- dkapuchino, on 02/04/2009, -52/+232The UN Aid, which has either been payed for with your tax money, or with your donations, will probably be resoled to the Palestinian people by their government, after charging a high tax.
Perhaps the BBC and SKY News were correct in refusing to air the Gaza Aid appeal. Its seems that anyone knowledgeable about Hamas and the Palestinian Authority could have seen this coming. - acelow, on 02/04/2009, -51/+213Well... things are getting clearer now. First, UNRA officials admit that the so-called "israeli attack on a school" in Gaza strip was actually outside the school premises and that all injured/killed were actually outside, and now this... Hamas is stealing UN supplies from it's own people, the same people that "elected" them. This cannot be said louder: HAMAS A TERROR ORGANIZATION AND IT'S SOLE PURPOSE IS TO DRIVE ISRAEL INTO THE MEDITERRANEAN.
I'm happy that the truth is slowly but surly reveals itself. - BillE3, on 02/04/2009, -32/+126Hamas also trades food to families for "recruiting martyrs" in the jihad.
Israel has been putting food and medical aid in their own trucks and taking them to Gaza. They do it themsleves to prevent bombs from being placed inside, then they just give out the food. No good press here. - Shoot2Scre, on 02/05/2009, -28/+96The Middle East Conflict Explained:
What happens when a fly falls into a coffee cup?
The Italian: throws the cup and walks away in a fit of rage.
The Frenchman: takes out the fly, and drinks the coffee.
The Chinese: eats the fly and throws away the coffee.
The Russian: drinks the coffee with the fly, since it was extra, no charge.
The Israeli: sells the coffee to the Frenchman, the fly to the Chinese, buys himself a new cup of coffee and uses the extra money to invent a device that prevents flies from falling into coffee.
The Palestinian: blames the Israeli for the fly falling in his coffee, protests the act of aggression to the UN, takes a loan from the European Union to buy a new cup of coffee, uses the money to purchase explosives and then blows up the coffee house where the Italian, the Frenchman, the Chinese, and the Russian are all trying to explain to the Israeli that he should give away his cup of coffee to the Palestinian. - poidh, on 02/04/2009, -18/+86The truth has always been known about the situation, but when has the truth ever mattered? When people hate Israel, Jews, "neocons", conservatives, "The Man" so much, there is little need for truth.
- WhatBubbaKnows, on 02/04/2009, -52/+119Thank you, dkapuchino.
It is so very important to present the truth to the ignorant masses that the sad story of Gaza has as it's villain - Hamas.
Hamas and their handlers ( Iran ) and their apologists (liberal anti-semites of the word and the media) are the true evil at work destroying the lives, property and dignity of Palestinians.
I wish Israel success in killing every damnable member of Hamas. - PuterPrsn, on 02/04/2009, -32/+94Really? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you. DUH! What do people think they've been using to coerce citizens to doing as they say. Only if they obey will they get food, clothing, or any other goods. And, of course, the cream of any "aid" goes to Hamas and their families - how does anything think they've been able to buy weapons and ammunition?
- AmericanAngle, on 02/04/2009, -103/+161....and the Liberals here will blame Israel...and Bush. What's a poor little terrorist to do. Perhaps, the new American Commander in chief should go to the Gaza and personally thank his campaign contributors. Ah..to think of the hope & change the American messiah can bring to the region....
- dkapuchino, on 02/04/2009, -17/+71*Resold.
- anniesblog, on 02/04/2009, -35/+79
Hey there Mr. Ban Ki Moon.
Still having trouble with that stinky foot in your mouth?
Awww - LMN8R, on 02/05/2009, -10/+53Oh ***** you, I'm a proud liberal and I have the common sense to not trust a single god damned word Hamas said.
- inactive, on 02/04/2009, -30/+71It's sad that even the truth about Hamas is turned around by some to justify their own hate. It's really hard to tap dance with both feet in your mouth...but so funny to watch.
- TRMarchesano, on 02/04/2009, -28/+67Of course they did..... they had to use something when they were hiding in full schools to keep up their strength
- cmto3, on 02/04/2009, -27/+61Ah so the truth comes out!
