UK Olympians forced not to speak out against China
dailymail.co.uk — "British Olympic chiefs are to force athletes to sign a contract promising not to speak out about China's appalling human rights record – or face being banned from travelling to Beijing." Reminiscent of the 1938 games where the UK was forced to perform the Nazi salute. Appalling!

- IVillageIdiot, on 02/10/2008, -3/+3Will England, under Liberal influence, once again bow to a totalitarian regime as they did in 39?
The Socialist in charge there may have little or no qualm with China in the first place. England has "Universal Health Care", they both have "Universal Gun Control", they both State owned media that propagandize, they both have ubiquitous surveillance system that manages their population’s movements and activities, they both have state ownership of large portions of their economy... what, exactly, pray tell... is the difference between the two? What differences do they actually have which would inspire conflict?
Apparently, if this article is correct, the English “management” even has the ability to control the speech of it's citizens, just like in China! One must wonder, what price has the weak, conciliatory, permissive Liberal preference for a policy "Co-Existence" truly extracted? - Troika37, on 02/11/2008, -0/+1Europe used to look to Britain for symbolic and literal leadership. Now, however, I can't help but wonder if Europe would be better off if England simply called off the charade and welcomed their liberal thought-police overlords.

still I agree with the sentiment of the article..
