- jayadelson, on 01/28/2008, -6/+302Kevin Gamble showed some serious courage today. I'm proud to know this guy.
- DanInAUSTRALIA, on 01/28/2008, -1/+235i salute you Johnny Johnny.
- supermajic, on 01/28/2008, -8/+148Only Tom Cruise could have REALLY helped this woman.
- sexualaj, on 01/28/2008, -3/+96"A lady bystander asks if I “know CPR” and I tell her she doesn’t need CPR"
OWNED - AncientWeird, on 01/28/2008, -0/+82Before Tiki Bar TV he produced the animation of Beast Wars.
/awesome - toodamfast, on 01/28/2008, -3/+68The scariest part is, if he's moving to NY, hows he going to do the show?
- JoeBaynham, on 01/28/2008, -0/+63LMFAO at "Ever try to ride the subway covered in blood? It doesn’t really matter how crowded the car is. People make room."
- magus91, on 01/28/2008, -1/+48"My new employer says I should be in the paper, which I think is probably a bit of a stretch. But then again, it might help me in my apartment search - You want references? Sure, ask this lady and her husband. They seem to think I’m a pretty good egg."
Amazing Heroism Kevin! Hope you get your apartment! - brokenbeat, on 01/28/2008, -0/+47wow, incredible story (and testament to the blood absorbing wonders of pantyliners)
- TjLAXattack, on 01/28/2008, -1/+41"So I haul her up on my shoulder, at which point she comes too..." - wow, a true gentleman. Not only did he rescue her, he had the foresight to pleasure her at the same time.
- Random23, on 01/28/2008, -1/+39JJ has come to Metropolis from a far off land to protect and serve.
FezMan?
The Bartender?
Whatever, joking aside, Kevin is not only talented and awesome, but he's a damned hero a real life HERO!!!
Awesome job, you displayed the best of humanity that day. Thanks - JohnnyJohnny, on 01/28/2008, -1/+39What the hell? I just got to work and someone sent me this link! This is bananas! It's a great big hole in the ground, doesn't this sort of thing happen all the time? I mean, I was just the closest dude to her when she fell in, so I was the closest guy there to help her out. "Hero" is a bit of a stretch (it's not like I just stormed Normandy against a barrage of machine gun fire or anything)! But thank you for all the incredibly kind words! I wrote the post on my (now very public) blog for my friends back home (as it was easier than making five different phone calls) and now it's on the front page of DIGG?? Man, this is too much!
Oh, and did I read that right - a while ago some dude actually LAID DOWN over top of somebody to save them from a train? See, now THAT GUY is a hero. Me? I just got a dirty jacket. Seriously, it's gross down there. Somebody should get a mop or something, or a bucket of Mister Clean and give those tracks a once-over, you know?
Cheers, JJ (aka Kevin). - samureye, on 01/28/2008, -0/+31I would be too, some real selflessness there. You know how dangerous that was? I don't even want to think of all the possibilities. I hope this doesn't go unnoticed.
- scairborn, on 01/28/2008, -1/+31So what drink goes with an act of heroism?
- trotskyist, on 01/28/2008, -0/+27I see you've been testing a few new wines tonight, Gary ;)
- AzureRise, on 01/28/2008, -0/+27Yes.
- garyv, on 01/28/2008, -16/+40not that is what it is all abouty bout
- DrTiki, on 01/28/2008, -0/+24I am damn proud of you too, Johnny Johnny.
Damn.
Proud. - TVarmy, on 01/28/2008, -1/+20This restores my faith in the human spirit (Stop laughing, nerds can be idealists! We're not all nihilists!)
- popltree2, on 01/28/2008, -1/+17I always knew Johnny Johnny was a hero, but wow! Who knew he was trained in even remedial medicine like that?
- naturalblue23, on 01/28/2008, -0/+16This better be on the next Diggnation!
- cfuse, on 01/28/2008, -0/+16This calls for a drink.
- ECas123, on 01/28/2008, -0/+14Damn, someone buy that man a drink!
- popltree2, on 01/28/2008, -1/+15This is the kind of stuff I love seeing on digg; incredible stories of heroism and risking one's own life to save another. Bravo, Kevin. Bravo.
- Harbinger67, on 01/28/2008, -5/+18...lol, took me a minute to remember who jayadelson is. I'm a douchebag, digg me down :p
- ragmaster, on 01/28/2008, -4/+16Who gives a *****! If someone has the guts to risk their life to save someone else, by all means brag all you want about it.
- inactive, on 01/28/2008, -0/+11I'd like to see Ivan Ivan do that.
- Sinudeity, on 01/28/2008, -0/+10JJ: "Everybody gets one"
- darkane, on 01/28/2008, -0/+10I've never said RTFA before, but RTFA. He said the train operator saw an injured person on the platform. Not the tracks.
- riverstyx, on 01/28/2008, -0/+10That's an amazing story. I didn't know who you were before, and I won't forget it after this.
Congrats. An honorable display of courage. - mjworthey, on 01/28/2008, -0/+6If Dr. Tiki had been there instead, he would have just prescribed a drink and that would have been the end of it (after a little dancing).
- LordSpam, on 01/28/2008, -0/+6Leave it to SCIENCE to tell you what to do in a situation like this. Mahalo Kevin. You sir, are a true hero. Johnny Johnny is NOT the woman!
- superal1394, on 01/28/2008, -0/+6No, you just don't live on Digg quite as much as some of us.
- Zgradis, on 01/28/2008, -0/+5Men like this make the world a better place, thank you kind sir!
- JohnnyJohnny, on 01/28/2008, -0/+5Heya! A couple people have asked about the future of Tiki Bar TV - rest assured, I will continue to serve drinks, overact and make bad jokes while wearing my stylish fez! No worries! If you haven't seen Tiki Bar TV, rest assured it's blood and train-track free.
Oh and hey! If you all wanted to, say, click on some google ads on my site to explore some of the many exciting products and services offered there, that would be, you know, super duper wicked awesome! Perhaps Mister Google can buy me a new coat! Ha! - Carbivore, on 01/28/2008, -0/+5Way to go Kevin! I hope the rest of your apartment hunting is less eventful.
M. - JordanM85, on 01/28/2008, -0/+5Well done Johnny Johnny.
- Toveri, on 01/28/2008, -0/+4This makes me want to believe in the human race once again. Seriously it's really great to have a story of a real life hero for once.
- inactive, on 01/28/2008, -4/+8You pleasure women by hauling them on your shoulder? How does that work out?
- pyro789x, on 01/28/2008, -1/+5This is one of my favorite comments, ever.
- clyde2801, on 01/28/2008, -0/+4You'd never see Ivan Ivan doing that...
- sgtcaboose, on 01/28/2008, -0/+3Good to see even famous people will put everything on the line to save a fellow human being, nice work Kevin :)
- maglos, on 01/28/2008, -1/+4The third rail is high amperage and low voltage, so it will not arch. That said you probably wouldn't wanna go walking on it.
- KyleGoetz, on 01/28/2008, -0/+3Because the writer used the word "too" instead of "to," the sentence says "at which point she comes[, also]."
- Sheff, on 01/28/2008, -0/+3I love you man!
- Waredgo, on 01/28/2008, -0/+3Very good job! Not many would think clearly in this situation.
- IndigoMoss, on 01/28/2008, -3/+6So was there a good chance of him hitting this "third rail" thing? I've never heard of that before, probably because I've never taken a train before.
- trotskyist, on 01/28/2008, -0/+3Wow.
I wish I could say that I had half the courage that you demonstrated today, Kevin. - ethon, on 01/28/2008, -0/+2What the ***** is your problem?