- Trickybunny, on 02/04/2009, -36/+69When this hit the front page, all our comments will start getting dugg down; Digg hates Israel and won't accept that the Palestinians are out of the minds...just sayin'
- unorginalityftw, on 02/05/2009, -18/+50I'll digg this, because I'm kind of sick of all the stories claiming the Israelis are heartless murderers. (Yeah, the conflict has two sides of the stories, I know.) I'm well aware this whole thing is one big blotch of gray, but for ***** sake, Hamas is the greater evil, understand that damnit. You're free to hold Israel accountable for all you want, but this spewed ***** which paints Hamas as this innocent little angel disgusts me. Acts like these are the examples of what Hamas does.
- dkapuchino, on 02/05/2009, -9/+407 people digg me down for correcting my spelling mistake?
Anyone say "bury brigade"? - tzvika613, on 02/05/2009, -4/+35It happened to me yesterday when I answered a question about the time difference between Israel and the US. It is an attack by what our late friend TheNWO - another victim of the ban purges - called ' The Jackals '.
- PuterPrsn, on 02/04/2009, -16/+46You can't really think that. Most of those people have gotten aid for decades before any "siege" was in place. And how does that justify Hamas' theft?
- REBECCAFRIEDMAN, on 02/05/2009, -9/+38dkapuchino,
I experienced a very similar phenomenon earlier today while trying to post something totally innocuous and got totally buried. Maybe because my name is clearly Jewish, because the comment in question was about as apolitical as can get. - PuterPrsn, on 02/04/2009, -12/+41"Eastern European invaders"?? You must be kidding! That land had belonged to Jews before the Arabs moved in. It was returned to them by a guilty-feeling world after the REAL genocide was discovered. When it was formed, the Jews were more than willing to live with those who had moved in during their absence, but no, the Arabs decided that Israel had to go away. To their detriment, they lost the war that was supposed to erase Israel from the map, and have been trying to remove that embarrassment ever since.
- tobor0, on 02/04/2009, -11/+39Yeah, I am a liberal, I even campaigned hard for Obama and traveled to red states like Colorado and Nevada. Still, I don't wrap my head in a scarf and go wave a Palestinian flag in downtown SF every time and IDF soldier sneezes in Gaza.
There are hardcore extremists on both the right and left who want Israel to end, for their own reasons. This is an issue that cuts across both sides of the political spectrum. - dkapuchino, on 02/05/2009, -7/+34The facts:
Hamas stole blankets and food from the UN.
Why did they do that you ask - Does it really matter?
I gave my insights and speculations.
Given that Hamas is in a deep financial distress, and funds itself through heavy taxations and by controlling all imports of food, gas and smokes, UN aid hurts their control, and hurts their ability to charge absurd taxes.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601085&am ... - Hortnon, on 02/04/2009, -18/+45Wait - It's ok for Hamas to steal UN relief supplies and not give it to their people because ...Israel attacked Hamas?
Are you stupid? - elipabst, on 02/05/2009, -4/+30You need to work on your definition of debunked. That article says basically the same thing, except that it adds in Hamas' side of the story, which is that they took the aid from other Palestinian groups. In most parts of the world, taking things from other people against there will is called "stealing". But I guess in your view they were just "liberating" the supplies from Zionist collaborators, right?
- Trickybunny, on 02/04/2009, -21/+46Also, the UN...what a waste. Like seriously, they're always wrong, never do anything about anything and just slow things in the interim.
- tobor0, on 02/04/2009, -10/+34Unfortunately what you are seeing is not that the truth is coming out. What you're seeing is the short attention span of people who don't follow world affairs closely to begin with. Now that there is a ceasefire Israeli matters don't get to the front page anymore because the only people who care about the situation are people with a more lasting commitment to the issue.
