- nofrak1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+70Of course he has. He's also received a plan to send more troops. And a plan to invade Iran. And a plan to dance a little jig to make his mommy happy. They're called "contingency plans" and it's the military's job to have them at all times.
- mclumber1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14We also have plans to invade Canada or engage in a war with Italy - these of course have a very remote possibility of happening. It's called contingency planning - something that the military has to a lot of. You would know that if you've every been in the armed forces.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11The military also probably has an invade Florida plan, an invade France plan, and an invade Canada plan. They've always known how they would withdraw. I remember seeing stuff on the logistics of shipping things back from Iraq after a withdrawal at least a year or two ago. Why is this news? Seems like RawStory doesn't provide the raw story very well.
- sol2006, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Our military needs to look at this war with all aspects involved, which includes a military pullout. Just as others have stated, its just a contingency plan
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15having a contingency at all times, you mean like receiving plans for withdrawal 4 years after the invasion?
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The plan in detail:
http://www.imgfree.net/view/942 - thejokker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Coven points out a very important fact. We already won the war. We took down the target leader of a country and disabled said country. The rest is merely different peoples understanding of 'winning the peace' and our moral responsibility to rebuild a country we invaded.
- Cederosa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's never been an issue of /if/ we can have a full withdrawal, it's about if we should. Of course they have a plan for complete withdrawal, there are plans for everything. They probably had some sort of full withdrawal plan at the start of this war. This isn't surprising or really news at all, just a statement of the assumed.
- DJPhoenix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm sure they've had plans for a while. They simply have no intentions of actually pulling the trigger on them.
- bluelu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5First you bomb a country to stone age. When they don't welcome you with open hands (who wants his homes and family be killed by american bombs?), you just pull the troops out and let all the innocent people die of starvation or get killed. Thank you USA! Let the rest of the world pay for your stupidity.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4ohh jeez, I can already see how the ignorant are going to take this article out of context.
- Briankb68, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Can we also strike on 9/10/07...I would like a four day weekend. Please spread the word!
- floorman56, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4And the Air Force has LOTS of plans for ending the world. With people setting on triggers waiting for the president's order. For the last 50 or so years
- Coven, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7But Bush says that 'losing' is not an option! We must win this war even if it takes a bajillion years and twice as many dollars! (I put the word losing in quotations because we have already won the "war" in Iraq. It is now an occupation, and time and time again shows that you cannot "win" an occupation.)
- champ20, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3don't get your hopes too high
- Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5I used to think, "Oh, the US military must have all sorts of plans waiting in the wings for their appropriate time. Oh, big companies must have detailed strategies for how they're going to operate."
I honestly don't think that anymore. For all the tomes of social security numbers that get lost, obvious long-term mishandlings like that crappy VA hospital in DC, the ridiculously vague laws that get passed - for all the bumbling that the human race has always done, we've paradoxically come a long way. Just because we've come a long way, though, doesn't mean we didn't bumble all the way here, and continue to bumble forth into the future. - floorman56, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Your "pullout" may also be another term for attacking somewhere else.
- subcomandante, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If he has all these "contingency plans". Why didn't he have a "contingency plan" for securing Iraq in the first place?
- evilcaptain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What, and leave Halliburton hanging off of Sadam's dead teat for all to see. They are allowing innocent people to be slaughtered, solders in constant harms way and OPEC to completely own all of Iraq's oil. Until they do, America (the World following after!) will be pushed deeper into the quagmire by the diamond crusted boot of the ruling classes.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Join WHOS general strike??????
- art42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Don't you think Bu$h Co had the general "leak" the "plan"?
- floorman56, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1fog of war
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4That's why the 9/11 conspiracy makes no sense. Time and time again the government has proven inept at keeping things a secret when they involve multiple people. The level of ineptitude is very high.
We need to pay massive reparations to the victims for our support of Saddam before the Gulf War, the sanctions which decimated Iraq during Clinton, and the invasion and occupation of Iraq now. - art42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Don't ask logical questions. You'll only confuse the logically challenged.
- deusdiabolus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Let's see, will the President listen to the other branches of government? I'm gonna go with 'no'.
- Latraki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well Saltmiser, why don't you get your ass out there and start slaying these monsters?
- gojeda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Will the President listen to his commanders this time?"
