- canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15neat, but as a frequent international traveller (i leave the states at least once a year), i think they are missing the key factors.
where can i choose what kind of vacation? i.e. - beach/rainforest/city or parties/quiet time/romantic, etc
"attractions" is way too vague.
i just did one w/ "shopping" all the way down to 0 and returned- miami, san fran, buenos aires, paris. these are all shopping hubs.
great idea, but i get the impression this was not created by people that frequently take international trips - robdowns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It told me to go to hell.
- eedge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Hmm, I put everything furthest towards the negative... and it told me to go to Utah.
/I tried again a few minutes later with the same settings and it gave me completely different results. Nice. - gjcomputer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6of course it will hit front page, kevin submitted, but it is a very cool app, my #1 was san fran. wish i could go back...
- SmashSource, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Digg Previous Post down. No one has the mirror of it.
- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is how all travel sites should be like.
- mannymix03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3safety not guarenteed...
- robdowns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it's working for me now. nice site, easy to use, but...it needs a bit more work. i like the concept, but the results are kinda, "duh."
- maglob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@Cyberpope
It may have worked for you, but it directed me to Bristol. And I defently don't want to go there for a holiday, I'd rather stay at home in my garden in a tent. - webtickle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only if the damn slider thing showed you the percentage...
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well it seems nigh on useless, and it's getting dugg to hell.
Great find - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Did you not see who submitted it?
- Toasterstrudull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd love to try it... too bad it already died.
- airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Suggested Portland to me. I love that city and I was thinking of it when I adjusted the sliders. Seems like a good sign.
- MrPresident13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is this your idea Kevin? Because although this site is ok, you could do better.
- ryanwarnersteel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I put in what I wanted and it gave me my home town. Guess I like where I live!
- eradicator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Silence! Do not question the wisdom of the crowd.
- Nateon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm. San Francisco is at the top of my list how convenient, considering all I have to do is walk outside.
- dmclone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's pretty slick.
- cyberpope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Shame no one caught it :/
I'd probably enjoy seeing the results of this as I travel internationally a lot. - cyberpope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's up again.
Oddly enough the 3 spots it game me were Montreal/London/Toronto all I've been to and loved (well I live only an hour's drive from Toronto). - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Michigan?
- dyslexicsUNTIED, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2how is this still getting dugg when no one can even see it...?
- Tigrou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Site STILL no worky...guess Kevin has that traffic touch.
- guentherishere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brilliant idea, but as mentioned above, very very vague...
They need to have more options in there. Nature = NYC? If by nature you mean steel and taxi's. I've been to NYC and there is not a lot of nature there at all with the exception of central park. Maybe Denver, CO would be a better fit for this search preference. More search options are needed. Great idea though! - JoeDiggsIt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I got the same answers for everything I put in....lame.
- paulzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm... maybe Kevin submitted this because this is the secret new business idea? It has a bit of an early stages of digg vibe. And the site is very secretive of who they are... testing the waters maybe?
- optigon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I'd say that's pretty accurate.
Utah's pretty boring, although The Arches and Goblin Valley (Not the one with David Bowie in it.) are pretty interesting. - jeffreyonfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Find Las Vegas, and take a look at the pictures. Something ain't right.
- DEADB33F, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I know this is still meant to be alpha, but in its current form it's completely useless.
I put nature & nightlife to the max. The top results were New York, London, San Fransisco, Las Vegas.
Hardly your typical nature reserves.
Fail. - bytesmythe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the problems with the sliders is they don't work as expected. Sliding "nightlife" all the way to the left apparently means "unimportant", while to me it should mean "actively avoid".
Someone else mentioned the categories are too vague, which is true. "Attractions" could be theme parks, museums, national parks, etc.
Perhaps the "popular" destination checkbox could be a slider, too. There should be a gradient between "New York" and "Capetown". - shonar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It worked for me, but I tried a few variations (don't always want the same trip) and it came up with San Francisco at the top every time. Is Destiny trying to tell me something, or methinks the applet may be biased.
- bekbek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0strange... worked really well for me.
super useful app. - Somnabot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, with all of the five categories set to zero, Salt Lake City = destination #1. LMAO!
It's just over Gonzalez, USA. LOL. - rhabd0mancer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2All your Tripbase are belong to us.
- bekbek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool!!!
the travel site of the year!
useful and fun! - oneclickaway, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Carbon footprints anybody? No? oh well....
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ann Arbor.
- ate50eggs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Err...All your tripbase are belong to us?
- rivviepop, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18 digg comments and the site's toast. I guess they want me to go to the store and buy them a new server, eh?
- angelfelix, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Is this kevin's new app? Remember on diggnation podcast he said that he had a new idea.
- dignews, on 10/12/2007, -19/+5Bet this hits the front page
- SmashSource, on 10/12/2007, -26/+2lol.. ur right. why were u dugg down.