The people who just two weeks ago were fanatically digging up anti-Israel articles and irresponsibly spewing labels like "war crimes" and "Zionists" are just people who in general are easily inflamed. Anyone who can portray the most emotional picture of their side will get their sympathy. - Doc123, on 02/04/2009, -27/+50Dugg
- Barackalypse, on 02/05/2009, -19/+42That's kind of the problem with terrorist organizations, they don't have a lot of respect for life. Maybe Palestinian voters will remember that next election, assuming Hamas allows another fair election
- poidh, on 02/04/2009, -9/+32BillE3, I wouldn't just paint all "liberals" with the same brush. It's mainly the hard left which is rather selective in its use of the facts.
- tzvika613, on 02/05/2009, -5/+28Also - if you were the ruling power - who would you rather people receive assistance from: your agencies or international aid or even - God forbid ! - aid from the enemy Zionist Entity ? Whoever distributes it gets credit for distributing it.
- jmbrill81, on 02/05/2009, -13/+36Please don't group all liberals together. Why can't we just call them "*****" instead.
- REBECCAFRIEDMAN, on 02/05/2009, -10/+32that is truly funny Shoot2Scre. Thanks for the giggle. Dugg for "the Italian, the Frenchman, the Chinese, and the Russian are all trying to explain to the Israeli that he should give away his cup of coffee to the Palestinian."
- OwdenBowden, on 02/05/2009, -1/+22No way - according to the Koranimals on Digg.com - Hamas would NEVER do something like this... Must be the ZOG Media that is once again manipulating the world; Or...
THE ***** TRUTH IS HAMAS ARE A BUNCH OF TERROIST ANIMALS THAT WOULD KILL ANYONE AND ANYTHING AS LONG AS THEY CAN ALSO KILL JEWS. THIS GROUP OF ANIMALS NEED TO BE EXTINCT!
And for those Hamas supported spewing lies - you can digg me down but I will only become stronger and more powerful. A pox on each of your houses and may your suicide belts be defective and kill you and your entire ***** family's - you camel dick smoking *****!
OK - back to work. - dkapuchino, on 02/04/2009, -13/+34Ah, yes, modern day robin hoods.
Do you even remotely believe the ***** you've written?
Are you that brainwashed into thinking Terrorist organization, Aid stealing Hamas, are the good guys? - JimmyTheClam, on 02/05/2009, -16/+36HAMAS sucks.
- dkapuchino, on 02/05/2009, -12/+32Lets make that happen.
150 diggs in 12 hours, and this is really important news. This should have been front paged a long time ago.
Digg and shout! - Shabrainiac, on 02/04/2009, -10/+29"may i ask what's the beef? a 5 lines article lol"
If that article was to short for you here is a larger one http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1061426.html
The beef is that Hamas has stolen humanitarian aid meant for suffering Gazans at gunpoint from the UN.
"Hamas gives thousands of dollars to the needy"
Was that before or after they stole humanitarian supplies meant for the Palestinians and sold them to the highest bidder? (this during a seperate incident on January 12th during Israels offensive) "Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders."- http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1231424 ...
"===> Digg silent
Hamas takes blankets from U.N to give it to the needy (without permission) ======> ??"
Where in the article did it say Hamas was redistributing the supplies it STOLE to the needy?
"Maybe the U.N isn't doing their job seriously,"
Well according to the UNRWA...
"Similar aid packages were distributed to 70,000 residents over the past two weeks, Gunness said."
So it doesn't sound like the UN was having any trouble carrying out its role.
"what do you think they'll do with the blankets? burn them?"
Lets see....
They could sell it to the highest bidder "Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders." - http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1231424 ...
or
They could distribute the stolen aid only to the Palestinians who support them "Since June 2007, when Hamas took over Gaza, the terror group, Zalah said, also took control of all humanitarian aid sent into the Strip and refused to distribute it to Palestinians affiliated with Fatah." - http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1233304 ...
"Sad thing that a 5 lines article without any relevance got so many diggs"
The sad thing is that you are trying to excuse Hamas' behavior - anniesblog, on 02/04/2009, -9/+27Jews always lived in Israel even though most were murdered or exiled. Some never left but endured occupation for thousands of years. It's a fact.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -16/+34Hamas doing something immoral? NEVER!
