- Lederhosed, on 05/11/2009, -2/+20Maybe they thought she was a spy because she's too hot to be a journalist
- 0biKwiet, on 05/11/2009, -0/+14"...went on a hunger strike but ended two weeks later due to health problems."
I'm pretty sure that that's the point. - alanocu, on 05/12/2009, -5/+9This is wonderful news for her and her family. And now we can expect Iran to claim “credit” for this act of beneficence, for the swift and professional operation of their “justice” system. I suspect the Obama administration will oblige with some statement of “gratitude” but this is all bunk, of course. The Iranians deserve no credit for grabbing an American citizen, imprisoning her in the hell hole of Evin prison and then springing her before the Iranian election to gain brownie points for “getting along” with the U.S. The administration is foolish indeed if it perceives this as a positive sign.

lol - ontariontario, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2When she got locked up, many diggs. When she is freed, not so much.
- bluekangaroo, on 05/13/2009, -0/+2One freed, two to go. Come on North Korea...
- Barackalypse, on 05/12/2009, -1/+3When you have a known human rights abusing country that also happens to be paranoid, visiting as a Western journalist is just a stupid idea. I'm rather stunned they let her go.
- petebot, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2Governments do not speak for all of their people.
- Mship, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2When you post a link you should tell them what they are going to find.
To the people in this thread bad mouthing Iran and Obama, did you read the article in that link? Its about a few of the journalist that America has imprisoned with cause, please read it and make a comment or are your comments just partisan? - HBZ55, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2http://digg.com/d1qsyf
- Exhibitionist, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2If the government believed she was a spy, I have no problem with them locking her up as long as they wished. In the end they released her after an appeal so the whole process seemed perfectly reasonable. Some sort of financial compensation would've been nice, but at least they released her. Worse things have happened.
- viol999, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2Is ti just me or is she really hot.
- Mship, on 05/12/2009, -0/+2Here is a link to a Salon article about a few of the Muslim journalist that have been locked up in the US without any cause.

I would like to here people opinions about it who thinks Iran wasnt in there right to detain someone they thought was a "spy".
It was posted earlier by HBZ55 - jpowell180, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1It figures there would be a "hater" of the U.S. here.
- gcnaddict, on 05/12/2009, -4/+5This is what happens when you mix Iranian and Japanese genes. For some reason, that mix always ends up looking quite hot.
What country would want to give that up? - fightingforair, on 05/12/2009, -0/+1Same goes for North Korea that picks up people and makes up charges to arrest them. And, just like North Korea, we play nice and applaud them for 'doing a good thing' by returning those people they shouldn't have captured in the first place.
- repins, on 05/12/2009, -1/+2I wonder what Iran got in return for this "gesture"
- inactive, on 05/12/2009, -2/+2From the article- She said it was because she had bought a bottle of wine, which is illegal in Iran but available on the black market.
Booze is the root cause of all the problems in the world.
SO LET'S FINISH IT. (I m gonna drink it off. Who else is interested in joining me?) - googooly, on 05/12/2009, -2/+2Fear Tactic people. Get use to Iran's government.
- rabidjester, on 05/12/2009, -1/+1This reminds me of Zoidberg figuring out that Nixon is going to destroy all the robots.
Geopolitics aside, I'm very glad she's ok. - scottbaez, on 05/12/2009, -3/+3I can't describe how happy this makes me. Roxana Saberi did nothing wrong. I'll thank my lucky stars that she was freed. Let's see the same decency extended to other political prisoners in Iran.
- chrisdjohnson, on 05/12/2009, -1/+1...and I'm sure her Iranian guards treated her with the utmost respect during her incarceration...hey, why is she walking funny?
- inactive, on 05/12/2009, -2/+2Lolz
- ArthasLK, on 05/12/2009, -1/+1it is just you. all you.
- ArthasLK, on 05/12/2009, -2/+1This is when you go get your eyes checked.
- elo91, on 05/12/2009, -4/+3This is commonly referred to as an "oxymoron."
- ucdbunny, on 05/12/2009, -4/+1Apparently she was writing a book "on the people and culture of Iran." Part of me thinks it was originally intended to be something like "HOW SIMILAR OUR SOCIETIES ARE" and "OMG THEY LEIK MUSIC TOO AND ROCK MUSIC THEY ARE JUST LIKE US" or "WE MUST LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THEM!" etc.. etc.. *****. I'm not saying that all of those are wrong, in fact there is some validity to those statements, but a lot of it seems exaggerated...IMO
- inactive, on 05/12/2009, -3/+0I can't imagine alcohol is really illegal.
I mean, at least not for the mullahs themselves... - Burbzman, on 05/12/2009, -9/+2It's called Taqqiya ... check it ... www.danielpipes.org/comments/65699
