- MrBuryMe, on 03/10/2009, -7/+20To be honest, I don't think their lives are as bad as they thought, seeing how serfdom exists back in 1950.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYEOSCIOnrs - Pseudorious, on 03/10/2009, -3/+12The existence of other miserable situations should not detract from any single instance. This isn't a competition (I hope).
- sindex, on 03/10/2009, -2/+11Yes, I'm sure they were far better off in a slavery ridden feudal system...
- inactive, on 03/10/2009, -2/+8Dalai Lama is another con that just wants to control Tibetans through his religion.
You need to go and study how the "Dalia Lama" first came to being.
If the pope said something similar you will be agitated. - sanskrtam, on 03/10/2009, -1/+6Or perhaps, the Gelug (Dalai Lama) sect of Buddhism has turned into a wacky New Age crap that many people hate.
I used to jump on the Free Tibet bandwagon until I found out that Dalai Lama turned his own faith into a New Age crap. - Pseudorious, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5I think you'd have to blame Truman and Eisenhower.
- ABadPerson, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5Tibet and China was friends for thousands of years... I wonder what happened
- LeanneOHare, on 03/10/2009, -13/+18The Dalai Lama uses some strong words. He should visit occupied Palestinian territories or refugee camps in Congo. Tibetans are living a very hard life, no one argues that, but 'hell on earth'? It kinda undermines the hardships people elsewhere in the world are going through.
I am prepared to be buried for speaking against the Dalai Lama, go nuts. - s32843, on 03/11/2009, -0/+4Just curious, can anybody find a map before WWI showing that Tibet was NOT part of China?
- njhardc0re, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4you're a retard.

lol, he's seriously barking up the wrong tree. - BoneheadFarker, on 03/10/2009, -3/+7@munen123
A little touchy, are we? Learn your history. The Tibetan monks use to live in luxury as the peasents serving them were literally dirt poor. Corporal punishment for minor offences was common place. Education was non-existant. The people of Tibet should be free, but that doesn't mean letting the Dalai Lama rule them again... - trollick, on 03/10/2009, -6/+10Give Tibet back to its noble overlords! I mean... free Tibet!
- Pseudorious, on 03/10/2009, -5/+8I'd rather be poor and free than a slightly wealthier slave.
- selmer, on 03/10/2009, -2/+5Big hitter, the Lama...
- spoon088, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3Western propaganda is 100% effective. The sheep completely buy it and believe themselves justified in their ignorance.
- inactive, on 03/10/2009, -3/+6@leanneOHare I dont think that the Dalai Lama is trying to be little any other suffering of any other peoples in the world. but I do think he is a bit more focused on the people he is the leader too.
and yes "hell on earth" is what it is like in tibet at this moment. just like right now im sure its a hell on earth in palestine or darfur or iraq.
so i wont bury or digg u.... - inactive, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4@pctsmith I have researched tibet and I have been to tibet. so I know what I am talking about. you dont from your post it seems.
so before you blindly call people blind do your own fakking research.
i have never claimed tibet before the chinese invasion was a paradise, it wasnt. but gettting conquered by an external force is just not acceptable. a people need to determine their own path, not have it forced down their throats by other who "know whats best"
the monks are not the only ones who lost out. destroying cultures all of humanity loses. - gabbagabba, on 03/10/2009, -4/+7The world needs more theocracies! Free Tibet!
- gilbes, on 03/10/2009, -3/+6The Dali Lama is pissed at the way China oppressively the Tibetans, as in not oppressive enough. When the Lama class was in power, they had some real oppression in place. China lets a majority of the peasants go to school. For the Dali Lama, that prospect is just unacceptable.
The Dali Lama is a good PR man and nothing else.
Under eithers rule they are *****. - rxbudian, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3If the people's lives are "Hell on Earth" then someone's not doing their job helping them reach spiritual enlightenment. They should focus more on that than trying to gain freedom from china.
AFAIK Buddhism is about reaching spiritual enlightenment, so the closer one reaches it, the less outside forces can affect him. - Falldog, on 03/10/2009, -0/+2And that's related to this, how?
- ZeeZee2k, on 03/10/2009, -0/+2Just curious, how do you know Tibet is like "hell on earth" right now?
- sanskrtam, on 03/10/2009, -4/+6There are tons of people who are against the Dalai Lama. It's not just Chinese people who don't even like Dalai Lama per se.
Many hippie-haters in the West also hate Dalai Lama as well. - hzchenbaba, on 03/11/2009, -1/+3if I have thousands of slaves, I also think the tibet, which is in pre-1950, is heaven.
human rights? just those insincere westerner believes it is what dalai lama concerns. just like who believes their ancestors robbed countless treasures from Old Summer Palace of China, is for protects them.