- Waiting2awake, on 02/04/2009, -5/+22KP, come on. Do you really think HAMAS wouldn't do this? I agree Israel should lift the blockade, but that is a separate issue and even if they did, what is to stop HAMAS from taking that as well?
The goal is to have ALL civilians in the region safe - and when Hamas does this ***** - it makes it very VERY easy to see Israel's side.
Not sure what the solution is - but blind devotion to HAMAS' side is no better than blind devotion to Israel's. IMO. - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+17yeah they don't give food to people who will kill them.. sounds fair..
- Oatlord, on 02/05/2009, -10/+27You're right, it doesn't. Why would Hamas keep launching rockets into Israeli civilian centers anyways????
- anniesblog, on 02/04/2009, -12/+29"Are you stupid?"
you seriously have to ask that question???
(yes I know it was completely rhetorical.)
It's all the JOOS fault!!!!!
we are living in the twilight zone people !! - neko6, on 02/05/2009, -3/+19Hamas seized control in a violent coup that included executing Fatah members:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1 ...
Its like the Democratic party went over and executed the heads of the republican party and their senators in North Carolina and Florida or something like that. That's not democracy, even if they have a majority in Parliament.
"What the ***** is it doing in a warehouse if the people need it so bad?" - waiting to be given to those who actually need it, not Hamas who control local wealth as it is?
But Hamas can't have the UN or US or Israel feeding the people. They need to be the ones doing it (and taking for themselves the best supplies first, of course), otherwise they would lose their grip. - dkapuchino, on 02/04/2009, -12/+28What part of this is a spin?
The UN saying: "Hamas stole our aid?"
The Herald tribune for reporting this?
Or Digg user kp998, ignoring the fact that Hamas, the rulers of Gaza, just stole Blankets and food from the UN, and somehow trying to blame Israel for this? - woodrow8292, on 02/05/2009, -1/+17And the UN fought back to stop Hamas from taking the supplies...oh wait never mind it's the UN were talking about they are just there to keep the peace and make sure...oh hell never mind. Great job UN
- tobor0, on 02/04/2009, -8/+23Unfortunately, you failed to mention that they rejected it because one of the conditions was the unilateral, unconditional lifting of sanctions on Gaza. Does that seem like a fair deal to you?
- krazikamikaze, on 02/05/2009, -5/+20It's hard to believe people can still support Hamas after learning these (and other similar) details, especially the Palestinians who elected them. Here's the motivation for each side in this conflict in a nutshell:
Israel: Attack Hamas to stop Hamas from launching rockets against Israeli civilians.
Hamas: Goad Israel into attacking Gaza by launching rockets, then maximize the number of innocent Palestinian civilians killed by Israel as collateral damage in order to turn public opinion against Israel to further the ultimate goal of destroying Israel.
Whether you think Israel is purposefully targeting Palestinian civilians or not is irrelevant (though if you think about it, it's absurd to think Israel would deploy such a strategy.) It's clear Hamas will be willing to sacrifice Gaza civilians until Israel has been wiped out. The only solution is to remove Hamas and elect a group that will work with Israel to help the Palestinians out of poverty, rather than killing them.
Well, I guess the other solution would be to kill all the Jews. A lot of nutjobs on digg seem to prefer this choice. - inactive, on 02/05/2009, -22/+37FTA--"Israeli officials have charged that the militant group routinely confiscates supplies meant for needy Gazans.A Hamas government spokesman was not immediately available for comment".--Uh? So what's up? Why is this a surprise? Oh, I see. No one in the UN BELIEVED the Jews when they said hamas was doing such a thing to the Palestinians. Poor hamas.. What will they do! Lookit. These terrorists madmen hid behind the civilians and caused the deaths of all those people in Gaza. The only thing about this that surprised me was hamas is showing a bit of what it looks like BEHIND the mask. Question is,, are the Palestinians going to stand by them in this matter? Why are not the UN calling them out what they rightfully should be called. No outcry here that I have heard. While those people in Gaza are hungry, hamas has full bellies. There's something terribly wrong with that picture.
