- ghm101, on 01/29/2008, -1/+8It is chilling to read the coldly thought out tactics for persuading people this is a good thing.
Critics of this scheme are getting lots of ammunition for the argument against a National ID.
The biggest one being that people will not trust the Government to securely and responsibly handle their information, especially in light of the recent and well publicised huge losses of peoples confidential data from government agencies. – A silver lining to those clouds.
As long as people are neither complacent or apathetic it should be possible to stop this. - captbbq, on 01/30/2008, -1/+7...and the American government is not far behind. The real ID act got bipartisan support.
For the Americans here, here the list for how each member voted:

They vote for this ***** just to seem tough on "terror" come election time. Who in their right mind would vote for something like the Real ID? It's such a selfish thing to do, and it's all done for political gain.
I was at Kinkos just the other day, and it got me to thinking: What if they start requiring ID's to log on to the Internet? Like from your house I mean. They probably have that planned for somewhere down the line.
I have a PC that's been in storage since 2003. In it are some of my writings. As soon as I learned about the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act I knew what would follow it, and I wrote it all up in Word docs. I keep a journal as a note to the future, of everything I think will go wrong if we don't change course. So far so bad. Most everything I've written down has come to pass.
We're in for some deep ***** if we don't stop acting like pansies that need to be coddled by politicians. Most these D.C. bums don't even have a record to stand on, and people still buy into their ***** promises. It's like we're a bunch of ***** masochists.
I'm not scared, though. I've got guns. I've got bullets. I've got a place to keep the family safe. And most of all, I've got a healthy fear of living under the boots of fascists, that's not going to let me tolerate it.
Hold on tight fems and fellas. And vote right. - andyboyd, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4This is sickening. Our country is blanketed with cameras and our government seems content to erode our liberty because of some perceived threat from within. It is little wonder there are so many people emigrating!

- natschultz, on 02/02/2008, -1/+2Well, you know, if Britain would just slam the bloody doors shut and kick all the evil m-f-ers out, then this wouldn't be necessary.
There is no Europe anymore.
Welcome to Oceania! - DJOldskool, on 02/13/2008, -0/+0Usual excuse kick out all the foreigners and all is saved, pure ignorrance!