------------
what chinese loves, is always wrong.
whay chinese hates, is always good.
that is westerners' golden rule........ - Wosat, on 03/10/2009, -5/+7Yet another instance of peaceful atheists getting oppressed and killed by evil religious people. Oh evil religion...
Wait, it's the other way around? Digg me down atheists. - compucomp2, on 03/11/2009, -1/+3LMAO people actually listen to what the Dalai Lama, the terrorist traitor who wants to establish a theocracy in Tibet which will serve as a British/American protectorate? Why don't they listen to Osama Bin Laden too on what should be done with Israel and the West?
- KrazyA1pha, on 03/10/2009, -0/+2Buddhists believe in a hell on earth. It's not called "hell," but the words are interchangeable.
- toekneebullard, on 03/10/2009, -1/+3@LeanneOHare
Well you can't expect a Buddhist to use the proper definition of Hell. - jbmcb, on 03/10/2009, -1/+2Not quite the same analogy. Imagine if the pope were kicked out of the Vatican, Italy installs it's own pope, and starts building apartments in Vatican city for atheists to live in.
- ComradeLenin, on 03/10/2009, -4/+5Kind of important to remember, the Dalai Lama speaks out against pre-1950's Tibetan lifestyle and wants to host elections should he ever return. But of course everyone on digg.com must tow the party line! Very much like your friends in Beijing?
- PCTSmith, on 03/10/2009, -4/+5Bonehead is right, Chinese gov is crap, but people need to research the tibet cause before blindly supporting their cause. Before China reclaimed the land, tibet was ruled by an elite class of monks, and the people were dirt poor serfs who were tied to their lands with little to no rights. Im not condoning the take over OR china's oppressive gov, but please dont think that Tibet was some utopia of spirituality and freedom. The only people who lost out were the powerful monks whose land was divided amongst the people (former serfs).
on a side note. china cheated in the olympics - nstanosheck, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1As if the Tibet under the former feudal serfdom ruled by him were a heaven.
Unfortunately, the Dalai Lama has not only been on the wrong side of history, but also has got the history upside down. Miseries of "hell on earth" and "untold suffering" occurred nowhere but in the slavery Tibet symbolized by the Dalai Lama.
Even from historical books written by Western scholars, people can draw the conclusion that Tibet under the rule of the Dalai Lama clique was a society of feudal serfdom that trampled human rights and easily reminded visitors of the dark age of medieval Europe.
http://english.people.com.cn/90001/90776/90882/661 ... - hamobu, on 03/10/2009, -9/+10There is no doubt that Chinese are trying to reduce Tibetan culture, bring their religion under comunist rule, and make Tibetans minority in Tibet.
- sanskrtam, on 03/10/2009, -2/+3The horrible British forces meddled with western part and other parts of the Qing Dynasty.
- inactive, on 03/11/2009, -1/+2Dalai Lama is a fool looking for attention.
- blix797, on 03/10/2009, -1/+2Have you ever tried yak butter tea? It's all they drink. If I had to drink that rancid crap every day I'd think I was in hell too.
- DivineMonkey, on 03/10/2009, -0/+1Hell is samsara, which isn't representitive of what the Tibetan's are going through either.

- xster, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1care to support arguments?
- toekneebullard, on 03/10/2009, -3/+4Buddhists don't believe in hell, so how does he even know?
- ShadowofAres, on 03/10/2009, -3/+4Their ruling class should be able to subjugate the Tibetans freely!
- ZeeZee2k, on 03/10/2009, -3/+4Man, why didn't you go! cuz your presence definitely would have made a difference.
- googleabcd, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Please try google find a map before WWI that shows Tibet was NOT a part of China. Period
- Clinojim, on 03/10/2009, -1/+2Long...
- floorman56, on 03/10/2009, -1/+2I hope they get overthrown soon.
Yaa really!!!!....er... Who's goina do that? - inactive, on 03/10/2009, -3/+3yes freedom is more important than luxury...
- orsinoduke, on 03/11/2009, -0/+0friends? almost never ...except a short period during China's Tang dynasty (40 years?). They fought each other for thousand of years ... Neighboring agriculture nation and nomadic nation? they were born enemies.. When China was strong, China always tried to gain control over the bordering Tibetan lands (part of current Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan) to hold the defense line. When China was weak ...Tibetan cavalries from the mountains were real nightmares for the Chinese. Their border only got pacified after the completely defeat of both by the Mongols.
