working one way? Seriously, though, who needs all the legal niceties of extradition or habeas corpus, those things are buggers when it comes to the administration of 'justice.'
- pigfister, on 12/02/2007, -0/+30The USA is using rendition to kidnap ppl with immunity and has been doing so for many years, the uk government is assisting this by allowing their planes to land in the uk and have even supplied information to the american's about british citizens locations and travel plans.
- KingBunny, on 12/02/2007, -0/+30This is worse than it sounds by the title..
1) The US is enacting crazy laws to make pretty much who ever they want a criminal (terrorist), causing the rest of the world to say "HA HA, you so crazy".
2) The US claims to have the right to arrest citizens of other countries..
Oh *****. - GMorgan, on 12/02/2007, -0/+27No what they are saying is when the US failed to extradite people they then went ahead and kidnapped them or in the Canadian case they attempted to.
- DesertDude, on 12/02/2007, -1/+27Your services in Iraq and Afghanistan are appreciated. Now STFU and wear those orange overalls.
- DesertDude, on 12/02/2007, -6/+31America is already a Nazi police state abroad (conquest wars, torture & murder). The policization of interior affairs, however, is not complete, but it's in rapid progression.