Which commander, or commanders, have told the President to completely withdraw from Iraq? Get back to us when you find the answer, in the meantime, BURIED for your inaccurate and assinine commentary. - geekee, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"Will the President listen to his commanders this time?"
It's a contingency play morons. The person who made the plan isn't saying this is what he wants to do. Why don't you listen to the top general in Iraq. He is not saying it's time to leave. - BESTenemy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In other words, the plan is given to calm down the impatient public, while in Iraq it's business as usual.
- yatoobin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The world would be a better place today if there have been a complete withdrawal nine months prior to July 6, 1946 .
- jollyholly, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4"And then there's all that equipment – one million tons – that would have to be driven out of Iraq and shipped out of Kuwait by sea. ... It could take two years for a complete withdrawal."
If Dick Cheney hears that, he'll just ship everything to Iran.. - mrgreen4242, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dugg just for the word "turdblossoms".
- krustyburger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have been hearing people say this since day one and it simply is not true. They had plans. They were optimistic that the people of Iraq would step up and welcome them and that did not pan out. They did however have a plan to deal with remnants of the Republican Guard and other elements that might spring up. Has everything gone according to the plan? NO! Have they had to make adjustments to their plan? YES! That does not mean they had no plan.
I am not fan of how things have gone. However, I think saying that they had no plan is absurd. - PieterOpie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If Iraq was a party and Bush was a guest at that party they would find him in the morning rolling around in the rose bushes reeking of cheep booze, naked with a rubber glove protruding from his butt and muttering strange things in between bouts of vomiting up his intestines. All efforts to calm him and cover him up would be futile and eventually the host would find it easier to just pack up and move elsewhere. Then some idiot gives him more booze........
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4We shouldn't have gone in to begin with. We need to leave Iraq, and pay massive reparations to the victims of the occupation. Allow them to democratically elect their own government, and follow the will of those leaders, not work to convince them of what we want of them. Like allowing all the oil to be profited from by outside corporations.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2And yet Bush & Co. had no plan for what to do after Saddam was taken out beyond "wait for democracy to sprout like turdblossoms." Funny how that happens, huh?
- Latraki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Right on the mark .
"Tonight, a top US general here in Kuwait said, from a logistics standpoint, he's already got the plan, and he's ready to go," concluded Miklaszewski. "All he needs is the president's orders."
Miklaszewski concluded that the best ***** story to go with for the weekend was to use an unnamed General making some vague, almost transparent remarks about a sudden withdrawal. Nicely done, Jim. Nothing like a little 'false' hope for really concerned people. MSNBC to Jim M. "keep it coming, it's great filler". - FreakyD, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Hopefully this means that they are ready to drop the bomb on them.
- drivin98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Let's hope the "withdrawal plan" is better than the "spreading democracy through slaughter plan".
- saltmiser, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2yatoobin, the world would NOT be a better place if there was a withdraw from that. what kind of ***** are you? a world where genocide is being committed is your idea of a better place?
- sol2006, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You're right Coven, however I merely was stating that we can't just pack up and leave. A complete pullout would be devestating, since peace isn't just gonna magically appear. I'm not saying a pullout isn't or is advisable, I'm just saying that a COMPLETE pullout would be wrong at least in this point in time.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1What the hell does "concluded MSNBC's Jim Miklaszewski" mean? The media guy concluded the general has the plans?
Plus ive always said this, but doesnt it seem oddly easy to make stories whenever you dont have to name a source? I dont claim this one is false or anything, but ive always been wary of stories that always have unnamed sources because ive ***** before in my lifetime too..i know how easy it is to do. and just think...being a journalist is like a job with no accountability at all when you use unnamed sources..you could write whatever the hell you wanted and just quote something like TOP GENERAL or TOP CONGRESSMAN and there you go...you dont even have to leave your house. - OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1This is what will happen after that plan takes effect:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/7849847@N07/462754893/ - flink405, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I hope their withdrawal is through Iran and Syria...
- Richandler, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Holy crap ther have been 200 car bomb blast in the past 10 minutes after they have announced that they might withdrawl.
OH NOES!!! - Jmuduke, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2If history is any indication, this general will be reassigned and some Bush stooge will be put in his place.
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Ours. America's. Yours if you choose to participate. It's whatever we make it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3Rawstory = Liberal Crap
- notque, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3We need action if we want to force the Bush Administration's hand in withdrawal.
Join our General Strike on 9/11/07! Help us spread the word!
