- ytzhaak, on 07/15/2008, -0/+0This is a perfect example of man's stupidity when it comes to the environment. Has anyone considered that this giant algal bloom is good for us? Algae in the oceans accounts for 50 percent of the oxygen in the atmosphere. It is also the most efficient remover of carbon dioxide and other pollutants from the air and water. This bloom is a natural equalizer, offsetting the the large amounts pollution and green house gasses flowing off the Chinese coast. And here they are destroying it in the name of entertainment. Well, I guess it's no big deal. It's not like we all need to breath or anything.
The worst part about this incident is that despite the huge amount of media coverage, not one article points to the environmental importance of algal blooms. No one seems to notice that we are slowly suffocating, and until we wake up, we deserve nothing less. - bananahh, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0ya, china has a very bad environment. It is a big pity. But we can see that poeple are trying to do sth.
